+My30thnamechoice i agree!!!! I'm very experienced in ark but this has been my one flaw!!!!! TimmyCarbine keep going!! to be honest i think you should have more likes on this.
+Isaac “DC ROCKS 55” Cardenas I just use a window on the bottom with a door frame above it. I always do my windows like this, I love how they look. Thanks
The "no nub pillar" tip was excellent advice. Thank you. Been frustrated by that one for awhile now. Had to pre-plan all my pillars ahead of time to not get the nubs.
With all these building glitches they either need to make it so you get all your materials back when you demolish something or allow you to move structures.
@@trevordillon1921 The angles are strange. So if you want a 4x4 room with sloped ceilings on all sides the corner pieces wouldn't fill the gap. There'd be a hole.
On the Center map, my tribe and I build a platform base on top of the water in the lake with the two opposite peninsulas (forgive me I don't know what the common names for locations are most of the time). Of course, we needed a way to transport larger dinos to our base of the water, so we built a bridge. The pillar nubs were annoying as first, and then we discovered a use for them. When we're about to be raided, we put bear traps in the nubs, because they're hidden, and it traps them in an open spot on the bridge, where we've placed turrets looking down the bridge, as well as sniper windows.
Wow, great video! Very well edited, narrated, and explained! Thanks for the tips, particularly with the pillars.....though I wish I would have found this before I started building my bridge across the swamp.....soooo many stone ceiling tiles... To hide the poke through, I built a lower layer to hide them and then a clean upper set of ceiling tiles so basically twice the work. Oh well, I'm almost done now. Nothing left but to finish it the way I started. But this will help with future building!
Brother... I have been pulling hairs over the pillar nubs poking through the floor/ceilings. I've been searching for(and failing to find) a more detailed tutorial video like the one I just watched. It's such a little tip but it makes a big difference to me. Thanks Dude for this information. Never seen the corner pillars before but I like the look of it! I'll be giving that a try too after work.
This is the video I got to know your channel and what made me stop building "boxes". I haven't ever built 3x3 boxes but anyway my houses looked pretty boring. I was looking for tipps on youtube and immediately found this video and fell in love with it. My creative side woke up and now I'm so in love with building in Ark. (Even though I am complaining all the time how much I hate it, haha.)
+Zoa Live Haha that's great, Jenny. This was the first video that really made my channel grow. I'm glad it helped you expand your creativity. Haha maybe you learnt your complaining from my videos as well 😉
Actually you should ask the one I started playing Ark with about how I was complaining. He could tell you stories :-P Back then I just built "boring" houses with lots of ladders. Once I tried building a Dodo pen with fence foundations and walls... You wouldn´t wanna know what I shouted at my computer xD I just have to try the "pillars without poking through" technique again. The last time I tried I couldn´t get it right even though I got that second snap point.
+Zoa Live Haha I've raged many times at Ark building. I've found the "pillars without poking through" technique doesn't always work, sometimes it still falls even if you do it correctly.
Really nice job! Thank you for sharing your tips, I was going crazy building the ceilings. And the corner pillar is awesome, I had already given up that idea till I saw your video. Congrats!
FINALLY, someone as anal as I am about the aesthetic appearance of base building. Thank man, learned a lot from the video and looking forward to seeing what else you can teach me.
+Rum Ninja Thanks Rum Ninja (awesome name btw) This is quite an old video these days and there are a lot of new tips and tricks for building. I try not to do too many "tutorials" and focus many on inspiring new ideas.
I only just picked the game up a few days before Christmas and I have been struggling with learning the basic aspects of the game, slowly but surely getting better and your videos are a big help (drank a buddys entire bottle of rum at a party and got branded with the nick name)
Nice tips.. Some of which I will be using too! Now here's one for you! When placing walls, if you aim near the edge of the foundation it will place the wall facing away (outward) from that foundation.. Now you don't need to waste resources on building extra foundations!
Hey, this video is about a year old now so maybe you know about it by now, but if you open the console with TAB and then type r.bloomquality 0 and r.lightshafts 0, then the sun isn't a problem anymore.
