    • @OceanConservationNamibia
      @OceanConservationNamibia  Год назад +1533

      It is sad, yet perfectly normal, in colonies of tens of thousand pinnipeds to see dead bodies on the beach. Natural causes like predation, starvation and sickness prevent half the Cape fur seal pups to see year one. Older animals are also subject to diseases and injuries. We leave the dead bodies to the seabirds, jackals and hyenas.

Also, there is a seal hunting season in Namibia. Seal harvesting in Namibia targets approx 86,000 seal pups and 8,000 adult bulls per year. Trusting humans and their ships and harbors make them easy targets. Also having full grown seals who are interested in humans can be a nuisance issue and may lead to more people being inclined to interact with them. I think that pup shows the fine diversity of evolution. Exceptional curiosity can be a valuable tool for a species to adapt radically, these individuals are the reason some interspecies relationships are created, they find new techniques for hunting and survival, Many of them die but many are responsible for species wide social adaptation. The pope has a similar way of thinking as do many of the men at the Vatican, the are highly educated men of science and incorporate new scientific theory into religion, the pope understands and accepts evolution and finds that it doesn't clash with the bible at all. what im trying to say, if the pope himself understand and embraces evolution, you should try to understand and embrace it too, have a great day my friend.
