My husband saw shadows in the yard in the middle of night. He ran out chased them to their car where they randomely jumped in, he stood in front of the car pounding on the hood. Turned out one had a crush on our daughter. Come back in the daytime.....he never spoke to her after that....and they had to change seats because the driver wss in back.

There are still lots of great parents and great communities today. There are bad parents and bad communities today, as well. Conversely, there were good and bad parents and good and bad communities throughout history.
My now adult sons tell me I was a great parent. Once a boy was being picked up by his stepfather after a sleepover but was clearly scared of the man. I went out into the street and confronted the bastard. Told him that if I heard he'd been hitting the kid again I'd report him. He never hit the boy again. My kids and their friends were very impressed. And reassured.
