    This is fascinating to watch. You're a true master at your craft. I cringed when you cut open the panels around the stock taillights, but the end result is fabulous. Keep up the good work!

    Now I see what you did, You used that ring to Form Body to, Doesn't need to be Chromed, Ever since I have Lime Disease, My memory is bad, I should watch whole video, Before commenting. Like you Back in my 30' I was know for fabricating Metal, Now in my 60's and Losing My Memory, I was a body man for Mercedes- Benz, Getting Old stinks. I wait for Gods calling, God Bless you Old Iron, Keep up The Great work.

      Yeah kinda bouncing around with ideas. But. I don’t necessarily want it to be just cars. Hence the word workshop. I’m going to try and keep a variety. At least that’s my plan

      Yes, the owner of the car and I have been talking about this for about 6 to 8 months. He was pretty adamant about having an original idea, but you still look stock like it belong there.

    Glad you did all your own metalwork from scratch.I’ve seen Oldsmobile and Pontiac quarter panel transplants and the exhaust pipe trick done before.

    Always loved driving a 3 on the tree.. my first vehicle was 73 c10 inline 6 with a three on the tree….
    Those lights are screaming “Blue dots”!!!!!!

    Ls engine assholes this is how its supposed to be done work with whats under the hood originally this is a beautiful ride ... guys let it warm up dont stress the old gal when cold

    Firestone RH-5 vise stand base. I have six of those wheels waiting for a repurpose just like yours.

    I like the project. One common mistake. The car is a 54 two sedan. The last year for the sports and business coupe was 1953. The rear side glass was shorter and the trunk lid is longer.

    EXCUSE ME I OWN A 1953 CHEVROLET CLUB COUPE! ALL THE COUPE'S REAR SIDE GLASS ARE SMALLER. I BELIEVE THAT IS A TWO DOOR SEDAN, IT HAS THE LARGE GLASS! AND IT'S EITHER A 210 MODEL OR 150 MODEL THE LEAST EXPENSIVE MODEL. THE 210 HAD CHROME BELOW THE BELT LINE, AND THE 150 HAD NO CHROME. THAT WAS SOME NICE METAL WORK SIR! REAL NICE!

    Iean Rousel did that on his 53 reworked no tails on body but made some taillights rings out of a aluminum can bottom brasied it to bumper guard

      @@Theoldironworkshop I live in Florida and that hurricane just went 150 miles away from me and I was hoping it would scrape by so I could get some rain and it I didn't get but a few drops of rain it took 2 days after the hurricane to get some rain

    Ya know when I 1st saw how ta put custom taillights on I was expecting 56-57 Packards but this looks more labor intensive ya gotta be a good welder which you are

    PERSONALLY I think the original tail lights would have looked better if they were frenched in about 4 inches. It would have stayed true to the body.. Round tail lights look out of place on that body. But thats just my opinion. The metal work is good though.

      Yes, I totally agree. The owner had a vision in his head and didn’t exactly turn out. He’s actually purchased some other tail lights that we’re going to probably change out this winter. Or whole different route I personally would’ve done 54 mercury

    My 2 cents
    Shave fuel door
    Custom skirts
    Bring inward the bumpers 4-6 inches
    Vintage rear bumper brackets with light to hold license plate ( smooth trunk) or Chevy V on it
    Light smoke tint on all glass
    Once done rechrome everything in black nickel chrome
