After watching couple of these and went ahead and started fiddling around the suspension. Yes, my gsxr also had way too much preload. Must a a Suzuki thing they do at the factory. Thanks for putting out these videos, super helpful!
I wonder if that brake pressure sensor is an input for the display? Like throttle/brake green and red bars that go up and down with application. If not, maybe for some type of after market abs or for traction ctrl? 🤔
Got same on mine because can't reuse the brake light sensor with new rearset. Still need light on street. Have to put banjo brake light switch to plug on the electric wire instead of oem switch.
Rearsets come with brake light pressure switch as stock k8 foot pegs have spring operation on brake light switch ,only know as I recently got rearsets for my k8 K8 ,trick bits tricked everyone 😉👍
Noticed electronic brake light switch ,as I recently received 1 with rearsets my for k8 rizzla 1000 ,standard switch is old school spring function ,unless video red circle was refering 2 braided line , some 1 added preload 2 my k8 rear spring ,thanks 2 dave moss after a dodgy track day I started measuring rider sag and my 1st track day SMSP I had 15mm rider sag measuring with my partner who was 5 kg heavier than me my k8 had 96000 klm on it and shock was never rebuilt as id owned bike since 8000 klm at the time ,still ran around 1 min 46 SMSP ,bike now has 120000 klm ,had few things replaced rebuilt rear shock linkages and other general maintenance + nearly complete new fuel system bar bottom rail injectors ,shame old K8 handles better now at 120000klm than it ever did will be going SMSP for 3rd track day soon hope old k8 holds up ,still looks pristine, raising height in front end improves k8 handling ,they do have heavy springs I believe, will be giving her fresh oil + filter Motul 7100 majority of its life ,rizzla chomping at bit Keen as ,👍 Dave moss Is a champion ,
Thanks very much for using the videos for information to then inspire you to get your sleeves rolled up. I rode for a couple of decades before I did anything as bikes in the 70's and 80's were oil or air adjustable for suspension. No real other adjustments lol. Keep learning! :)
Dave, I have a similar rear shock issue to rider #2, no static sag whatsoever, but have 31 mm of total sag when I'm on the bike, 1 click in from minimum preload. Is this OK for street riding, or should I get a softer spring?
When you have no static sag at that rider sag number you need a stiffer spring. If you had the same static and rider sag numbers you would need a softer spring
@@catalystreactionsbw before I adjusted everything is what I meant. I’m 188 and set the back to 34 mm sag with about 10-12 mm free sag. Been working on the hydraulics to cure the rounded leading edge and sharp trailing still. I don’t do track days. Also, I need to get the rear shock serviced, it’s been almost 15k miles since the last.
@@Gixxerdude1k Thanks for the additional explanation. Excited to hear how you are learned via trail and error with settings BUT will have a very hard time with oil that old..... Still, always learning taking place!
@@catalystreactionsbw You are very correct on that one. I'm not sure that the rebound is even changing with adjustments now. I will definitely be getting it serviced before next riding season. I serviced the fronts myself and changed to a 10 weight to get some more rooms to play with for my riding style and body weight. I have learned so many tips and tricks watching your videos and have also applied what I have learned to others to.... "help them perform better." Thank you for everything you do. Hope to see you at Barber Motorsports someday.
Guessing k8 gixxer 1000 ,had preload set when they had heavy twin stock exhaust, Then when they are removed preload is way too hard because weight reduction.
We never get to know "why" stock settings are what they are. We also never get to know who signed off on these settings and how they were chosen, so we are left to find what works hence videos like this to provide guidance.
racetrack = stiff as hell = a ton of preload I could imagine those two misunderstandings could be responsible fpr at least some of the suspensions out there that have a lack of sag.
They make the riding world go round.
I see what you did there !

Thank you for rolling up your sleeves and leveraging the information in the videos. A sincere tip of my hat to you!

Have an 08 with 68k. Still running strong. Same issue, no static in the back.
Stiffer spring would cure that sometime in the future!
