Your profile pic, I can’t help but think there would be a punishment for Sal like that but no embarrassment! 🤣 Congratulations, man. I wish I could sing. Off topic but I played Donner in 2013 in Eight Reindeer Monologues and reprised it on my channel. Takes a certain kind of expressive soul to want to perform. 🤔
Victor Garber and Molly Shannon RULE in this - what a great job, and played their parts to the hilt without over doing. Young dancers were just great - and the whole thing really was a great remake. And Broadrick and Chenowith absolutely knocked it out of the park in this one too!! Great Show!
I really don't know why this film bombed in the US. I love it! I bought a zone 1 copy and I can only play it on my computer but its one of my favorites.
Re: common side effects: all but the Family Guy reference. I'm indifferent to Family Guy but I love The Music Man. Shipoopi is the best part! I don't dance, but I sing along. I even wrote a parody: "I'm loopy I'm loopy I'm loopy, my brain is full of fog! I'm loopy I'm loopy I'm loopy I'm as sick as a dog" to sing when I have a migraine.
The original version was '57 as a Broadway musical production. It became a success and it was later adapted into a movie; '62. Still quite a hot item, it got revived into a TV film in 2003. Early 2006 the producers of Family Guy came up with their version. There you go.
I didn't know they made a remake of this movie! I was brought up on the original.. my grandmother lives in the town where it was based on... so I've been to the museum countless times... wow and I still didn't know there was a remake...
It's honestly amazing seeing how Cameron Monoghan, got his start in this musical as a kid, and became the sensation he is now following his career in Shameless and Gotham
It’s a good thing this town bought musical instruments. They need them to play the music for the extensive dance training they have all seemingly undertaken.
One of the better moments in that dismal MUSIC MAN production. It's almost as good as the movie SHIPOOPI. I wonder why Meredith Willson called it shi-POOP-i? Good choreography and mass formations.
I've got the role of Marcellus in this musical thing. My goodness, I'm going to be doing this in front of 100+ parents and most of the entire school Q_Q
Ok all you cussers and name-callers. If you want to keep up your arguement, then do it somewhere else. There are people who actually want to take the time to watch these things and share them with other people. Anyone who's arguing about something unrelated to this video obviously doesn't have anything better to do with their lives.
I wish that my school would do this musical during my junior or senior year, and that I would get a good dancing and singing part. Next year is out of the question because they already decided to do Those Damn Yankees.
* chuckles * Family Guy sent me here as well Vasarto.. and memories of this most famous movie.. I love both versions, but still say the FG version is the better one.. proper tempo and a bigger show with more emphasis on the character and style and energy of this lovely charleston.. I'm so glad that modern shows like that still keep alive music and comedy like this...
One of my favorite songs from the Music Man! Kudos to Kathleen Marshall's choreography PS I do like the 2003 version of the Music Man as much as the stage version and 1962 film but I prefer 1962 with the original Harold Hill himself Robert Preston
@ten209: The customs are to late 19th Century instead of 1911. And that's not Preston/Hackett either. It's a different movie, but I don't know what it is.
I've never seen an episode of Family Guy in my life. Just putting that out there. But I was in this play last year, this was my absolute favourite number to practice :D
@Teladian I guess it goes to show that Family Guy creator Seth McFarland knows good taste when it comes to musicals and their adaptations. Like how he uses the song from the Buddy Hackett version of the Music Man.
Actually it's not :P It opened on Broadway in 1957 and it was adapted into a movie staring Robert Preston in the 60's. This is a re make of the 60's movie. I think thats what @MrAnimelvr was alluding to when he said he felt the original was better.
@ChildrenofAmory i play Marcellus in a play and looked up the part because the stupid song i sing is cut in half for some reason. don't assume someone is something by who they defend...
@ztslovebird Going by that definition would cut out most (if not all) Sondheim shows. I get what you mean, though. The Music Man, imho, is one of the best musical comedies of all time, up with Guys and Dolls, The Fantasticks, Kiss Me Kate, and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. I believe that the kind of musicals that you mention are not entirely extinct. They are just much rarer, and they have adapted with the times. I think Spelling Bee is a fantastic example of this.
This version was made in 2003... the original is from 1962 so if you RUclips that video you will see the quality difference. nearly all of the actors in this video are still live ^.^
dammit Griffin I said no showboating!
Nick perez ye chill out just havin’ a lil’ fun!
Who else heard this in Shrek's voice? 80
Peter: "This calls for a victory tune!"
Lmfao
😂😂😂😂😂... Griffin you're fired!!
My high school just performed the Music Man (I was Marcellus). The shipoopi was the most fun to dance to.
+Mylonius My school did too :) I was Ethel in my one :P
my play failed. nobody showed up for practice :(
(i was a lonely train conductor)
Mylonius I'm doing the kids version for my 7th grade musical and it's going to be fun
I did it in the summer in 2016 and it was really fun
I was Marian for my production
I just played marcellus in my high-school production, and the shipoopi was so fun to sing and dance!

I would never have known this had it not been for Family Guy. Thank you Seth
I'm not really a Family Guy fan but I feel the same way
You know this isn’t the original right?
@@cartoonizedlilwayne6485si pero preferieo la de peter girffin
Google the 1962 version. You’re welcome!
same
One of my favorites I was lucky to grow up watching some of the greatest musicals of all time
Victor Garber and Molly Shannon RULE in this - what a great job, and played their parts to the hilt without over doing.
Young dancers were just great - and the whole thing really was a great remake.
And Broadrick and Chenowith absolutely knocked it out of the park in this one too!!