+Sierra M Thank you Sierra, I did find out about this after the video but I appreciate you helping any way. They recently (finally) added the options in the settings page so you don't even have to type the commands in anymore =)
Well... You can't do the pillar trick in the corner anymore.. Just tried it.. Made sure it was all the way in the ground... Destroyed ceiling and the structures gone.
Not sure if this is already covered in the comments, but a tip on the walls at the start: if you stand close to where you want to place the wall and then look at the floor that would be the inside floor, you don't have to destroy the outside floor.
hey dont usually comment on vids but i must say thank you ive been lookin everywhere on how to do the corners now i can finish my base keep up the great work earned a sub ☺
You my good sir earned both this comment, a thumbs up and a new Sub. I wasn't looking for building tips (thought i knew them all) - I was WRONG! I look forward to going back through your older vids now and to your new content. Keep up the amazing work!
+Master Swirl Thank you so much, I appreciate the support. I would suggest watching the Roman Style Villa if you like building. I feel like that is my best work so far =)
+TimmyCarbine Gaming - funny you say that - already did - I think I might try something similar myself. Playing on "The Centre" map - I'll show u the results when I'm done!
+TimmyCarbine Gaming Please tell me the coordinates for the location in the thumbnail so I can build a house cause no others location look as good as that one
This is a really good video, Timmy! Greadt idea! You should put it on the Ark SubReddit. They like "How-Tos" and "Tips" and you'll get views and subs galore.
Hey bud, for corner pillars, do they have to snap to another ceiling/foundation on the floor, or is there a way to make it work if the bottom of the pillar is just going straight into the dirt? Am trying to make it work but seems to just destroy the pillar when you lose the ceiling.
+The Beard Guys Sometimes they do that if the pillar don't go far enough into the dirt. Try placing another pillar into the dirt. I've never tried it into another ceiling or foundation, it may work
Thanks the reply, yea it seems a bit hit and miss. At one stage it would hold up if I: Placed the corner ceiling and the corner pillars, then snapped another single pillar to the ground next to the base of the corner pillars, and then deleted the ceiling. If I then demolished the single extra pillar it would wipe out the whole stack of corner pillars. This game...the further I delve into the world of snapping and building and Ark the more weird it gets.
+The Beard Guys Wow, yeah in all seriousness I really think the building mechanics need a total overhaul. They are far too cunky. Hope you get it sorted
Brilliant video, learnt a lot of things, thanks for putting this together. Do you just play on PC? I play a lot on Xbox but am considering grabbing the PC version sometime too. I've got some time off work coming up soon so want to have a play with these techniques and see if they work there too. Looking forward to trawling through more of your vids!
+The Beard Guys Thank you, I only play on PC. All the techniques should work on Xbox but I have never tested it. Honestly, I think you would enjoy it on PC a little more, there are more options, slightly easier controls and such (I hope this doesn't start a PC vs Xbox war). If you enjoyed this one, I recommend my ARKitect Series. Each episode I have tried to build something I wouldn't normally build and learn heaps of new ways to build things. Thanks for your comment, have fun building =)
+TimmyCarbine Gaming Well I'm not of a console gamer these days, plus our channel is mostly focussed on console gaming too so we tend to stick with that. I do have a few mates who play PC though so would like to check it out sometime. I'll have a peruse through the Series you recommended soon. To be fair to the console version of Ark, they are doing a good job of keeping it a lot closer to the PC version in terms of options available to you than a lot of games. We just got console commands in the last update, so it's really just the ease of control with keyboard, the modding scene and the graphics that give PC the edge at the mo. Take a look at our Ark vids if you fancy it pal.
+The Beard Guys I didn't know xbox had console commands now, that's fantasic news. Looks like Wildcard are putting alot of effort in to the console version. Yeah I'll definitely check out a couple of your Ark vids.
+Josh Fridge Thanks, mate. I might have to start doing that. As much as I love the graphics and effects in Ark, the bloom is starting to give me the shits
You think it's really cool?? YES DEFINITELY it's really cool!! and not just that but you have gave amazing good tips all the way through thaaaank you!!!
