Couple of notes about the song! Page plugged straight into the board to get his tone and well, I don’t exactly have a board. Just a laptop and VST. But I was really feeling the tone here. I triple tracked the guitars. Another thing I was feeling. I believe Page did the same thing, maybe not exactly the way I went about it with regards to the panning. But close! With regards to the tab! At the start of each verse, there’s an A5. If you’re not feeling bending into the A note from the G on the low E string, just strike the A5 open. That’s what I always do. However I’m hearing either a bend into the note, or a slide. I’ve seen him do both live. I went with the bend. If you’re using a heavy gauge low E string, it’ll be a good test of endurance. And that’s it really. This was a fun tune to record and tab and I really hope it’s useful to you! What are some other really good Zeppelin songs you would like to see tabbed out in the future?

I've been playing a long time....Played in garage bands and bar bands since I was really young...I'm not young anymore. I always played in two guitar bands and I always leaned to playing the rhythm and all the licks, riffs and arpeggios that go with it...always enjoyed it more than soloing. After years I've gotten back into relearning my major and minor pentatonics more thoroughly....and doing a bit more soloing...but I will never spend much time trying to learn solos such what Page has gifted us with...or Arcane solos like Alex Lifeson (whom I love). I remember when playing in bands I found it was usually the rhythm intros and riffs that people identified with the most..it's the heart of the song. I have so much respect for someone like Mike Campbell who's soloing is always about the song itself and not about being all over the neck for 2 minutes. When I play Led Zep songs at home which I love to do...just like when I was in bands I love playing the driving rhythm and progressions but let Jimmy do the soloing. You are a skilled player my friend...and generous in sharing.
Awesome song. The outro piano, guitar overdubs, and practice with the slide will take some time. But it'll be fun. I will juggle it with some other projects that were requested earlier on.
OK man! Thanks for this! I have messed around with this song over the years trying to play along with it but I just couldn't get the timing right for coming in with the main riff. But thanks to the cymbal count ins you have on this I am able to finally play the damn thing....and I'm grateful!

excellent and it highlights just what makes this song so difficult, because it is showing the time signature differences between the various measures that contributes to the unique sound of this masterpiece!!!
Thanks. In case you're interested, for all tones and effects I use software called Amplitube Max. This software contains many virtual amps and pedals. I also offer screenshots of the virtual amps and pedals so that if you don’t have Amplitube you can attempt to replicate the tone using whatever equipment you have available. Buy a Gibson Les Paul if you want, but the secret to the great tone comes from wearing a Paisley shirt... (zo) So good of you to do this mr tabs, a massive help, thanks !
At bar 30 ish what you might call the B section, what they are doing is, each time they repeat the riff, they shift the pickup beats by a 16th note (without changing the riff of course). So first time it’s three 16ths pickup into the downbeat, second time only two (the third 16th now falls on the downbeat), third time only one pickup 16th, fourth time the whole thing starts on the downbeat. Simpler than it sounds and quite easy once you try it. It’s an old arranging trick shown to John Paul Jones by his musician dad.
Hey hey mama with that way to learn.....im gonna play it well...like a happy man...... amazing just waiting a lot for this to finally learn the outro solo
I need to compliment you on your absolutely marvelous playing. Im really impressed and i don't impress easily, I want to explain to you but first, please allow me to tell you a little story you might find funny. anyway if you can stick it to the end all will make sense. I was the biggest Led Zeppelin fan in my early teens and thru until forever. music seemed to come easily to me and i wanted to play guitar but I couldn't afford a guitar and neither could my parents. so i tried to build one, and with having not much success, but i was only about 11 yrs old. anyway, the guitar didn't tuern out too well, it didnt play at all but it looked cool and so i just turned it into an air guitar. now, i have almost like a photographic musical memory. somehow i can remember phrases really well and in great detail and ui loved zeppelin the most and i learned every note on every album, by heart, (not the band) and could actually air guitar songs so well, i would actually perform sometimes for my friends and they would watch me like they were at a concert. they would marvel. I know it sound funny and it was and yes we were all high as giraffe pussy. it was so funny. BUT I WAS good! ahhh but who cares, right its just fucking air guitar and about as useless as the video game guitar hero. but I would really get into it imagining that i would really be playing and my fingers would dance with these complex intuitive movements, vibrato included, that best mimicked how i thought it would be played. at one point I was actually going to audition for this lip syncing show they had on TV but it was cancelled quickly before i could get on it. Didn't really matter because by the time i was 16 i could save my money from my first job and i bought a guitar, and yes thank you, I believe i do play it well. Anyway, my point to all of this is that I KNOW these songs by heart. (not the band, lol). I have memorized every note in every song and solo on the live song remains the same album. I know the tempo as well, specifically, jimmy page's feel and tempo in his playing. it is a strange very loose style that I have never ever seen ANYBODY get until I saw YOU playing this. I have to say it was just fantastic. the only way i could imagine how you were able to do this is because you must have the same type of gift that i have. its not perfect pitch but Its like perfect pitch, (which i used to have, but lost it in my age) . but what Im talking about is more at perfect phrasing and tempo memory. I believe it is kind of a rare thing because you are one of the only other ones that i have ever seen actually really nail it. Im sure many other people do have it but its probably not really readily identifiable. Anyway, of course this has now turned into a huge novel right here and Im sorry but I didn't know of anyway to be able to relay how impressive it was to watch you perform this solo in PERFECT tempo and feel. your van halen shit is just great as well. Please keep it up. I will patreon you when i get some bread, you deserve it. thanks. a small request. how about doing a tabs of the Rush Exit stage left album version of Passage to bangkok? i believe that version of that live solo is the best solo eric ever did. is is just mesmerizingly beautiful. or, how about trying the Danny Dias solo in Do it again, steely dan. its pretty tricky, and i would love to see how accurately you could get that one. took me a little while to learn its kinda tricky, and not that easy a part although im sure you will have an easier time than me, you are a better player than me. just a brilliant channel and with tabs too? wow. Took me a while to get the tone and timing. I interpret the end of pages accapellas to land on the a of beat 3 in the second bar from where he starts. Timing for each section goes: 1: The and of 1 (longest pause of them all) 2: the 1 of 1 3: the 1 of 1 Break (oh yeah) 4: the and of 4 5: the 4 of 4 Guitar (hey baby) 6: the 1 of 1 7: The a of 4 8: The and of 1 Break (oh yeah) 9: The and of 4 (short break) 10: The and of 4 (short break) Probably the acapella is just recorded very loosely over the top and the timing is much less complicated than it sounds! That’s why played live they just come in on the ‘and’ of 4 everytime.
