My daughter took my wife and l to see them at the Birchsmire in Alex Va a few years back and l fell in love all over again. I was already in love with Baby Jean Kennedy, but to see her in person blew my mind and she was 70 years old then. Believe me, she blew the theatre up. Kids today think they know real music. Yeah, right! Thanks Mothers Finest!!!
Probably the best perfomance I ever seen and my expectations were skyhigh after their legendary live album.I saw them in Stockholm in the 90s - rain was pouring but nobody cared about that because the consert was so outstanding.
My friend who passed away a little over a year ago turned me onto this and I am forever grateful for this and his friendship he was such an amazing person. R.I.P T I love you always.
Yall THE Freakin Best. Struggling EVERY Day FOR NOW. AND EVERY DAY YALL MOTIVATE ME AND LIFT MY SPIRITS. I KNOW THIS TOO SHALL PASS. AND I JUST WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR ME NOT LOSING THE BIT OF SANITY I HAVE LEFT. LOL. PEACE AND LOVE!!!
One of the best bands EVER! Got in to them when I was 18 and I'm 50 now and this still sends shivers. Saw them once years ago supporting Maze at Hammersmith Odeon and they blew the place. The grooves, the voice...man, what a band. Check out THAT voice of Baby Jean...
5XChamps2 Sap !! Hell !!! You got it right !!!! Baby Jane Dam!Dam!!!!!! Sho, Got it Right.Thats what i talkin bout. When ever my women and I are in each other present, I won't That !! Weltklasse !! "Baby Jean" Kennedy und Ihre Band hab ich Ende 70er Anfang 80er auf dem Open-Air in Bruchhausen-Vilsen gesehen.....MannMann,haben DIE da ein Musik und Lightshowfeuerwerk abgerissen...WAHNSINN!! Man muß sie 1 Mal live gesehen haben...Vergißt du nie!! UND Baby Love ist und bleibt das Hammerstück!! Very THX fürs einstellen!!
I love Mother's Finest! My mom and dad had this album back in the day and I would listen to the entire album. Rock on Joyce! Go girl! Never go out of style. Hall of fame music forever!! (smile)
I did see them LIFE....back in 1983...Before a crowd of 35.000 people... and trust me... atthat time it was a HUGE crowd.. And Im glad they still ROCK...!!!
Badasses, the original lineup. Joyce, Wyzard, Mo, BB.... 2021, and yeah, got some rust now, but you don't forget the first time they blew your face off, when you never heard of them before. Still loving it today.
Saw them in a small North Tampa club when they first came out in 72.. Next day I bought their first album and still have it. To this day, I can't get them out of my mind. A small club, but oh so jam up and jelly tight!!!
I know Joyce and Glen Since the late 60's played Bass with them when their Bass player got drafted circa 69-I can attest Joyce is BAD to the BONE! you should have heard her doing Aretha Franklin!! She Kicks Ass!
Niwana! Right on! Black guitar metal player and bass femalefrom AL. Only like 3 in our state. Hit me back girl! On the best note. Awesome freaking song. Remeber playing this when I was 14
Was für ein aufregender Mix aus Soul, gutem Funk, Rock und Blues. Viel stimmlicher Einsatz und eine absolut überzeugende und stimmige Performance. So sympathisch! Ich war etwas zu jung um zu kapieren was "Mothers Finest" eigentlich drauf hatte. Eine Rarität!
......watched it on German TV back then in 78 , ......."Rockpalast" , real party events for us youths before the days of MTV . Remember this song up to now , that funkrock really shook me and still does today !
saw this group many a time at the cellar in downtowne fay. n.c. the best nightclub in the southeast back in the late 70's early 80's what a great show. also saw them at the attic in Greenville n.c. and some club in Pembroke WOW....
These guys absolutely ruled southern rock in the late 70s and early 80s. They blew too many headliners off the stage to count, Aerosmith, Journey and a dozen better known bands were humbled at arenas across the South. The best kept secret in rock. The original southern funk/rock band.
i saw them at dekalb college when i was in school there , i stood right in front of the speakers the whole show fuckked uppp and loving it. oh yeah the producers opened the show my ears rang for a week.
I saw them live yesterday at the Burg Herzberg Festival. Awesome! A LOT better and powerful than I could ever have imagined from listening to MP3s and watching them on youtube.
Glad to hear all your Great Comments-Thats my "Baby Sister" I've known them since the 60's in Chicago, and Played Bass with them on a gig when their Bass Player got drafted-before they moved to Atlanta-so I'm a little Bias and proud of them-I think they deserve a Hall of Fame spot-Don't you?
Thanks for letting one of my rock gods let me have the pleasure of working with u guys in the states as your drum tech KERRY DENTON, JOEY WILLIAMS, MR.DEON THE MAN MURDOCK
Just found this song thru another vid......this has so much Funk that James Brown stood straight up out of his grave and said " Damn , that song got tha Funk !!! lol too bad i found this song like 35 yrs late but at least we can enjoy it thx to utube
When I was probably 15 or 16.. I got into a nightclub where Mothers Finest was playing. The name of the club was "Zorba's" .. I met some of the band and Joyce gave me a kiss on the cheek. I fell madly in love and didn't wash my cheek for a week..
they are playing in Atlanta(home town) this Sat night 9-17. Lost track of them for 20 years! Used to work at Master sound recording studio back in the mid 80's and partied with them all. Many a late night with the gang!!! May just have to drop by Sat night and say HI !!!!. Can't wait to see them again!!!! They were regulars at Alex Cooleys Electric Ballroom in the late 70"s
I saw MF a bunch of times when I lived in the south. Great band that combined greasy funk and hard rock. the last time I saw them the male lead singer was absolutely hammered. He kept forgetting to sing and he fell down more than once.
Sad to say, this band is not as well remembered as their other Southern Rock brethren. VERY underrated band. I remember Baby Jean's duet with Jimmy Farrar on the Molly Hatchet cut "Respect Me In The Morning" from the "Take No Prisoners" album.
Oh great you tube ! I enjoy this video from my residence in Thailand. I remember that i travelled 1978 as a 13 yo. Teen from Zürich to Essen (Germany). I'm sure it is the Concert at the Grugahalle (Rockpalast). Thank you for posting.
The most under rated band in Rock history ! They can funk , they can rock , Joyce can take it to the stage with tina tuner any day of the week and hold her own , and her husband's lead vocals are not the best but they compliment her voice with conviction. The Wyzard on bass can hold his own with the best of Bass players. He shows the rage of Flea and can show the sweetness of Marcuss miller mixed with the raw fury of Larry Graham ! Turn it up and listen to one bad ass band !
Perfection!!! Often overlooked, but once you hear their music it sticks with you for life!
Simply the Best... never understood why Mother's Finest wasn't mainstream gold. Perfect.

