- Mother's Finest at Grugahalle in Essen, Germany, March 4/5, 1978, to my knowledge the band's first appearance in Europe but I'm not quite sure. Sorry for the gap at 5:03, couldn't manage to fix it, but I guess this song is worth being shared with the world :0)
Enjoy!
Mother’s Finest is what TRUE rock and roll music is all about!!!!
One of the best bands to come out of Atlanta, out of Georgia and the South. I am so glad I got to see them several times during the eighties. They blew the roof off the place !
still goosebumps after over 40 years.....overwhelming!!!
saw this band in St. louis in '76, can never forget the energy. Joyce KENEDY is top 10 female vocalist in my book.
Ich sah den Auftritt damals im Fernseher und war fasziniert.Jeder Song ein Feuerwerk.Das live Album welches ich mir danach zulegte war eines meiner besten.❤
Haha been giving you all my love since I first you in '77. I'm a forever fan and drove any distance to see you live for the past 45 years. So far ❤❤❤❤❤❤
2021 and still rocking hard!!!
The most underrated Band of all time.Crossed the barrier of Rock and Soul in the 70's!
Besser geht's nicht, Legenden meiner Jugend!
NEVER has there been a band with more feeling....& pure talent, to convey it! Never again......
How these guys didn't get more fame than they did I will never know one of the best Funk/Rock Bands ever.... I have been a fan since the first time I saw them on Don Kushner's Rock Concert
Many headlining acts of the day refused to tour with them because they didn't want to come on after them...
One of the best live bands ever. Saw them at a free concert in Atlanta back in the day.
@@JeffreyWhelchel Saw them at a free concert in Knoxville opening for UFO
@@cherylredford2642 UFO was another great band that didn't get their due in the USA anyway. I have 3 copies of UFO's Obsession album. Love that. Michael Schenker and his big brother Rudolf are 2 of the finest guitar players to ever pick up the instrument.
They were playing live with a lot of Southern Rock bands R&b didnt play most of their stuff because of it being too loud
One of the BEST live shows I've ever seen in my 62 years on earth, and I've seen A LOT!! I loved that the entire audience was singing and dancing the entire time....
Stop this track and switch on your radio! Got it?
So glad i had THIS when young.
As fine a piece of funkrock as there as ever been! Brilliant!
Can never get enough of this incredible song.
Started listening to them over 40 years ago. Love em.
Mind blowing live band
This mind-blowing performance is so outrageously intense, it's a c e r e m o n y .
This is the true feel ! The band with the bass.Baby Joyce is the sexiest women ever !!!!
Best Funk Jazz Ever!! Mother' s Finest! what ever!!??
One of the best bands ever.
Watching and loving still even in 2021 in the middle of the Pandemic. Such unbeated vibes!
I have been a fan for years !!! And the one thing I love about Joyce is she will add lyrics to a song every night. No song is sang COMPLETELY the same way every night. So much energy from a singer a little over 5 feet tall !!! Watch how the other musicians seldom take their eyes off of Joyce because they are never sure what she will do next. AND THE SHIT WORKS EVERY TIME !!!!
I still have an 8-track tape of them....& it still works! GREAT BAND!!!!
This song arrangement is amazing.
I remember Mother's Finest concert in Belgium most probably in 1976/1977 - it was phantastic
Mother's Phinest are fenomenal indeed.
What a show!! Killer of a Band!!
Oh man, so glad I found this video....the real loooong version of one of the greatest funk rock songs ever....love
Mother's Finest....got turned on to them when I met my drummer husband in 1976....sang a couple of MF songs
out on the road....there is nothing like this music to get right down to the bottom of your soul...Moses Mo playing some incredible guitar!
Yeah It`s still fantastic !
Saw them back in the late 70s and have been hooked ever since.
Mother's Finest Band Is One of The Most #Phenomenal Bands On Plant Earth. Grrrrreat Music, Phenomenal Musicians, Grrrrreat Stage Costumes, & Grrrrreat Spirits. Period! I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE them. ♡
Read an interview with Elwood Francis, guitar tech for Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, where he mentioned Mother’s Finest so I figured I’d check em out. Fired up a bowl later that night and put on this show and it damn near melted my face off. This is the kind of show where the air is still ringing in the venue for several days afterwards.
Wahnsinn! Der Funk springt total auf mich über!.....and I feel happy😅
they still kick ass, had a concert in frankfurt, absolutely sweet!
Baby Jean Kennedy and Murdock are the heartbeat of the band. She cant be from this planet ..her sustain heard all the way back to Maritta wherever she plays.
. Moses Mo screams and whispers.. he follows melodies and harmonies perfect and tasty. B.B. Queen..like Bonham of Zepplin adds in 3 times the beats as he weaves the entire sound together. A rhythm master he follows both the leads ..itss amazing to witness. Wyzard on bass is the very foundation.. a brick layer.. he steadily lays down what we're all bound to ..a rock solid heart pounding sound that makes you move.I could go on and on about this band. 40 + years to love them.. it's like Joyce sings " You're the best I've ever had."
