[ ] = My own thoughts I make as I listen to each point Tim and Steve are making Released Monday 16th May 2022 Watched Monday 16th and Tue 17th and Wed 18th May 2022 1. TG: My dad said 4:10 never let your pride get in the way of doing what is necessary to provide for people you love. [ connect to Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday] SB: And you still feel it today TG: Very. I would not be here if not for the things both mum and dad did. Never complained. Went to work every day.
2. TG: When does a new day start? 06:12 At midnight. Is it dark outside? Yes. If a new day, a new beginning starts in the dark, that is where new beginnings start. But many people are afraid. You have to visit this place. If this place comes and visit you, it will not leave. [ very strong] If you visit the darkness u have been running from, u will have the chance to leave a better person [ to live a better life] If u do not take this trip, and darkness comes visit you, it is a guest that will not leave. 3. SB: What are negative of having a dark side? 7:12 TG: hardships- it hardened me. Things that were easy for me were hard for others. I’d see people complain about things, and I’d ask what are u complaining about.
4. TG: the things that visit you in your nightmares: these are the real puzzles. 8:48. People say always bring your positivity. That means you are only bringing half of you. [wow]. You have to bring the light and the dark, the good and bad. In order to stand out, to fight, u have to become that monster.
5. TG: most individuals 12:36 make their decisions with their feelings. But you have to make your decisions with your mind. [wow- separating your feelings from the moment- reminds me of what Steven said in ‘Lessons he learnt in 2020- person who put the item on the to-do list is not the same person who will do the to-do list]
6. TG: Whenever anyone has told me you are crazy, I always thanked them 14:41. It gave me ability to see things others may not. 7. TG: Local health 27:12 job. Minimum wage was $3.35. I could not train as I had to do this 6-month probation period training. I cleaned the exercise rooms, opened up gyms. I then sat an exam. Funny part is when I took the exam, it was the one I wrote as a project for school. This health club was using the exam I wrote to certify their trainers. They said u got 100%- you now qualify as a trainer. I said to them u should follow up and find out where u got this exam from. [wow] 8. It is the attention to the little details 35:55. You may hear this often ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’. Top athletes always sweat the 0.01% stuff, they sweat every detail. Because 1 thing they let slip- someone else will use it to their edge. Everyone says don’t worry about the things u can’t control. They want to control everything they can control, so the uncontrollable becomes more manageable.
9. I would ask a group about taking their idea to the next level 37:00 Stand up if you are interested. A lot stand Stand up if you are obsessed. A lot stand. Well which one is it? ‘interested’ is a hobby. Kobe was not interested in basketball, he was obsessed, with details [ subtleties] I have a saying ‘Interested people watched Obsessed people change the world.’
10. SB: Kobe was interested in small details no one else paid attention to. What were they? 38:35 TG: people talk about maximising time. Kobe and I spoke about maximising our focus [ well said]. When you maximise your focus, it gave us more time [ more a subjective feeling of time]. I would walk the floor and find ‘dead spot’- where the ball does not bounce as high. Kobe was doing free throws, something’s not right, he asked maintenance guy to check, basket was 1/8th inch off He was obsessed SB: When we release a video, within 24 hours, we can see if the title and thumbnail are working. TG: People 42:21 get comfortable with not managing the details [nuances]
11. People love the flame but they don’t want to touch the fire 50:18.
12. 1st thing MJ told me was u better keep up 55:25. We don’t know which direction this ride will take us on. I am just as messed up as my clients. I do not judge them. My daughter says to me nothing is weird to you. When something is weird, I say ‘interesting.’ I want to know what that person is doing, and why.
13. TG: MJ gave me one of the best compliments: ‘I do not pay Tim to train me. I pay him not to train anyone else’ 59:40
14. MJ quote 1:07:10 I practise so hard that the games become easier. [Wow] 15. TG: Winning does not make u heartless 1:10:20 Winning makes you use your heart less. Mind over feelings. [Reminds me of Hard Choices Easy life. Easy choices Hard Life. ] 16. SB You cannot unsee the suffering, the cost, from your poor decisions. TG; You cannot unsee it. You cannot unlearn it. You can learn from it. 1:14:56.
