Dr Nolte, how can i do keto while mourning?
She's correct about sleep. Sometimes I want to learn stuff online so I stay up late. There is a big difference in how productive you are the next day and your fat loss. My numbers are way better than hers even when I don't get enough rest, but I don't get anywhere because all of my processes slow down. You can make an argument for coffee but when you are not rested, it does nothing to help with weight loss. You will be plateaued with numbers that should be working but they won't. Been there, done that.

Going over range numbers were extremely helpful because being at .7 with my ketones I thought I was failing and with my personality style was giving me a ton of stress- it just took so much weight off my shoulders going through this- what is the morning ‘dawn’ phenomenon with your blood levels that everyone is talking about?

Hello Dr. Zivli, i bought the Keto-Mojo after watching this video and now i have almost a week of data. I'm trying to eat Keto and at the first four days i had GKI between 4,2 and 7. Suddenly without a understandable reason i lost the ketosis for two days and got it again the day after. I guess i drunk to much proteinshakes but i'm still controlling would could habe been the problem (too many berries maybe?). I would like to know your opinion about the Ultimate Human Protocol from Gary Brecka. About some things he is talking i think there is little bit exaggeration.

When you join the mojo device account, do you pay a fee for the cloud or the program?
I just have the device. The only additional money I've paid is for more ketone or glucose strips, no subscription or program.
The mojo classic app was free for me.

I used a keto diet twice to lose weight. I went from about 210 pounds to 180 from March to June. I am 6' tall and 73 years old. I ate high fat including animal fats.
Recently, in August, I went vegan. But I feel as if I'm losing muscle mass.
It is hard to be low carb, high fat as a vegan. I have frequent blood tests by a cardiologist and an internist. I have an A1c of 6.1.
My stress/echo was unchanged from four years ago. I exercise about an hour per day.
The eggs, fish, and even bacon fat seems to give me more energy. I take 40mg of Pravastatin and 1,000 mg of Metformin. Particle studies have been good. Blood pressure is consistently 105/70. No ischemia but high CAC score.
I weight 177. Thinking of doing Keto again. Cutting carbs has been the best thing for me. Both my internist and cardiologist recommend cutting carbs. It is hard for them to just say, stick with keto, in my opinion, but both of them like the 40 pound weight loss and high level of fitness.
I'm going to try your glucose/ketone monitor. I'd like to be 165 pounds and get have A1c of 5.5.

I’m 61 and carnivore now - I eat meat, eggs, butter, cheese. I went on keto 6 years ago and felt the difference right away. After I got back to the gym for weight lifting, I switched to carnivore.

I get readings of 0.1 keytones after fasting 20 hours. Complete ONLY water fasting. This is not normal... i only had a slice of bread and a salad before the 20 hr fast. How is this possible? And now its only been 4 hours since i had a coffee with milk and also got 0.1

Morning is a popular time because you've been asleep and fasted for 8 hours. She said to fast for 12 hours. The ideal situation is to test at the same time consistently, and the morning works well for many people.

I check mine a few times a day (morning, mid day and before bed) to see what foods kick me in or out of ketosis.
I hope someone can help me with my keto-mojo. I've been using it for weeks and all of a sudden i get an E3 error code every time I put a test strip in. Doesn't matter if it's a glucose or ketone strip. I've tried different strips, I've reset the meter at least 4 times, new batteries and I keep getting the error which according to keto-mojo it means I'm not using a correct strip. ?? I'm using the strips that came with the meter, the same ones I've been using since I got it. Can anyone help?

TIP: I have NOT tried with this yet, but if you find it painful to test your fingers, buy the One Touch lancets. I don't know why, but they don't hurt like most of the others.

I eat very low carb, keeping it to 20 total grams or less per day. I eat no sugar or starches. I very rarely get over 0.5 ketone readings. My fasting blood glucose runs from around 95-98. Sleep has been an issure since beginning menopause. Is there hope for fixing this?
As I started reading I was thinking, "sleep, stress." Lack of sleep and high stress will limit ketone readings. As will eating a lot of protein. (Which is something I advocate in general, so there's a balance there...). If you're not already wearing blue light blockers like these www.amazon.com/dp/B076YQP6SB/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=reshapept-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=b3a453f9003ed509ccabd41b91f0177b&creativeASIN=B076YQP6SB two hours before you want to be asleep, I'd start there to improve your sleep quality. This helps block cortisol so melatonin can come up and you fall asleep and stay asleep better.

@@SusanR0928if you want ketone reading around 3 mmol/l - you need to increase fat to 80-85%
You keep good amount of carbs but proportion fat/protein/carbs should be 80/15/5% - because fat has 9 calories on gram and protein and carbs only 4cal/gr - you won’t really notice how much fat you eat.
That’s why eggs+sardine diet takes you into good ketosis within 20-24 hours. Carbs are good when ketosis is already strong - then ratio can be 60/30/10%.
one thing not talked about is being fat adapted...i am on carnivore..for a while..and my ketones started to drop recently... your muscles will suck up fat right out of the bloodstream for energy and not as much fat makes it to the liver to be converted to ketones...so you are actually BURNING MORE fat faster. if u are eating like no carbs for weeks..and your ketones are like .3 .4 no matter what... you have reach UTOPIA friend.. you are fat adapted...... pure fat burning machine.

Dear, if you had coffee and half n half this morning, you are not fasting 17 hours. You had fasted up to your half n half. Next time take out that half n half so you’d be fasting. In this way your readings would be more accurate!

This demo is incorrect, It says in the instructions you need to wipe away the first drop of blood as it can have interstitial fluids in it.
No you don’t have to - first blood is good and working. I measure that for years - it’s just a disclaimer to get excuse if something doesn’t work
Let’s be clear: once you consume half/half, you’re no longer fasting. This is a big problem in the “fasting” community. “I’m fasting (but I drank some green juice)” or “I’m fasting but I do put butter and X, y, z in my coffee…”. No. Fasting means nothing but water, black tea or coffee. This is why I don’t trust ANY fasting studies. People play fast and loose (no pun intended!) with fasting parameters.
It's annoying and people do it in other areas of life, it's a form of self deception so they still feel good about themselves even though they are cheating. Same thing happens with weight loss in general.
My said 1.1 is that good its the first time I tested

@@lindseyharper231 Unless you're doing keto, or a very long fast, 2.2 isn't a normal reading and you may need to ensure your machine is calibrated correctly. Your body uses either glucose or ketones, it will use glucose if it's available, and can take a few weeks to become "fat adapted" and able to easier use ketones for energy.
