- And just when we thought it could not get any worse! The worst sand rail just gets worse! But we won’t give up yet!
3 options to move forward:
1 - cut up adjust square up rail
2 - set aside and obtain decent 4 seater rail to continue build up
3 - send it as is

This is very encouraging. As I consider my first rail build, I am glad there are people far more incompetent than myself at measuring and have built rails that work. 😆 🤣 😂

I used to be a welder/fabricator for Caterpillar and that project would bother me too. Throw it out back and buy the other one imo.

Sandrail frames bend and twist all the time. It's always going to be off by some amount. Doesn't matter in the sand anyway. Trade in some unnecessary stress for some fun and just drive the shit out of that thing then toss it. DUNEBUGGY!!!
I'd sell it as is, or stick a 40 horse motor in it, tell the new owner about the frame as most people aren't gonna care. You think you've got problems, I'm in the UK and my new rail is so rusty from being found in a field, that I've gotta replace the whole bottom 12 inches of it with new tubing
Update: I've gotta replace ALL of it with new tubing...Wherever there was a rivet or screw in the frame, water got sucked in and rotted the thing from the inside out....Making a chassis jig as we speak, Yep, UK weather sucks *ss!

Not to be a kill joy but the 3 rib and the beetle transmission are identical internally. Only difference is the ring and pinion ratio. Reverse through 4 the gears themselves are identical width and strength. Ratios vary depending on year. Just be careful buying a rail I’ve seen the bottoms of the tubes rotted out. I’ve built at least 10 in my time my last being Honda v6 powered with a 6 rib with super diff. The frame horns do bend easily so I’d investigate that the 1” in 6’ is minimal your tilt is most likely bent frame horns.
Gear ratios make the difference for me. Hard enough to find a 3 rib in my area. My first ever rail had a 3 rib and tuned cut 35 boggers with ease. You must not have watched the rest of video. This rail is not bent or twisted the rear is tied in with different lengths of tubing short in the drivers and longer in the passenger FML