17. TG; Winning will cost you everything but it will give you so much more 1:16:26. 18. If u think the cost of winning 1:19:21 wait until u get the bill for regret. Connect to point above: [Reminds me of Hard Choices Easy life. Easy choices Hard Life.]
Jeez how about a warning before e hear about the bodies etc.. Some of us are dealing with trauma, which those who are not may think is weak but it is hell. So please put a warning in before the stuff about bodies
I'm confused but extremely intrigued how you are able to get people so emotional so quickly You hardly say anything or ask many questions but they're powerful Ive seen more people cry on your show than other. I love it
Tim’s book “Relentless” brought me back out of a very dark hole. I have my HS baseball team reading that book this summer. Tim, you are a life changer and your words mean more than you know. Kobe was and always will be my icon and getting a behind the scenes look into how he prepared and developed his obsession is game changing. Great episode and can’t wait to watch the others.
- Control your dark side (insecurities - does it control you or do you control it?). - The more pain you can tolerate, the stronger you will be. - Don’t let your pride get in the way of providing for your family. - Make decisions with your mind, not with your feelings. - Different scares people - If you want success focus on every single detail, you have to be obsessed not interested. The best always look for competitive edge Separation is in the details. Success deletes other essentials, not just through adding things - If you think the price of winning is too hard wait until you get the bill of regret that bill is generational - someone has to bill it off. You have to be proactive and make the hardest decisions. - Showing up is not half the battle it is the start. If you think it is half the battle you are already losing. People want the medal for doing the easy things.
I love Tim. I've seen all his interviwes, could listen him talking forever. He is a Legend and thank you for interviewing him! Btw he always gets emotional when he tells a story about his father. After so many years, it still gets to him.
So much respect for interviewing style. The way you actually stopped & asked Tim “That emotion, what were you feeling?” when he talked about watching those bodies, man, that honestly takes some damn courage. Respect.
From beginning to the end, this had so many emotional levels. I was in tears and in awe of this man’s story. This was just amazing. Thank you 🙏🏾 for this. You and your team are a blessing
When he spoke about Kobe Bryant feeling something wasn't right when shooting free throws and asked for the basket to be measured & it turns out the basket was an 8th of an inch out....... now that's obsessive and a man who knows the court inside out. Another great one Steven, incredible watch, absolutely loved it. What an inspirational man.👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Honestly Steve I think was the best one - "if you think the price of success is high, you wait until you get the bill for regret" - hit me like an absolute wall that. Great stuff
Man Tim's story of the father really hit me. My parents are from India too, my father was a Dr but had to take up a job in the railways instead. So many highly qualified individuals had to take up jobs like this. It saddens me as they had so much potential they could have fulfilled. At the same time they gave our generation a springboard to excel. My Dad's mentality was exactly the same as Tim's Dad. "never let your pride get in the way of doing what's necessary to provide for the people that you love". Though my dad would mention never let the ego get in the way too. Bought a tear to my eye. You are killing it Steve with these LA series. Don't stop! You need to get Lowkey & Akala on when your back in the UK!
And yet you come here, on the back of all that hard work to give you every opportunity to succeed, and you call it "Systemically Racist" and cry about how bad you have it cause you think someone looked at you funny cause of your race. Imagine being given all that sacrifice and blowing it pretending to be a victim.
Indian education is about the worst it gets, globally, a Ph.D guy in India has about as much knowledge (practical, street and theoretical) as a school passout in USA.
@@MrAhuraMazda no complaints here. Systemic racism is something we all live with but we keep pressing on. Little incremental changes will eventually change the system. It just takes time. “Son, never let your pride get in the way of doing what’s necessary in providing for the people you love”. My story in this season. So inspiring and life changing. Am inspired. Thank you.
56:57 When Tim began telling a story about MJ and referred to him as MJ it became crystal clear to me how much respect He had/has for him. I was 15 in 1994 watching the Bulls win and win and win.. it was a great time in sports history.
