  • Three of Bing Crosby's sons (Phillip, Dennis, and Lindsay) try to teach Bing how to sing one of his old hits in a new way. An improvement, no? The screaming girlies seem to think so. From Bing's 10/5/60 show.

    It seems Bing Crosby hated Rock 'n' Roll. But his recording (with Louis Armstrong) of "Now You has Jazz" in its final has a rhythm & blues/rock 'n' roll beat. In this performance, he plays about "doo-wop" style.Phillip, Dennis and Lindsay, for some time recorded songs under the name "The Crosby Brothers".

      The saddest thing is HOW they went....two of the three sons in this video blew their heads off with a rifle.....the third died at 62 of cancer.....the word is that the two who killed themselves might have had fetal alcohol syndrome, as the mother was a life-long alcoholic. The other two died of cancer, one self inflicted, per lung cancer(smoking).....Hard to watch this video, thinking of how two of these sons singing here took themselves out like that....life is precious, imagine the hell, behind closed doors, going on in the Crosby family(his first brood).

    • @arnefogel3256

      +Scott Kuzminski actually not quite accurate.... Yes, about the suicides, but the third, Philip (standing next to Bing here) lived to just short of his 70th birthday, when he died of a heart attack. It was Gary, the eldest brother, who died of cancer at age 62. By the time this show was taped, the other three brothers had kicked him out of the group.

    • @arnefogel3256
      @arnefogel3256 9 лет назад +8

      Yes, they did. There is a "Crosby Boys" LP from about 1960, cut for their dad's company (Project Records), which was leased to, and released by MGM Records. It's pretty good...

      Gary was too unpredictable and unreliable so his brothers kicked him out and Bing stepped in every now and again. This is probably why Gary wrote the scathing book.

      "And then" was in the late 1980s and early 1990s after financial and divorce issues struck the two of them. The way you have put it sounds so dismissive and disrespectful towards the two who have decided to leave this world.

    • @ep8324

      The abuse allegations have been proven to be false. Anyway, he did sing with his sons quite a lot actually. Before television there was radio and Bing had all four of his sons on his show quite often in the late 40s and early 50s. He also cut some hit records with his oldest one.

    • @Catherine-ew1ww
      @Catherine-ew1ww Год назад

      One son who had drug issues, and who later committed suicide, apparently wrote a book making allegations against his father. Two other brothers publicly denied this. Bing Crosby was a good husband and father, and several friends attested to that. He didn’t cheat on his wife like so many of his peers did….must have pissed off the devil that he was a good father and a good example for those around him…so the devil got his son to make those false allegations….straight out of hell that kind of thing, trying to tarnish the reputation of a good and wholesome man, who brought so much enjoyment and joy to millions all over the world. God rest them all now, the bad son included.

      @@ep8324 In an interview in the seventies Gary recalled how Bing took him to the recording studio and they sang "Sam`s song" together on one take. This was a big hit; released 1950 and I believe that it was actually billed as "Gary and Bing Crosby". So long ago and a favorite of mine.

      @@lynnb.6722 Their mother's severe alcoholism probably had something to do with it. Bing felt guilty about not being able to help her so he kept up a hectic work schedule during the boys' formative years and was frequently absent.

    • @ep8324
      @ep8324 2 года назад +3

      He genuinely tried. And he actually had a good bond with all of them except Gary. He still had the feeling that he had failed them because of them making trouble wherever they went in the late 1950s to early 60s. He really tried fo make good. He worried a lot about them when they were growing up because of their mother's alcoholism. But to keep up the front of a perfect family to protect his wife and children from ugly rumors and the press was only possible by maintaining a tight work schedule.