Probably the best perfomance I ever seen and my expectations were skyhigh after their legendary live album.I saw them in Stockholm in the 90s - rain was pouring but nobody cared about that because the consert was so outstanding.

Man, she was something else. What a rocking band from the proud 70's. I guess I'm just a sentimental sap.
Baby Jean is forever AWESOME!

MOTHER"S FINEST!
Thanx 4 sharing!
I saw them in concert in '77. They totally. Blew. Me. Away. Baby Jean's stage presence was unbelievable.
Donnie Pabalate you're the Lucky one man!!!!
I think her name is Joyce Kennedy. I might be wrong.
She also did something with Jeffrey Osborne
Weltklasse !!

I did see them LIFE....back in 1983...Before a crowd of 35.000 people... and trust me... atthat time it was a HUGE crowd..

We played in Gainesville in the early 70's and they played at the same club. They were absolutley awesome, and good people too.
My band opened for them in 78. What a great experience. They are still one of the best bands ever.

Saw them 25 years ago, way back in the 80's. It was awesome loud and funky. This thursday I'll see them again in dortmund! :)
i saw them at dekalb college when i was in school there , i stood right in front of the speakers the whole show fuckked uppp and loving it. oh yeah the producers opened the show my ears rang for a week.

OMG if that was released today it would go platinum. These guys put on one of the best shows ever at the Agora in Atlanta back in the day.
Love ya, Joyce. These guys fueled many a college party in Athens in 78-80.
When I was probably 15 or 16.. I got into a nightclub where Mothers Finest was playing. The name of the club was "Zorba's" .. I met some of the band and Joyce gave me a kiss on the cheek. I fell madly in love and didn't wash my cheek for a week..

I saw them at the Starwood in Hollywood in 197something. I was working for SIR studios. This band blew me away. I wish they were still around.
I caught at a show in Savannah in the 80's and been hooked ever since ... great band!!
Greatest band ever. One of our biggest inspirations.