One of the best interviews ever I have seen in my lifetime, a million dollars Orthy, Tim so much respect and love for you, you are an amazing human who brings this critical planet, salute you, SIr
Man at 22 minutes and 50 seconds when Tim said people don't know what that's like but he looked at you and said you know what that's like to sit in your seat and everyone thinks they want to sit in your seat until they actually sit in your seat.. holy shit man that was golden and a sign of respect from him to you
1:22:25 - "Every mistake I've made, I've reconciled" 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 "I've owned up to it" "Whether they accept it or not, people have asked me to apologize for things I shouldn't have apologized for.... A few times I apologized for things I shouldn't have apologized for " My man! Love this guy.👏🏼🙏🏽🤝
Literally the best podcast I’ve ever seen. I learned so much and made me reflect on my own life in ways I never thought about. As a 21 year old man trying to figure out what to do with their life, this podcast couldn’t come in a more perfect time. Thank you. -Arnold Hendrawan
How does such a strong man inspire me and make me cry at the same damn time ... so good. I like how you make your guests comfortable with their emotions. No fuss, not trying to make them less or more uncomfortable.
Absolutely the best interview I have come across since I started listening to you. Thank you for putting such effort into bringing such high-quality guests. Can't get any more real than this man!
This episode is just a GEM💚💛❤️. So GREAT !!! I intended to listen to it while doing something else but I literally had to stop, pick my notebook ✍️and restarted it. The vulnerability, honesty and expertise 👌of Tim Grover made this an incredible episode. I paused it many times to take down notes... But if I have to pick one quote (there were so many) it would be : "If you think the price of winning is too high, wait till you get the bill from regret" 🎯 Thank you Steven Bartlett and your whole team 💜
This is a quote on my WhatsApp"Never let your pride get in the way of doing what's necessary to provide for the people that you love". I have not seen a podcast where people show such a vulnerable side of themselves and as an audience, and we can connect with them so much.
.new to podcasts and today I asked Alexa to chose one for me! She couldn't have chosen a better one. It hit home in so many ways. Am now rewatching it on here and the bit when he speaks of the darkness went straight to my heart! I am so afraid of the darkness, to go to that place, afraid of not been able to return but realiaed if you visit it before it visits you that can also be the doorway to freedom. Thank you. Precious 💕
I'm a french speaking person but i've heard this interview in the genuine language: the language of mind, determination and confidence. life is not supposed to be easy and I'm greatful for that
First and foremost this was hands down the best podcast episode I have ever seen listen too and I have listened to loads over the years. Well done Stephen for such a well presented & balanced interview I think your tone, questions and style is a real testament to how much you appreciate your craft. I actually went out off the back of listening to this and bought highlighters so I can buy Tim’s book and pour through the quotables. I really feel that spoke to me on a very deep level more so than you would expect from someone you were previously unaware of. Thanks so much for the attention to detail it’s very much appreciated
listen this is one of the most powerful interviews i have watched in a while this really motivated me to go harder. i am blown away i have a lot of episodes to go through because i just discovered this platform
The first and only podcast (even though there were many amazing ones before) where I had to pause and rest emotionally several times during the video, as it was all too heavy and profound to absorb in one go (in the best sense of it!). Speechless Thank you xxx
What a great interview. I got this in my recommended. The interviewer seems genuinely interested in the guest. Great questions. Amazing guest, what a message. The description of the Jungian shadow is visceral. Just loved this so much. Thank you.
I'm less than 10 minutes in and this hits so hard! The conviction and maturity feels so thick. I didn't expect this from the title of the vid. So grateful to be listening
1:23:50 - I enjoyed this podcast. It came at a time when I needed it the most. Especially Tim's answer to the previous guest's question at the very end.
This was easily one of the best videos I have seen on the internet for a long while. I could connect with every single word that Tim was speaking of. Thank you for putting this out there in the world Steven & team.
