I purchased the tap you suggested from BOOST AUTO PARTS like you suggested. Within a couple of days it arrived and I went to work on making the taps. Man, I have to say, with your step by step DIY Video showing how to make all lights come on, and stay on was so simple to follow. The hardest part for me at 62 was getting on my knees to find the brown plug and wiring harness to make the taps. Once I found it, it didn’t take me but a minute to make the taps, and plug everything back in. Works like a charm! Thanks for making it so easy. I have been wanting to do this for a long long time. Thanks again for all your help
FYI, in some states you will fail inspection if your fog lights do not turn off when you activate the high-beams. It is normal on all vehicles to have the fog lights turn off, the reason being you cannot see as well into the distance if the area directly in front of you is also illuminated. It's like looking outside your house window at night: you can see much better if you turn off the indoor lights.
hyunelan2 Not fully with you on that analogy, but I get where you’re coming from. I have enjoyed the extra light thanks to this mod. I’m sure for some vehicles it’s a problem, which explains the law, but It seems fine on our trucks.
I’m glad you guys are pointing out the laws though, that is something people should be aware of before doing this mod. Looks like I’ll be ok in Minnesota! lol
Michael Carter glad I could help! If you ONLY want to solve the issue with them not coming on with the brights, there is a different wire to tap into. Make sure you watch the correct tutorial by Boost Autoparts. I linked both in my description.
Hey guys I have been in the 12 volt aftermarket world for 30 years you name it I've done it car audio Marine audio everything that moves LOL. The BCM is a great place to tap into all the electronics in the vehicle that is the go-to spot when doing alarms. DEI otherwise known as directed Electronics makes Viper alarms they have a website direct wire that tells the installer location of the wire the color and also what polarity it is. On 19 and up Silverado the power points or cigarette lighter Outlet are only hot when in the accessory position but you can change that to hot all the time passenger side fuse panel in the upper dash has a 3-prong fuse which will be in the owners manual fuse section jump it over to the next position and those Outlets will be hot all the time just something I wanted to share . Great video thanks for sharing
The reason the factory turns off fog lights when you turn on your high beam lights is because in most states it’s illegal to have them on with high beams.
Can confirm. I hooked these up to always run but since they were on with high beams .. had to fail.. drive up the road, disconnect and then bring it back through. Told the manager it would take them longer to drive the truck up than for me to disconnect but.. nope
On your truck specifically wouldn't it be better to hook them up to your lowbeams being that your lowbeams stay on when you turn on high beams. That way your parking lights are retained as parking lights?
Is the Boost Auto Parts jumper necessary or can you just short pins 10 & 22. Will not having the directional diode installed cause a problem with voltage.
Close but actually it is not illegal to have 6 forward lights...6 forward lights is the max limit set by DOT for street cars to have 6 forward lights on at once. Think about the normal setup: high beam, low beam, parking light = 6 forward lights. So in a normal setup if you have your fog lights on (low beam, parking light, fog light = 6 lights) and you turn on your high beams, your fog lights will turn off to maintain the 6 lights limit. With this mod now there are 8 forward lights on. In some states or counties the police will get you.
can u show how to wire a light bar using one of the auxiliary buttons inside the pickup right above center counsel that u don't use because u don't have that option from the factory push that empty auxiliary button to turn off or on light bar hope that makes sense
If I install this kit will it affect the auto high/low beams? The way the system works now is if you turn the fog lights on it turns off the auto high/low beams.
03 SVT Cobra Nope, you’re good. All this does is add the fog lights to the parking lights circuit. Parking lights are always on at night. Your auto high/low will not know the difference.
The diode (1n4001) costs 0.15 cents for anyone who wants to clip wires and solder it. Can be taped up and will look factory also, instead did having that loop and t tabs poking out.
Did you accomplish this? I’m looking into buying the diode on amazon and wiring it myself. Looks like pin 22 flows into pin 10 and if that’s not true then vice versa. Cost is alot cheaper this way but i also see why people would buy this if they’re not electrically inclined.
