By turning and moving in a circle you can create opportunities for yourself. Judokas outside of Japan like the front and back movement 03:53, but this Oshiai (pushing against each other) can lead to you being pushed out of the mat 04:10 , if you are weaker than the opponent. But pushing against this movement can also lead to your opponent using your forward motion to get you out of balance and throw you 04:26. So as a counter to this pushing you can use their movement and bring them out of balance 04:37, by either using a foot to block their knee or by using the circle motions from before 04:43.