I’m hooked on this guy Stephen, Thankyou for introducing Tim to us. This story is so compelling I’ve listened 3 times now and I learn something new every time
Tim better PREACH!! I shall be going back over my notes! Wow! I will thank Tim in my next keynote address for helping a sister dust herself off and get back out there! His ending is exactly what's been eating me up the past few days. I am sooooooo glad I discovered this podcast for the very first time today. I subscribed and will be sure to catch more interviews. Phenomenal!!!
Holy crap 5 minutes in and f*ckin shedding some tears man. Hit hard when he talked about his dad and starting in the darkness. Felt like it took me right to my dark places and came face to face. Overwhelming
Hey Steve, am from Kenya and ever since I discovered your podcast, my life has taken a shift. Anyway, this is my first time listening to Tim and I have learnt a lot from him! This has got to be my best podcast.. He is so direct, truthful and straight to the point.. Thanks Steve for choosing to do this and for bringing such knowledgeable people to speak to this "unseen" audience!! When I am great, I hope that you can host me on your podcast! 🙏
Tim is a rare human to live is to suffer everyone does at a point to suffer less and be able to find meaning on your journey the courage to carry on that makes you I think if you are up for the challenge.i love real genuine people amazing!
Happiness is not a goal it is a temporary emotion, seek joy in the journey. Everything in this world comes with sacrifice. “If you think the bill of success is too high, wait until you get the bill of regret.” G-d repeats the lessons until we learn them.
This was intense and quietly saved in my motivational videos. I must admit many nuggets to choose from and to confront my own insecurities and fears as an entrepreneur. Tim is an insightful guy! Full of wisdom. He is incredibly and deeply intuitive! Felt I was with a businessmonk really! A modern version!
Unbelievable, very informative and beneficial - thanks for putting this together - I’ve watched many podcasts and what I can say, personally, is this has made think from a completely different angle and somewhat has made me realise how genuine this is compared to others. I will have to watch it this again as it was so deep.
As always Steven and crew! Thanks you so much for dropping these gems! As a basketball fan/ recreational player, I locked into this on so many levels! This has been downloaded and it will be played 100times by the end of the week! BIG UP THIS TINNGGGGG!!!
Best one yet Steven Bartlett! Thank you so much to Tim Grover. First time ever commenting on a RUclips! but felt compelled too! Resonated so much with many thing he said and being a performer, athlete and coach myself I've been waiting for this absolute burst of new enthusiasm to push my business and teach and spread my knowledge, experience and expertise as I know I'm one of a kind and its time to believe it even more so than I have! wrote so many notes and bought both his books! Ready for my next season! LETS GO!

One of the best interviews ever I have seen in my lifetime, a million dollars Orthy, Tim so much respect and love for you, you are an amazing human who brings this critical planet, salute you, SIr
Man at 22 minutes and 50 seconds when Tim said people don't know what that's like but he looked at you and said you know what that's like to sit in your seat and everyone thinks they want to sit in your seat until they actually sit in your seat.. holy shit man that was golden and a sign of respect from him to you
Amazing interview. I love the interview style. You got Tim Grover to open up and be very vulnerable throughout the entire interview.
Thank you 🙏🏽 Glad you enjoyed!
1:22:25 - "Every mistake I've made, I've reconciled" 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
"I've owned up to it"
"Whether they accept it or not, people have asked me to apologize for things I shouldn't have apologized for.... A few times I apologized for things I shouldn't have apologized for "
My man! Love this guy.👏🏼🙏🏽🤝
Damn, Tim is the boss. Can't argue with a man who held the most competitive and accomplished people on the planet accountable.
Literally the best podcast I’ve ever seen. I learned so much and made me reflect on my own life in ways I never thought about. As a 21 year old man trying to figure out what to do with their life, this podcast couldn’t come in a more perfect time. Thank you.
-Arnold Hendrawan
Hands down one of the best episodes I've watched.
