Yeah. I’m gonna agree with most of the other comments about how this video is very well edited, planned, and put together. This is a good example of what RUclips content should always look like for instructional videos. Great job! 7:25 To anyone installing your dashcam for the first time, just make sure you run your cable behind and not in front of any airbags in your car's A pillar.
Absolutely. Most likely the wire will not stop a deployment, however, if anchored well at both ends, it sure can cut the bag, preventing it from inflating correctly.
If you want to install this hardwire kit and NOT needing it constantly powered, then just connect the fuse tap to a 12V ignition power source (instead of constant 12V). Doing it this way will have the dashcam turn off when you ignition is off.
@@dial2fast in my previous vehicle I connected the Dashcam to a fuse for the air conditioning (device that only comes on when you turn in the car). I paid someone to wire mine originally. Two car batteries and 3 years later, when installing a new dashcam myself, I found that they wired it directly to constant power with no low voltage cutoff, which explains why my batteries kept dying. If you want it done right, do it yourself.

You my friend explained tjis wiring system perfect and the best way, even I might of made the mistake of putting the wire into the fuse panel BACKWARDS, now after WATCHING this, I'll make sure that don't hapoen at all. I wished all dash camera companies offered these setups to buy seperate, I've been looking for awhile but dash cams are a 50/50 on a good one, the one I'm looking at now threw CNET in march of 2018 has it listed at i tjink 3.9 out of 5 stars and 1153 review's, thats great, I have and older vehicle and as of 6/1/2018 my STATE will be HANDS FREE DEVICES FROM CELL PHONE'S to GPS, They are sending out the entire FORCE threwout the STATE TO GIVE TICKETS OUT, THEY EVEN STATED THAT THEY WILL BE IN UNMARKED VEHICLE'S ALSO TO SEND THE MESSAGE THAT IT'S AGAINST THE LAW NOW. Thank you. That is very informative. I bought a hard wire kit for the dash cam that I'm about to install in my daughters car. I asked at the shop if it was easy to install and their technician said that it was. All I had to do was find the wiring under the bonnet (hood) with constant power and switched power as well as an earth. When I opened the kit, it was very similar content wise to yours. Having watched your video, it is a much easier job using the fuse box than he intimated. My only difficulty is there is the tighter space in a Skada Fabia 3 fuse box. I'll take a look at hard wiring my own dash cam too, which has a different connection on the power lead.

Well explained. I made the mistake of populating one fuse socket on the piggy back cable, on connecting to central locking fuse. Camera worked fine, but I couldn't lock my car! Soon realised why. The cables did not with any instructions. May be obvious, but do not use a fuse that is connected to critical systems, eg. ABS brakes, or engine management systems.
Hi, it's now July 2021 and 3.5 years later and almost 350K views. Such an excellent video it makes other videos seem useless in comparison. Looking forward to more ! Thanks :)
Thank you very much! This was a HUGE help! I had actually just gave up for the day when I watched this and decided to go back out and add a 5amp fuse to the fuse tap for the dash cam along with the 15 amp that was already there. I thought by all the other videos that since the dash cam only draws like an amp maybe two that I could just tap into the existing fuse without malfunction but that’s exactly what I got was an error upon starting my truck saying I had a malfunction in the same area I had tapped into. You saved me from going to a shop to have them finish it for me. God bless!
Great video congratulations. Just a doubt. When you park your car and turn the car off, how it starts to record parked: 1) when you hit the door and the sensor detects the movement and starts recording (Parking mode), or 2. It doesn't stop recording all the way until you power off the dashcam manually? Thanks.
Very good videp. I'm pretty good at using fuse taps for many things on my cars, but this was very helpful and easily instructional for those who havent. But... a question.... Can you use this kit for a dashcam that you are NOT going to have powered constantly? I can just install the fuse tap into a switched 12V source right? I'm not sure I trust the auto off feature of the kit to keep my battery safe. I dont know yet if my Rexing V1P 3rd gen even does parking mode....
