- This needs to be said and I can't be nice about it. Being fine with the way you are is one thing, but denying reality and encouraging others to do the same for the sake of your precious feelings is not something that our society should be tolerating. 70% of Americans are overweight and 24% of American deaths are caused by obesity-related illnesses. This is a problem and the fat acceptance movement is only making it worse.

I am a fat person myself and I use to blame it on my metabolism and stuff. Than I decided to do something about it and in the last 3 years I went from being over 330 to under 270 and I'm still losing weight because I decided to be healthier.

As someone that used to be 215 pounds I can say that being fat is not something to be proud of, I cut 40 pounds and feel much better about myself, and I have a much higher self esteem now

I've been bodyshamed for being too skinny ONLY by women so far. To males, when I explain, that it's my thyroid, that made me lose weight, it's okay and they are supportive and helpful. It's only the females who leave mean comments on social media or irl. My sister is obese and bodyshames me all the time whereas I never said anything mean to her, only suggesting what she could do to change her lifestyle, she didn't stop with her degrading comments concerning my appearance, so one day I told her the truth, in her face. She blocked me on everything and we are no longer speaking. Sad but I had to stood up for what I feel is right.

No, still no contact. It's sad, for our parents as well but they understand why I did it. I didn't even invite her to my wedding and I don't regret it. It sounds mean, but she always has this underlying passive aggressiveness and jealousy. I just feel like she is so self conscious about her weight, that she covers it with bitchiness and being mean. Even though she's my sister, she has brought a lot of drama in the life of my parents and mine, when she moved back, to the same town, one year ago. I could go on in detail of what messed up stuff she did, but it would get too long. Basically she is a toxic person but I would forgive her if she would make a first step, because it was always me who had to apologize for doing nothing wrong. I always did though, as my mother begged me to, to keep the peace and because she's older and feels so horrible about herself. But now I've no empathy anymore. I feel sorry for my niece who never learned to eat healthily and at the age of 5 needed her first teeth surgery, because of my sisters crappy diet and lack of hygiene...Sorry for the long text, it just makes me mad and sad at the same time.

She believes in the fat acceptance movement, calls slim women bony, boyish and vain, because they apparently all starve to please their men (so dumb), but at the same time has frequent meltdowns because of her weight issue, then covers it up with being mean and bitchy. The craziest thing is, like in the video, she likes her men tall and slim and calls my husband too chubby, even though he probably weighs much less than her, is only 10 lbs overweight and works on his diet and exercise.

honestly, I fell victim to the 'fat acceptance' movement. I fell into a huge depression and put on 30 kilograms because I gave up, starting 'loving my body' and started eating wayyy too much. According to my BMI, I am morbidly obese.
I then did some research and also came across videos similar to these. Thank you, tough love DOES work. It's a HUGE wake up call.
I've finally made the decision to lose 50 kilos (only 3 kilos down but getting there) and living a lot healthier. It's crazy how in the first 2 weeks of my dieting and exercising how much energy magically appeared and how much more I was able to do during the day.
Bless these poor uninformed people, I don't blame them. I was one of them for a long time. Fat acceptance is not okay. It's not okay to be fat. Yes, everyone dies but I'd rather die of natural causes than have painful heart attacks for years in which I finally succumb. Like, cool if that's how you wanna go but no thanks.