@@briansantos2206 I did. Used a 3amp diode however. Soldered wires on both ends and soldered it to the appropriate wires. Nice clean install. Put a male and female connection on the wire so I can disconnect it if I need to.

Spence, Did the fog light mod. Very easy instructions and super happy with it. Here are some more things which perhaps you could post fix videos on in the future for the truck. (Just some things I've noticed since having my RST for a few weeks now. 1) Auto windshield spray and wiper function will only work for 10 seconds and then it cuts off. You have to wait another full 10 seconds before you can resume the function. What if my windshield is super gunky ???? 2) Can't adjust radio volume while in reverse. A safety thing I'm sure, but annoying when I try to do it none-the-less. 3) The heated seats have a function for "butt-heat" or "back-heat". However you can't have both on at the same time. Why? What if it's super-cold? Are they afraid I'll become a baked potato? Is it a power-draw thing? Why? Is there a work-around? 4) If you are driving with your tailgate down, after a while you will get a "Taillight Malfunction" warning light on the console. (When the light works fine.) 5) The map lights are pretty frustrating I find. They work great, however point directly down at the drivers and passengers lap, which is great if you are trying to look at something in your lap. But if you turn them on with the intention of lighting something up in between the 2 front seats (console area),the light is very lacking due to to angle at which the lens emits the light. Would be cool if there were other lenses available or even what the result would be if you just switched the lenses. 6) Would prefer the auto light function to kick on sooner than it does currently. If I knew where the light sensor was on the truck, one could possibly tint or place scotch tape or something like that over it to make the unit think it's actually darker outside than it is, so the lights would come on sooner.
Is there any way or a kit to make the Fogs stay on or go on once you start up and co-inside with the LED trim lights that are on all the time. I all so want the other functions that you did in this video. Come on automatically and work with highs.? Thanks in advance for any help.

Please reply as you seem very in tune with this. mamorgan72 45 minutes ago I just installed this, and it only works when lights are turned on to MANUAL on. Is it the same type of module? If so I don’t see why not. It’s just a one way jumper to send a signal from one source to an additional set of lights. (I’ve never actually looked into this, just my initial thought)
Truck Ownership: 101 from what I saw in this video it doesn’t look like the same module. It was 4 wires connected to it. It’s the high beam to spot mirror mod kit. But like you said I don’t see why it would work. I just want to know for sure it will work before I buy this gadget from this video.
Did you have to run your own wires to the fog lights? And how do you turn them on? I’m assuming you didn’t have a fog light button either. Either way I’m just running my fog lights on the “Parking Lights” circuit. Every Silverado of this generation should have that on the same wire.
You pretty much missed the point of fog lights with this mod. If you have ever driven in thick fog or a snowstorm, (I have) you will notice that the high beams scatter light back in your eyes, reducing viability. Fog lights, by themselves, are aimed lower so you don't blind yourself or other drivers. But, who needs to see more than 6ft in front of the truck, as long as you look cool!
Ok Boomer… I can still run them by themselves if press the button with the headlights off. And if you really want to act like a know it all, “ThEy ShOuLd Be YeLlOw!” Shouldn’t they… Thanks for the view!
We can always switch to low beams thereby negating your pointless comment. In fact this is my normal condition. I rarely run highs. I wanted this mod so I didn’t have to always remember turning on the fog switch at night with low beams.
Yes, but make sure on their site you select your year and model to get the correct part. And to watch their videos. The wires might be in different locations or be different colors.
This is great and all but long term I see this causing issues. Those T taps aren't meant for permanent installation. So they will eventually come loose or off completely and you'll then have a bare wire to arc out or whatever. Also that short part you bent to attach to the 2 T taps should be made longer. Should be no reason to require it to be that short. Great idea, just needs better execution
I thought those t-taps snapped together pretty tightly honestly. Plus everything is so weather proofed. I thought it was worth paying that for what on paper is just a diod and 2 taps.