Good setup you got there! Was thinking to buy hardwire kit for my Garmin dash cam but its cost like 30$ so was thinking why not buy a 12v socket extender for 5$ bucks and then hardwire it working the same as long you not going with parking mode.
I have a question about the crimping wires part. Do you only put in the exposed metal into the add a fuse area? Or do you just put in the wire all the way till you couldn't go anymore?
When you crimp a wire, you first have to strip the end about 1/4" to expose the wire. Then insert the wire into the crimp connector until part of the wire's insulation is also in the crimp connector (so no bare wires exposed on the outside to cause any short). The bare wire should be inside the metal part of the crimp connector, then use the tool to crimp it down.
I have Nisaan Maxima 2017...I connected it to room lamp fuse..it is ACC . Do you think it will keep powered for ever or it will disconnect the power after a while?
Hi, I noticed you used a 10A fuse on the top and the original 10A fuse on the bottom. What if I have in the car only 5A and 20A fuse? Could I use a 10A on the top and the original 5A? The same for 20A...
Yes you can use the 10A on top and keep the original at the bottom. All dashcams use less than 5A current. So technically, you can put 5A at the top, but I am was just using what came with the hardwire kit.
The fuse rating that came from the factory must remain the same. The other fuse that you are using to power the dashcam can be one suitable for your aftermarket accessory. I know these hardwire kits come with a 10A fuse and most dashcams only requires 250-500mA to power. You can put in a smaller fuse if you want for the accessory. So the two fuses you install in the fuse tap does not have to be the same.
Hi, I have a mini fuse type hardwire kit The ACC and BAT + are without a fuse splitter, meaning that only one fuse is embedded in them without the ability to connect to additional fuses. If you are interested I have a picture for a clearer illustration. Can I perform the installation as well?
So I have to ask. I bought a hardwire kit & the color fuse is orange(5) Do I have to follow the same color fuse pulling one out the fuse box or can I go the same route he did? 10 red? Sorry if it’s a stupid question.
Stupid question. lets say u take a 15A fuse thats in use. U send 14,99 A of power through that. U then have a 2A fuze on ur buckline kit. Ur buckline has an error and pulls 2.1 A and breaks fuze. Will the 15A fuse keep on working as usual?
Hi..I have 24 hour parking monitoring hardware kit...it has 3 wire ,1-BAT (yellow colour),2- GNT (black colour),3- ACC( red colour)..and this kit does not have place to put existing fuse ..is this kit is good to install in my 2020 Honda pilot?
Superb and Quality workmanship , I have an E class 2017 , W213 model any chance of demo how to fit dash cam to this model please , if it is not possible , could you tell me where I can locate the Fuse for the cigarette lighter . Many Thanks Alan
I have dash cams, rearview dash cam, radar detector and dedicated power pack for dash cams, and I'd like to hardwire all these items. How many fuses can I tap (pull) from the fuse box? Also, does it affect the operation of the car electronic components? Thank you. Great content. Thank you for your contribution.
Hi! Very helpful video. I have a Question What happens if I connect the fuse wrong? I have a VAVA dual dashcam and I did all the steps but when I turn off the car the camera never turn off just keep recording. I tried manually turn off the camera but the camera turn back on after 3 sec off. I didn’t check the fuse connection I just plug in the fuse without check I don’t know if that is the reason the camera keeps running all time. Thanks man.
Good video mate. I purchased some fuse taps for my dashcam and footwell lights. If I'm gonna tap it on 10amp fuse does it mean the other fuse for piggyback can also be 10amp or lower? thanks
Thank you. Really informative and well-explained video. I did have a question though. How do you know which fuse tap is appropriate for your car? I bought a dash cam that came with hard-wiring cables, but no fuse-taps, so I'm realizing I will have to order some, but I'm not sure which type to order.
Is this wiring kit/ method messing with ur fm radio reception? Cuz my dash cam with the adapter plug into the cigarette lighter does mess with my car fm radio.. So the signal is weaker..
Is easy when your fuse box have 12v at all time but what to do if does not have like Camry 2019? Only way I can see is connect to battery which can find in the boot.
