I lived in Micanopy with my dad for a few years, and I remember the church on the Main Street, buying watermelons for $1 each (big and delicious!),and a lady known as Granny White who lived in a big house that was across from the big pond. Everybody knew everyone;it was a close knit community. I miss it.

It sounds wonderful! I fell in love with the town when it was on Doc Hollywood. I never knew that it was a Florida town until a few years ago. We had so much fun visiting and would love to return one day! 🙂

It is a cute little town. If you haven't yet, watch Doc Hollywood so you can see all the locations the movie used. It was very exciting to see them all. Have fun, and thanks for watching! 🙂

Living In Alachua County I spend a few hours at each place. At Barr Hammock, I only hike the shady side. When it first open you could find a Cotonmouth every 20 yards laying on the trail. I guess all the people scared them away from the path. Most of the adventure is gone dodging the snakes.

We wanted to show filming locations so that if other people visit, they know where to look. It is a great little town! Thanks for watching! 🙂

Green burial just seems more peaceful, with no box or fire. Thanks for watching! 🙂

I love historic small towns. I rode my bike through Micanopy but haven't explored it. I need to get out there at some point especially that it's so close to Paynes Prairie where I go often. Thanks for sharing new parks around Micanopy. Haven't been those yet. Gainesville area is great so much to see. 👍

I haven’t seen Doc Hollywood. The train depot restaurant looks cool. I like that chocolate/peanut butter pie! 😋 I used to bring prisoners to the North Florida Reception Center near Micanopy. But I never really stopped in the town. Want to go one day.

It is an amazing small town with nothing really to do except walk, eat, relax, antique, and check out Doc Hollywood locations. We had such a relaxing weekend away from the big city. Thanks for watching! 🙂

We heard his ashes were spread there. People like Keanu Reeves and Dan Aykroyd actually came to this town for his funeral. It is amazing to think of all the visitors this town has seen! Thanks for watching! 🙂

Nice but you didn’t mention River Phoenix was living there when he died of overdose in LA

He ashes were actually spread there, and many people from Hollywood visited that area for his funeral. We did not mention it, though, because we did not have a location where his family home was located. They said stars like Keanu Reeves, Flea, and Dan Aykroyd all came. The town has seen a lot of Hollywood. 🙂
