Nice. I have a 2018 JLU Rubicon with a 7”. I just bought a 8.4 from the dealer. Excited to get it in.
No need to type in a four digit code with a completely new install also, correct?

I did this upgrade. I had the 7 inch radio with the alpine system. When I installed the 8.4 I lost the bass from the sub that the 7 inch had. Any ideas??

Great video! No issues with the steering wheel controls for the radio? Function properly?

So I went to the mopar website and found many 8.4 screens. Not sure which one I should get. They all have different part number and their price differ as well. Price range from 1000-1400. Not sure which to get?

The easiest thing to do is go to your Jeep dealership and find your model jeep, see which one has the 8.4 radio in it and write down the vin#. This way you can give that number to your parts guy and find out what number radio is that jeep. The radio keeps getting updated so I think the alphabet and number at the end change to reflect what stage or date you are at. If you have the JT make sure the radio you get is for that Jeep or your backup camera will not work.

I did swap too but don't know how to update the version since the VIN does not match the unit ? Even the only one dealer here in my Asia country can't do anything to help. So do you know how to update?

So how was a Vin in the radio or programming not needed?

The canbus will recognize the radio and it links up to your jeep. It can take a few hours but it is plug & play. Thanks for watching

Looking at the information online and U have a 2020 Jeep Compass 7 inch and the dealership quoted me $1400-$1500 which is a $1000 cheaper than Infortainment is charging… they want $2400!! That’s a little more than I was wanting to spend….the dealership said I can’t return the radio if I buy it….what part number should I tell them?

    • @leedixon7

The best thing to do is find a current JT or JL depending on what you have and get the VIN# of a Jeep that has the radio in it of your Jeep. That VIN# will tell the parts guys what radio to order you. If you have a 7 inch your replacing it's 100% plug and play. If you have the crappie little radio you will want to grab a GPS antenna so the NAV and Sirius works. The only other thing is if you are putting it into a JT make sure the radio you get is for the Gladiator because the back up camera will not work with a JL radio. Good luck!

@@leedixon7 Thank you… so what you’re saying is since I have a 2020 jeep compass 7 inch screen I need to find a 2020 jeep Compass VIN that has the 8.4 Uconnect screen and use that VIN to give to the parts guy at a dealership? Sorry for all the questions but he said if I ordered the wrong radio it’s on me they won’t return it

@@danan74 yeah so it can be 2020 to current, just look for the same vehicle then you should be ok