Great video.. But always connect to the camera before you put the wires around your pillars... Could have a bad wire and have to take everything apart again
My kit looks similar but did not come with a fuse. What size fuse is appropriate? Also, does the size of the fuse (should it be higher or lower than the original in the slot - and the order it's added (top vs bottom) impact the original fuse purpose?
For a dashcam, you can use a 5 amp fuse as the device use much less current than that. If there is a short, the fuse will blow right away. The add on device fuse is independent of the original factory fuse (they have 2 separate outputs).
While hardworking is there any way to control the power by the ignition key. I mean, dash cam gets power only when the ignition is turned on. If I'm not mistaken the method described here always gives power to the dash cam and drains the cars battery. Am I right?
Hi, thanks for your video . I would like to know if this would be work with viofo a119 dash cam that has a mini usb as well or not . please let me know thanks.
The kit i have already has a 5amp fuse. Where i want to place it currently has a 20amp fuse. Would that be a problem having two fuses like this? Thank you.
No problem. Install the factory 20A fuse in the bottom slot on the fuse tap, then keep the 5A fuse in the top slot. So the factory circuit still uses the original 20A fuse.
Good video. The only thing I don't like is the need to manually switch the dashcam on & off every time the vehicle is used because of the need for permanent power for the Parking/Motion monitor.
Plz advise. If I use the current power lead that goes to cigerrate lighter. If I cut it and attach to that fuse circuit and then to car fuse box. Will that work?? I mean if I want to use original lead instead of buying hardware kit. Would that work as well as hardware kit.Plz reply. Thanks
It will not work and DO NOT do that. If you cut off the cigarette lighter plug and hardwire the wires to the fuse box, you will send 12v to the dashcam and fry it.
Where did u get the foot rest cover from? lol i need one. and thanks for the video..i was heistant about installing dashcam in my nissan rouge 2015..now i know what to do!
Hi, i just want ask to ask when the car is parked on parking mode and sense something and turn on start recording.. You mentioned you have manually switch off it doesnt automatically switch off. Its will drain a battery?
The manually turning on/off of the dashcam is to do with the way this particular dashcam operates. Many dashcams will record the parking mode events and automatically shut down, and go back into standby mode. The hardwire kit will provide power the dashcam and once it reaches the cutoff voltage, it will shut the output voltage off to prevent further draining of the car battery.
Why is it important what side the add a fuse device is facing or which one is left or right? Is it so that the fuse will take the surge if there is one and not go straight to the dash cam?
Because when you look at the 'add a fuse', there is an input side and there is an output side for the accessory you are connecting to. If you flip it opposite to what I showed you in the video, you will connect the output side of the add a fuse to the input side of the factory fuse box, therefore the accessory you are connecting will always have power without passing current through the add a fuse.
Great video! I just don't understand why the standard for the voltage cut-off for many basic hardwiring kits is at 11.6v because car batteries are considered dead at 11.8v making this useless. Have you had any battery problems since installation?
That is because the car battery might easily drop below 11.8V. You can contact us in our Nuvending website to get different version with cutoff voltage at 11.8V.
Hey, I found a hardwire kit that has a build in battery protection that stops at about 12.4 Volts. I’ve got a brand new car and want to hardwire my car. But I have two concerns: do new cars have problems with something’s that is constantly draining the battery? 2. how long would it record until it shuts off? I’ve got a AZDOME gs63h. Never used the parking mode but on my new car I want it to always be on. I’ll even add a back camera for the cam since i don’t want to mess with the oem rear view cam.
