This was really helpful. Thank you! I'm debating between the 3 and the 2, and this review makes me tend toward the former. P.S. Your voice diction is similar to that of Woody Allen :-)
Backcountry Edge I actually came here looking for the specific review on this carrier since I want to buy it and it’s very well ranked, the mega beard was just a cool plus LOL. Cheers!
Do you have an opinion on this bag vs the Osprey carrier you did a review on for a small framed female? I have small shoulders and have a hard time finding a carrier that sits correctly on me. I even tried the Deuter Woman's version of their new active carrier and found all the weight was across my chest and not on my shoulders. Do you have a favourite for smaller frames?
Hi Kolby, great question! If you found the pack's weight fell across your chest it was either not adjusted properly or doesn't fit. The torso range for the Kid Comfort Active SL is 14"-19", so if you fall within that range, we'd expect the pack to at least partially fit. The Poco AG will have a similar fit range, and Deuter's SL line is usually a good go to for people who have difficulty fitting into packs. As long as the pack's torso length is appropriate and the hipbelt can be tightened enough that it is secure, you'll likely be able to find comfortable adjustment settings for the pack. Feel free to call in or email our Gear Specialists if you want to go into more detail! www.enwild.com/customer-support
Great review! You'be made another decent one with the Osprey Poco Plus. Which one would you go with for the 2-year-old? I'm having hard time finding the best answer...
+Tomek Jazlowiecki The Osprey Poco Plus has been updated and is now the Osprey Poco AG Plus which totes a much different suspension system. We certainly recommend checking that pack out prior to making any decisions. That being said, when comparing the Poco Plus to the Kid Comfort 3, the KC3 will offer much more space and comfort overall. The Poco Plus is the middle tier of Osprey's Poco line and the Kid Comfort 3 is the top-of-the-line from Deuter, so you'll get more bells and whistles with this pack. The suspension systems are slightly different, but both highly adjustable, so getting a proper fit won't be an issue with either pack. Also, each pack has convenient features that make it easy to take care of the child, so there are trade-offs no matter which way you decide.
There is no way to take the framed part off of this pack. It will most likely need to be stored inside of a travel bag and checked on flights.Check out the Deuter Transport Cover: www.backcountryedge.com/deuter-transport-cover.html
you can buy a case cover for it and I've never had any issues with leaving at the gate at the plane entrance where you would normally leave your strollers and carseats. you've clearly never had a child or have flown with one. google: bringing strollers and carseats on the plane. or clearly you've never flown, there is always a stack of strollers and carseats right before you step on any plane
Hi, I would really love to purchase this toddler carrier. but seems in our country (Malaysia) the price is higher. Is there anyway i could buy it from your store? -Barrak

Hi Chayla, this model has been discontinued and was replaced with the Kid Comfort Pro. Both share many of the same features, but the Comfort Pro has many updates to improve the comfort of the pack, as well as a detachable day pack! I thought maybe I'd want the kid II pack, but after this video I think the III is awesome! Love your review! So extensive.
Great review man. Really good pacing. Keep up the good work!

The little mirror = can be your mobile phone's front camera :)
Great point! I think Deuter designed these packs before everyone had a smartphone in their pocket, lol!

+Backcountry Edge So I went with Deuter KC3, as suggested and it seems like that was good decision. I appreciate your help.
Thanks for asking this question! Im currently having this debate!@@jazel1
is there a way to take it apart? the airline company won't let us bring it on the plane, unless it fits in a suitcase