Common side effects are
Not being able to stop watching
Singing it in your sleep
Watching the family guy clip nonstop

Peter Griffin: [After crashing his car] Wow, this is like what happened with Matthew Broderick, except no one's dead!
Can't go wrong with the classics.
The original version was '57 as a Broadway musical production.

Love this version of The Music Man!! Thanks for posting.
shayup I am doing The Music Man for Front Row Players
You've evidently not seen the Original ...
@@abbymorel4925 That’s quite the assumption. All they said was “Love this version of the Music Man”. How does that logic work?
This is supposed to be a company dance number! Oh my gosh, do yourselves a favor and go watch the 1962 "Shipoopi" dance, it's INCREDIBLE.
And the singing is better in this one
This version of the music man sucks balls
This is just as incredible as the 1962 version. And I like the cast better in the 2003 version.
Wrong, Amber Embryo. I love this version!
*Dumb autocorrect! Embry! Not Embryo!*
I was a Pick-A-Little when I was in the Music Man in high school......it was a small part, but it was a freakin blast!!! :)
the set of this movie really reminds me of main street USA in disneyland.
omgggg this was a fun dance to do :) we ran through the audience screaming and pretty much moved our arms y everyone eles did the partner dance :)
I didn't know they made a remake of this movie! I was brought up on the original.. my grandmother lives in the town where it was based on... so I've been to the museum countless times... wow and I still didn't know there was a remake...
You are my new internet hero.
I love the Music Man!
I had played Winthrope in this such a long time ago.........i'm gettin' old.
It's honestly amazing seeing how Cameron Monoghan, got his start in this musical as a kid, and became the sensation he is now following his career in Shameless and Gotham
Nice music, interesting plotline, nice dancing, reminds me a little of Hello Dolly.
So good, it's still being commented on and watched 15 years after being posted.
that was really entertaining
Just did Marcellus. Gosh it's a fun show 😃
Music nerds rock!!!!!!
This is adorbs.
can't decide which is better this or the family guy redo :P
TriAngelsMedia Actually the Family Guy version uses a lot of energy. Family Guy did a better remake
woot! just got this part in a local play for music man!
Tom Brady has nightmares from this.
Aww I love this version of The Music Man too! Thanks! :)
It’s a good thing this town bought musical instruments. They need them to play the music for the extensive dance training they have all seemingly undertaken.
I finally got the hang of "Do re mi fa so la si do si la so fa mi re do"
my part at the school musical right there. MARCELLUS FTW
One of the better moments in that dismal MUSIC MAN production. It's almost as good as the movie SHIPOOPI. I wonder why Meredith Willson called it shi-POOP-i? Good choreography and mass formations.
Im playing Marcellus in my theater camp its going to be great!!!!
I've got the role of Marcellus in this musical thing. My goodness, I'm going to be doing this in front of 100+ parents and most of the entire school Q_Q
Awesome!
Good luck! You'll do great!
I love musicals
We're doing this play in school (it's the junior version) i love this song
I thought Wells Fargo Wagon was my favorite... turns out, this one is my favorite! OMG LOL WHAT!
Yay!
Umpteen zillion *yays*
I love that the guy at 3:20 does most of the dance with a straight face.
Let's cast Seth McFarlane as Marcellus in the next revival!

I can't ever sing back down the scale.
that episode came on last night!
Shipoopi!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

i think its cool that the creator's 5 yr old came up with the word for this song :)
older version wuz beta...but family guy version 1000x beta then both of these combined.
@ten209: The customs are to late 19th Century instead of 1911. And that's not Preston/Hackett either. It's a different movie, but I don't know what it is.
Exactly, that's what I said: worthwhile.
1000% correct!
Freeken awsome.
I've never seen an episode of Family Guy in my life. Just putting that out there.

Family Guy means nothing to me. I love The Music Man, especially the 2003 version!
I love the man singing and Harold hill
@Teladian
I guess it goes to show that Family Guy creator Seth McFarland knows good taste when it comes to musicals and their adaptations. Like how he uses the song from the Buddy Hackett version of the Music Man.
No, the original movie was with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones and came many years earlier.
I bet the dance rehearsals were fun 😊
Seth loves his musicals

This is the 2003 version, if you're looking for the older one put "1962" in your search.

@MrFlashBazbo Nope. The nickname "Razor" comes from the wrestler, but Ramone is indeed my name. Probably named after the band.
If you don’t like it fine but don’t badger it dang! I personally love both versions equally.
This. ☝️

Much better than the older one.
The original film version is the best.
@AuratheDark Oh wow! That I DEFINITELY didn't know! Well, now I do. Learn something new every day.
@AuratheDark I'm pretty sure it is The Music Man.
This version was made in 2003... the original is from 1962 so if you RUclips that video you will see the quality difference.

I'm singing this for Solo Ensemble.. :D
@elporteroful It's like the girl you know is right for you. Shipoopi being something she can be called.
The musical The Music Man brought me here...
@AuratheDark Well yes, I believe. What else would it be?
Ferris Bueller really did make the most of his day off!!
@NovaTacticx Yes, that's Matthew Broderick
nice!
At about 0:49 is that the actor for Thomas Andrews in Titanic? Looks very close to him.
Yes.
hes to rock n roll for there time
Neither this or Family Jerk's version will ever live up to the original. And indeed, Marcellus looks almost deadpanned.
Thomas Andrews (Victor Garber) from Titanic (1997) at 1:29.
vote up if your watching this in 2048
Have you all had a movie reunion since 2003?

@AuratheDark Oh ok, yeah. I read the comments before this. Made in the 60's, right?
Four years before this: I’m in love with a girl named Sarah Sanderson.