Some new cars will monitor battery drain and give you a message on the dash telling you of this. An example is the Hyundai / Kia vehicles. You can still install dashcam and other accessories. It will just have that message on the dash. As to how long parking mode will run for, it depends on the type of dashcam, how many channels, how the parking mode record the video (time lapse, impact, motion). Also the runtime depends on the health of your car battery. If your battery cutoff is 12.4v, with a 2 channel dashcam, you might get 2-4 hours of parking mode runtime.
hi, are these 12v to 5v save? I mean they have no ce sign on them. Also its not a good idea to run the cable on the a pillar with side curtain airbag. It can block the airbag when its deployed
Nice video. One question though. In the end of the video I noticed that the camera has to be manually turned off. Because of this wouldn't it be the same if I was to plug my dash cam into a cigarette outlet that is constantly powered? I really thought that these hardwire kits would make it so that the dash cam would be able to switch on and off on their own 27/7 but I guess that all depends on the dash cam. BTW I have the Vantop 12 inch 4k mirror cam
The manually powering on/off of the dashcam is due to the design of this specific dashcam. Some dashcams will automatically go into parking mode when no movement is detected after couple minutes.
The device will power up either way you connect it BUT, if you do it incorrectly, the device will not have any fuse protection. Basically it's bypassing the fuse.

God bless!
Fast forward to 2022. Are hardwire kits for dashcams nowadays can be installed the same way on your tutorial? Specifically for Azdome M550.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Very informative and you're a very patient minded guy and you make a great teacher as well. God bless you.
Informative, straight to the point w/o any fluff. Thank you.
And not to mention shitty, annoying, and unnecessary background music.
Good setup you got there! Was thinking to buy hardwire kit for my Garmin dash cam but its cost like 30$ so was thinking why not buy a 12v socket extender for 5$ bucks and then hardwire it working the same as long you not going with parking mode.
This video should be at the top of the search result!
Five star instruction. Excellent watch.
nice video, I was always confused how hard wire dash cam and which fuse should I use. to not drain completely car battery.
Thank you for giving the clear, concise video we want and need. This was a tremendous help.
Great video. When adding the second fuse to the fuse tap does the fuse need to be the same amperage as the existing one that was pulled out?
The fuse rating that came from the factory must remain the same. The other fuse that you are using to power the dashcam can be one suitable for your aftermarket accessory. I know these hardwire kits come with a 10A fuse and most dashcams only requires 250-500mA to power. You can put in a smaller fuse if you want for the accessory. So the two fuses you install in the fuse tap does not have to be the same.
dial2fast thank you
Hello. I was able to hardwire my Garmin dash cam and parking mode works great. I wanted to thank you again for the informative video.
Mine came with 5A fuses. ?
Hi, I have a mini fuse type hardwire kit
The ACC and BAT + are without a fuse splitter, meaning that only one fuse is embedded in them without the ability to connect to additional fuses. If you are interested I have a picture for a clearer illustration.
Can I perform the installation as well?
Absolutely fantastic video. Concise and comprehensive, and straight to the point. 👍
So I have to ask. I bought a hardwire kit & the color fuse is orange(5) Do I have to follow the same color fuse pulling one out the fuse box or can I go the same route he did? 10 red? Sorry if it’s a stupid question.
The video is very great. What is going on if I put the hardwire kit wrong side in the fuse box?
Can I have the hardwirw kit link?
How do you know what amp fuse to use on the camera side of the 2 fuses? My kit had 3, 5, 7.5, and 10 amp fuses in the package.
Most dashcams require less than 1 amp to power. You can install the 3 or 5 amp fuse. If there are any short on the circuit, the fuse will pop open.
Thank you Thank you 😊
The Wifey needed this ASAP
Very informative and precise video. Just one question, since we are connecting it to the internal fuse, will it affect the warranty?
Hi, Great Video, Thanks. Would this work with the 70 Mai Pro ? Thanks.
I have a kit with both red power and yellow acc wires. Any recommendations on which fuse to tap for the acc?
I have dash cams, rearview dash cam, radar detector and dedicated power pack for dash cams, and I'd like to hardwire all these items. How many fuses can I tap (pull) from the fuse box? Also, does it affect the operation of the car electronic components? Thank you. Great content. Thank you for your contribution.
1 fuse circuit for battery pack and 1 for your radar.