Jesus, someone who’s watched there fair of RUclips videos.. sometimes you just fall upon gems. This video is one of those gems, well done guys
But if I have to pick one quote (there were so many) it would be : "If you think the price of winning is too high, wait till you get the bill from regret" 🎯
Thank you Steven Bartlett and your whole team 💜
Thank you for listening, glad you enjoyed this episode 🙏🏽
Dads mann.. “Never let your pride get in the way of doing what’s necessary to provide for your family.”
Thanks!
LOVE how Tim became more nuanced over the years, very dope to see the development and witness him becoming what he thinks is the best.
This is the best Tim Grover interview I’ve heard. And the best DOAC interview given. 🙏
This is a quote on my WhatsApp"Never let your pride get in the way of doing what's necessary to provide for the people that you love".
I have not seen a podcast where people show such a vulnerable side of themselves and as an audience, and we can connect with them so much.
IKR
Absolutely captivating conversation. Thank you so much Steven Bartlett and Tim Grover !!!
.new to podcasts and today I asked Alexa to chose one for me!
Thanks for listening Anna!
I feel the exact same way. This guy was dropping life altering jewels. I had to puase it a few times.
Wow I felt this too. Had to pause and let some stuff sink in, process some of it and then resume playing.
One of my favorite interviews of all time. I’m so blown away.
Tim Grover is the Legend ...
so much wisdom.
Might be the greatest interviewer I’ve listened too
I'd love a behind the scenes look at how the podcast is produced - the gear, the people working on it, the sets etc.
pause it at 1:25 - gives you a taste for how SERIOUS the tech used for this Pod cast man!!! Quality
I share this curiosity too!
This man is a solid gold legend - thank you Tim for telling it like it is without restraint or sugar coating it.
Thanks for listening Jerry!
Minute 01:19:34 had me on my knees in tears. So powerful and so true
I couldn't stop thinking about this after watching it last night, watching this for a second time.....crack for the brain
Great to hear!
This was easily one of the best videos I have seen on the internet for a long while. I could connect with every single word that Tim was speaking of. Thank you for putting this out there in the world Steven & team.
Wow, it went from 0-60 in no time flat. That was intensely emotional
I’m hooked on this guy Stephen, Thankyou for introducing Tim to us. This story is so compelling I’ve listened 3 times now and I learn something new every time
Tim Grover is a legend himself training and molding champions like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan
„Winning dont make you heartless, it let you use your Heart ließ“ goosebumps. Powerful Interview!!!
This is the greatest and most impactful podcast that I've ever listened to in my life I'll never be the same
Holy crap 5 minutes in and f*ckin shedding some tears man. Hit hard when he talked about his dad and starting in the darkness. Felt like it took me right to my dark places and came face to face. Overwhelming
Man… this has got to be one of the Top 10% contents among all You Tube videos out there. Superb!
Fellow Kenyan here...Pamoja.
@@jeffreyotingo4513 pamoja bro! 👍👊

Tim is a rare human to live is to suffer everyone does at a point to suffer less and be able to find meaning on your journey the courage to carry on that makes you I think if you are up for the challenge.i love real genuine people amazing!
Love the way Tim, explains happiness and how happiness is different to people, so many people in my life don’t understand that

Relentless is such a good book, this guy is a legend
He is brilliant!
This was a gift, thank you. It was an honor and a pleasure to listen to such a brilliant man. 🙏
This didn’t get the attention it deserves. THIS IS POWERFUL!!!
This guy is the REAL deal.... Amazing!
Unbelievable, very informative and beneficial - thanks for putting this together - I’ve watched many podcasts and what I can say, personally, is this has made think from a completely different angle and somewhat has made me realise how genuine this is compared to others. I will have to watch it this again as it was so deep.
Powerful👊🏾 Thank you both for making it happen for us all🤲🏽
Thank you Steven, for bringing on Tim Grover onto your podcast and sharing his knowledge and insight in life... Stay Golden

LETS GO!
This episode will change my life. This is a wake up call. THANK YOU
Happiness or Winning. You not gonna find happiness and you not gonna find winning you create both. That Line really complements Attention to detail and delete the unessential's. Tim G is a legendary mind.!
Fr, I had to write that one in my journal 🖊️ 📜