Oh Lord what a great time. To me as a young kid at the age of 14 - it was amazing ! For us germans it was a kick in the ass - but a nice kick. I have seen this performance live at TV ( my parents go for a weekend holiday - thanks for this ) and as a result i ride the next week with my bycicle to the neigbourtown to buy a Mothers Finest Vinyl LP. What a tight playing Band ; today it is not possible that a Band like Mothers Finest had a great success. In a way the computer kills music ( mp'3s) - but that is another story. Nice weekend and a fine easter time for all the good people - Udo
Back in the day, a friend of mine turned me on to this album. I bought it and the next one too. Mother’s Finest is no doubt funk rock at its best. I still crank up the Kenwood with this classic cut still today! Wow!
Just an out of this mother group criss-crossing different genres. One of my favorite songs, period. This song is a million times platinum as far as I am concerned.
i’ve got a drumstick from mothers finest from my dad that he got when he was a teen. most underrated band ever!!
They can blow any headlining act off the stage. Seen them in 2016 in Atl and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Absolutely correct. I saw them for the first time in 1977 in Atlanta GA, and they were the first band to hit the stage. HOLY COW, Joyce came running on stage and it was ON!! they were followed by Kansas, Doobie Brothers, Heart, Foreigner and headliner, Bob Seger. ALL great, but the crowd was JAMMING to MF....Bob Seger also had the crowd wound up, but I've never danced and sweated so hard in a crowd of about 20 thousand people in 90 degree weather, as I did with Mothers Finest. Last time I saw them, was in 2015 or 16, in Greenville SC, and they STILL kicked the crowds ARSE!! I was so up and close to the stage, that THEY were sweating on ME and I loved it!!!! lol
Saw them in 1979 in Doetinchem, the Netherland. One of my first live rock concerts and changed my life!
Absolutely fantastic song!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 One of the most underrated funk/rock bands ever - such a same.
Too Awesome!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Rock and Soul!!!!
Saw them live in the mid and late 70s and I was blown away.
All my friends thought I was nuts for digging a funk/ rock band until they went with me to see them live.
They were heavy rock and funk all mixed together IMO they were a better live band than Funkadelic at the time.
Joyce Kennedy was just amazing to watch and she still has the pipes.
Thanks for this!!
Meine Sturm und Drangjahre! Was hatten wir doch gute Musik!
Ohja Iris !!
Iris, da hast du recht !! Mein Gott, bin ich alt... das war auch bei mir die Sturm-und Drang-Zeit, hey schaut mal her, was kostet die Welt ?? Ein Ticket zu Mothers Finest ? Na freilich !! gehmer
totally awesome!!!
just phenomenal ++++ !!!!!!
I met Joyce in Atlanta. Musical Genius. Very Beautiful Woman. Sweet Kind .
Saw them play again last night! They just don't give up a thing! What a Band! MF RULES!
If it aint from the 70's it aint shit!!
Man... 8:40 - 9:23 is the best thing I've seen in a while.
I am glad that I partied with them back then, especially when weed was weed. The late Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland was happening. I had no voice, and could barely hear anything, but I had a funkin good time.
Best band of all bands there are
Best Funk Band ever.....
I saw them back in 78 or 79 New Years eve at the Fox theater in Atlanta alone with the band BRICK , both bands blew the roof off.
So glad my brother turned me on to MF
Been following MF since 74. One of my all time favorites and I have seen everyone live except the Stones, Beatles, and Hendrix. Had a family member who played with Brick so you know they're one of my favorites. Those were the days! My older sister turned me on to MF while she attended Spelman College.
I was at that show at the fox.
Two GREAT Atlanta bands.
I was at that show!!! Totally Awesome!!!!
@@laryanryan9170
Me too!!!!
einfach super, erinnere mich noch an diesen Tag
Wish could see them again!! 5 yrs too long!
@ Depilartor6 Don´t mind about the gap! This performance is brilliant and the world needs to know it. I watched the show way back in 1978 and I was flashed. Still I´m flashed.
Nothing but AMAZING !!

came out in the mid 70's didn't shine because the record companies didn't know how to market them other band knew who they were and didn't want them on their show because they would have gotten their asses kicked.
You are 100% Correct!!!
I've been a fan for over 40 years now. I'm from Funkrock Ga and you are correct. Live they are insane! Just a power house! The drummer on this video was my favorite. He now plays for The Marshall Tucker Band. If you get a chance to see them, don't miss it. They are still touring but that may end soon. They's had an incredible run.
ROCK GODS that are Sooo! ,under rated
I totally agree !!!!!
yeahhhhhh!!!
They were in a weird place at the time from an an AirPlay standpoint but they were fucking it up then absolute one of the best live bands you could see at this time real music