Fantastic building tips. Love the style and well laid out. Definitely going to be putting this into my build! Question though: Have you tried putting sloped walls on the very top? I think it'd be neat to have a peak on the top of this, but I didn't know if you've tried it?
I wish mine would work the way yours does as far as getting the right slope roof to snap, The left one will snap just fine. I cannot get the right one to snap in place like yours does. maybe due to update in the game (I hope). Have you tried your way lately? or do you know a better way now? Thanks for any help you can give, Rick
You know if u just look in the direction of the wall u want to place but look more down towards the foundation at your feet the wall will place correctly without breaking your foundations
The wall is sticking out because it snapped to the other block - nothing to do with rotating using "E". You can still have perfect walls while rotating, just be careful of snap points.
Your first point, the wall left a gap because you placed it on the wrong foundation, if you are careful you can put two walls against each other that way, i.e. a metal wall hidden behind a stone wall
1:10 u dont need remove foundation just move with ur mouse lower or higher basicly forward or backward then the snap will change and u can plant it perfectly without destroying
I'm pretty new to Ark and have started my own series on my scorched earth server. These building tips are amazing. Mind if I drop your name into the vids if I use some of your building techniques please ?
Playing this in single player mode is the best way if you ask me cause you can change settings at beginning and make it where you can build anywhere and it clip threw the floor and rocks no more red stopping you
Modern day bob ross. Falls off the roof, "no mistakes just happy little accidents" great tutorial
This may be the greatest Ark tutorial in existence.
+My30thnamechoice Wow that's awesome, thanks!
+My30thnamechoice i agree!!!! I'm very experienced in ark but this has been my one flaw!!!!! TimmyCarbine keep going!! to be honest i think you should have more likes on this.
+Cewan Swanepoel Thank you so much! =)
This is the first 'building tips' video for ARK I've found that was both enjoyable AND informative.
+Alley Kingsley Thanks! I appreciate that =)
+TimmyCarbine Gaming 3:06 How did you get the Windows like that? Reply greatly appreciated.
+Isaac “DC ROCKS 55” Cardenas I just use a window on the bottom with a door frame above it. I always do my windows like this, I love how they look. Thanks
Ah the pillar nubs were driving me insane!!!! Thank you
Probably the most informative & knowledgeable building tutorial I've seen. definitely learnt stuff from this, thanks man!
Ik it’s been 6 yrs but imma use this pillar trick for sure. Thx for the tip 🙏
Building in ARK has some hackers' taste. You have to literally exploit the snap points to get on.
The "no nub pillar" tip was excellent advice. Thank you. Been frustrated by that one for awhile now. Had to pre-plan all my pillars ahead of time to not get the nubs.
+The Sharp No worries, mate. I used to do double ceilings to hide them before this trick... so many wasted materials.
The channel profile picture, the thumbnail, HD, great explanation and a very good house to explain the tips. 11/10
This is the best Building Tips video I saw until this day for Ark. Excellent work.
+Marcos Thank you
Wow every time i watch one of your videos it feels like i am watching Bob Ross playing Ark XD
+Will3116 Wow thank you lol
Just the trick about the pillars made me subscribe. Those things have been a pain in the ass. Thanks
+sargonnasz Glad to help! Welcome to the Carbinites =)
With all these building glitches they either need to make it so you get all your materials back when you demolish something or allow you to move structures.
+Chris Mullins Agreed, Seems like you have to use workarounds to make things work.
Yea that should be a thing
Structures + allows you to pick up your structures.
or a blueprint mode to preview the build an then aply manually the materials but wuth perfect snap to the blueprint
i started 2 days ago but with these tips i can blow the mind of my mate who has been playing for half a year thnks man 20 tumbs up
Why havent they made corner sloped roofs yet?!?!
Seconded... & a diagonal 'half foundation' for easier diagonal Walls would be cool too. One can only do so much with a Box Shape... :(
Gabe Jenkins two years later, Still not lol
They finally have and they're miserable to try and effectively use 😭
SecretVVeapon are they? Haven’t tried them yet why are they bad?
@@trevordillon1921 The angles are strange. So if you want a 4x4 room with sloped ceilings on all sides the corner pieces wouldn't fill the gap. There'd be a hole.