Aren't not supposed to run high beams in fog anyway? Kind of seems like you're ruining the functionality for looks as if you use high beams in fog it is blinding. I get the reason, but that is a concerning. I think doing it to the parking is best since they can be used in both situations
Yep, same here. I wired exactly as shown in the video….brown/white stripe wire in position 10 and blue wire in position 22. Blue band on diode connected to brown wire. Now fog switch does nothing. They are always on.
Recvd this response from Boost Auto. Basically if u do the other all lights mod, you could regain control over your fog switch but they would no longer come on automatically until you hit high beams. I rarely use high so prefer to just use this always on configuration. Can always unplug the diode to get back to normal. “Thank you for providing that information. The mod enables the fog lights to automatically illuminate with the parking lights. You should not be able to turn off the fog lights when the park lights are active. If you would like the fog lights to be able to be turned on and off but still automatically illuminate with the high beams you can install the module as the all lights mod. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out. Thank you, Best, Kurt www.boostautoparts.com (765) 831-2830”
Cullen Kraus, real? Something sold stock from the dealership is illegal to have on if the weather conditions are not right? I’ve never heard of that before. I’ve only heard of running aftermarket off road lighting while on the highway.
Yep just happened the other day. I thought I was ridiculous. I asked him why and he said that “the law states that fog lights are only to be ran if visibility is less than________ ft.” I don’t remember the exact number of feet. Then he asked why I was running them and I said I liked the way it looks and he looked at me like I was stupid and handed me the warning

Yes, but make sure on their site you select your year and model to get the correct part. And to watch their videos. The wires might be in different locations or be different colors.
I used a fuse tap to headlight fuse
This is great and all but long term I see this causing issues. Those T taps aren't meant for permanent installation. So they will eventually come loose or off completely and you'll then have a bare wire to arc out or whatever. Also that short part you bent to attach to the 2 T taps should be made longer. Should be no reason to require it to be that short. Great idea, just needs better execution
I thought those t-taps snapped together pretty tightly honestly. Plus everything is so weather proofed. I thought it was worth paying that for what on paper is just a diod and 2 taps.
These things will not come off unless you want them too. What you are describing will never happen.
Now if I can figure out how to turn mine on lol
Really cool
I wanna do this on my 2012 Nissan Altima, just don’t know how to, great video 👍🏼
Mine stay on permanently now I can’t turn them off
Will this mod keep the fog lights on during day time with the LED lights??
Not the way I show how to wire it. They are connected to the parking light circuit, which come on at night.
Aren't not supposed to run high beams in fog anyway? Kind of seems like you're ruining the functionality for looks as if you use high beams in fog it is blinding. I get the reason, but that is a concerning. I think doing it to the parking is best since they can be used in both situations
Either mod will still allow you to use the fog lights normally. The mods only add the fog lights to high beam mode or parking lights.
Why call it a module if its just a diode with connectors?
juan aleman I was using the terminology Boost Autoparts does, and they don’t reveal what the module actually is or how it works lol.
Looks just like a jumper wire.
J Cook that’s exactly what it is lol, the diode just makes the jump a one way street.
use a diode instead of a jumper wire and it won't be a 2 way street
It is against the law to run high beam and fog light
I don’t even have fog lights n I got a 2020 😕
Nice
Note there are different kits this kit will keep the fog lights on you won’t be able to turn them off
There the same kit, you just tap into different wires.
@@TruckOwnership101 the one you have in the link is auto fogs and the one boosted parts have in there video is all lights mod
My button for the fog lights does nothing now.
Thank you,
Best,
Kurt

This never worked for me. When i connected to those pins my rear lights stopped working. I ripped that crap out
Too bad where I’m from the cops around here have nothing better to do so they pull people over for fog lights
Fog lights off with high beams is a DOT law.
Try telling it to the bastards that own Fords, and all six lights blind you.
So is speeding but who obeys that???
Which is stupid. Law already says you have to dim high beams for oncoming traffic.
Oh my 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤣🤣🤣
Awesome. So annoying having to turn them on
..
Update.. Took longer to review the videos, cut the tape, and make the clips than anything.
By installing this will the fog lights be off or on with the daytime running lights?
Off with this particular mod
