I’ve been through this 3 times now- the first time I really struggled with the idea of taking medication and put it off for so long that my vascular system began collapsing from the dehydration. By the time I finally got an IV, it took 4 hours for the bag to fully enter my body (and it should have taken around 45 minutes). The next two times around, I made sure to get IVs beginning that very first day I began throwing up more than 9 times. It’s temporary relief, but helps tremendously with keeping hydration up. Otherwise, I personally feel it’s too easy to spiral out of control once dehydration reaches a certain stage. Even so, it’s difficult to go about normal life and a support system is crucial. I also highly suggest having something with protein first thing in the morning (if you can get it down). I forgot about doing this the last time around and I couldn’t understand how I kept spiraling so easily. I wish I had more ideas- ginger, peppermint, etc. help only if one has a normal level of nausea. I wish these worked for me with HG, but do still try them (it’s better than nothing). I hated when people would say this to me, and it’s also true and I can appreciate it in retrospect: this is only temporary and what you get at the end of this is sooooooo worth it!
I wish more research and more actual help was out there for those of us who experience HG. My thoughts and heart are with each one of you going through this. ❤

These were not tips. Go to the doctor and take meds…