If I'm gonna tap it on 10amp fuse does it mean the other fuse for piggyback can also be 10amp or lower? thanks
You should put in 10A or lower
@@dial2fast thanks man 👍
Thank you. Really informative and well-explained video. I did have a question though. How do you know which fuse tap is appropriate for your car? I bought a dash cam that came with hard-wiring cables, but no fuse-taps, so I'm realizing I will have to order some, but I'm not sure which type to order.
Go look at your fuse box and see what fuse type your car uses. Then order the appropriate fuse tap (see buying links in the video description).
Great video, is this kit compatible with any brand of dash cam or is it designed strictly for the dash cam in your video?
My kit looks similar but did not come with a fuse. What size fuse is appropriate? Also, does the size of the fuse (should it be higher or lower than the original in the slot - and the order it's added (top vs bottom) impact the original fuse purpose?
For a dashcam, you can use a 5 amp fuse as the device use much less current than that. If there is a short, the fuse will blow right away. The add on device fuse is independent of the original factory fuse (they have 2 separate outputs).
@@whatyouseewhatyouget3021 how would u get current flowing through d circuit if there is no fuse?? So in short, no...
i went through a few videos.. thank for making a clear video. i bought the hardware kit you suggested too. thanks bro.
im going to install a dash cam using knowledge from this video
While hardworking is there any way to control the power by the ignition key.
I mean, dash cam gets power only when the ignition is turned on.
If I'm not mistaken the method described here always gives power to the dash cam and drains the cars battery. Am I right?
Hi, thanks for your video . I would like to know if this would be work with viofo a119 dash cam that has a mini usb as well or not .
please let me know thanks.
Yes as it needs constant power for it to work
Explained everything I needed to know & more! Great content your making! 💯
so far so good for me as a beginner 100%rated
The kit i have already has a 5amp fuse.
Where i want to place it currently has a 20amp fuse.
Would that be a problem having two fuses like this?
Thank you.
No problem. Install the factory 20A fuse in the bottom slot on the fuse tap, then keep the 5A fuse in the top slot. So the factory circuit still uses the original 20A fuse.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you, your way of explaining is very good. Thanks again for sharing.
The red cable is touching the fuse and the black cable?
6:35 I have 2011 infiniti g37s coupe and I can't find where to put the ground wire to?
Good video. The only thing I don't like is the need to manually switch the dashcam on & off every time the vehicle is used because of the need for permanent power for the Parking/Motion monitor.
Great video. Did you notice any changes about the battery charge?
Dude great video, that dash cam has an internal battery or supercapacitor?
Hi I did an install video: ruclips.net/video/YF_MUji-pcA/видео.html
Very good instructional video that's clear and concise! Good job man!
Thank you! I really enjoy your tutorials.
@@dial2fast I just purchased a car cam online so waiting to be delivered, what fuse is used 5 amp? As in another video a 10amp was used.
Best tutorial ever...kudos to you.
Hi awesome vid will an audi A6 61plate have any problems when hardwired and reverse camera thanks
A good acc fuse, radio. ?
A good hot fuse , dome lights?
Thanks👍🤔
yes
@@txdraw thx👍👍😀
Does this box still works if I want to use ACC instead of Constant ? Thanks
do i have to manually turn off the dash cam each time if i put it into a fuze that only works when engine runs?
Very good video. Looks like I will try to hardwire it again soon. I may now know what I did wrong the first time around. Thanks
Very well explained, thanks!
12.4 is a dead battery
Thank you for this, it's a lot easier than I thought!
Will this work for the F7N dash cam park mode?
Would the location of the fuse be the same on my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder platinum 4wd
Yes it should be the same. But you should check your fuse panel.
Excellent - thanks for sharing. Very comprehensive.
Really nice video. I'm ready to go do this myself now. Thank you for making this.
At this day and age that's the bestest they can do no thanks appreciate the video...
the graphics pixel view so clearly,. 👍
Besides not powering up is there a negative affect if tap is plugged in backwards?
The device will power up either way you connect it BUT, if you do it incorrectly, the device will not have any fuse protection. Basically it's bypassing the fuse.
@@dial2fast ok thanks
Well done - simple and accurate video. Thanks for the explanation.