Nice vid mate. really helped me work out the issue i was having with walls and sloped walls placing the wrong way and being out of whack.
+Luke Tracey Thanks mate, glad I could help.
to save materials use thatch instead of stone I always make half of the amount of walls and ceiling
Thanks Eric, I do that for projects if I'm unsure if something will work or not.
If u want it to be broken in10 secs

Ark building mechanics are horrible. Beautiful textures, horrible mechanics.
+Brian Martin I agree with this statement so much
Brian Martin I am one hundred percent in agreement with you an I'm playing it on a ps4. I love the game but building is a nightmare.
+James Noie ThickFreedom is a legend, cheers mate
I use fence foundations for the corner pillars. Seems to work well. The sloped roof tips helped a lot though. Thanks
You are my hero !!!!
Thanks for the sloped roof tip it was really helpful.
Glad it was able to help you. This video is pretty old and some of the tips are redundant now that you have access to S+, etc

+arachnabell I'm glad it was able to help you. A lot of these tips are irrelevant now because of updates to the game
TimmyCarbine Gaming For me it helped a lot. I play on an offical server, no mods. It is good to know this things, even if some where changed. :)
I play on PVE Offical server. This still made sense and made me learn basic tricks of the trade. Made it a lot easier to make a X mas house. ;)
this helped so much ty. the pillars were my bane lol.

love these tips! so simple but frustrating if you don't know them (i agree 100% with the pillar nubs)
You don't need to remove the foundation to rotate the wall. Use your map button to switch between snap points.
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm planning on making a Japanese style bath house and I am going to use your roof as inspiration.
4:15 really helped me, thanks!

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! Thank you for the help!
Timmy carbine, the best damn builder i ever seen
This is invaluable. Loving building and this helps out massively.
thanks fam
+Protector Turtle No worries, mate, always glad to share tips. Thanks
i have found that, instead of removing a foundation, just stand on it like if you should stand on the out side of the wall, then you can place it
Awesome building tricks! Thank you so much for sharing them!
Awesome roof, Timmy. Subbed to check out more of your tips!

thank you for teaching me alot more then i knew i think my next house will look wonderful thanks to you
That was awesome man! I'm definitely gonna try out some of these ideas.
Thanks mate. Be careful with the pillars, they don't seem to be working properly since the latest patch.
Thanks for the vid Timmy the part with the pillars helped me out!
Thanks Dakota, I'm glad it helped you in someway
u got a new sub. promoted ur vid on our Ark FB page also. keep it up!

There is also a hot key for cycling through the snap points now

TimmyCarbine Gaming Yep, the game still looks really good without the glare but thats just my opinion.
That bird is nice for building, i had made thatch scaffolding . I wish it was more like FO4

HI carbine have you tried using glasshouse panels underwater makes a cool shark cage looking design
I approve this video.
thanks for the building tips

+Ben Fordrin Thanks mate, glad you found it useful.
Is this STILL good ?
Cool intro man
Thanks mate
Great tips, thanks. :)

TimmyCarbine Gaming Happy days ! Keep the tutorials coming ! You have an amazing skill there. Thanks again :)
+SausageFingers Gaming Thanks mate!

still standing In my opinion no clip is the best thing Wildcard has done for this game.
