- Tucked away in Flushing’s Landmark Quest Mall is Yukun Shaobing, a 100 square-foot stall serving shaobing, Northern Chinese stuffed flatbreads. Ruokun Yu runs the shop, along with her business partner and roommate, Chunmei Tong. Across the street from Queens’ New World Mall, Yukun Shaobing offers 17 different types of shaobing including black pepper beef, cumin lamb, New Orleans chicken and many more.

That clap back review "you are not suitable for ordinary people food" 😂
Some people prefer McDonalds and that's sad but OK.
“Eating is my research” 😄 Love this mantra
The translation doesn’t capture that they call all their customers their friends, “peng you/朋友.” Shows just how much they appreciate people’s loyalty and business :)
Yes ... right ... and she was referring to the “Friend” that gave a negative review ... ❤️ then
@Kobe Died Lmao can u speak in Rona pls? We don't speak blm and sjw, and export democracy in China 😂
^ and by the way, how are your cases? You don't have to make a point by beating us in everything, including infections, you know?
@Kobe Died Lmao Oh my bad, the west all suck off the US, couldn't tell much of a difference otherwise. Maybe you are from one of the other shit shows of european countries, swarmed by far rights and lockdown protests?
Not sure why you think 1.4 billion people simultaneously caused a virus, but you do you.
It's as if an attack on your country wouldn't make anybody upset. But if you really believe calling Chinese people Rona isn't discrimination, then you might need to re-valuate your public school education in your country, and consider sending your own kids elsewhere.
If you really didn't care about OP's comment, you wouldn't bother. You're watching a video on Chinese food, you can kindly fuck off if you don't like it. Nobody is forcing you. Unlike you European colonial oppressors shits. 🤧
P.S, do you get off liking your own comments because nobody else will?
Flushing is a GOLDMINE. Queens in general, I just love how much culture and variation is there. I love that area, it feels like stepping off a plane when you come out of that 7station. I've never had bad food anywhere in Flushing. People care about their culture and traditions and are so proud to show everyone everything and I love that. Probably the only thing I love about NYC, I was never sheltered from diversity here. Definitely saved me in the long run and made me travel as an adult. I don't think I'd be as interested in experiences with other cultures the way I am now, if I didnt get to grow up around all types of people and food and languages. If you like cooking it also helps to diversify your palette and your PANTRY 😌💖
I loved taking out of town friends to Joe's Shanghai for soup dumplings!
@@rudi_ghuliani OMG YESSSSSS 😭 Mikey Chen put me on to soup dumplings and I've been ADDICTED. Strictly Dumpling is the name of that channel! Hes super great and one of my favorite channels for exploring Chinese cuisine and culture in NYC. I totally recommend him if you haven't seen him yet. He also does alot of international travel with so much great content! AND HES OPENING A KOREAN STEAKHOUSE IN TEXAS so now I have one reason to visit Texas
@@rudi_ghuliani very few things come close to those soup dumplings with the dipping sauce and chili oil
@@papa_pt literally nothing is better. Especially in fall and winter ...and spring...and summer 😪😂
@@rudi_ghuliani Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao is THE place nowadays, check it out. Heck in the same complex, Guan Fi Sichuan and Szechuan Mountain House are also excellent.
We found their stall last year while waiting in a really long line for Joe's Steam Rice Roll. It looked so good and we stood in front of it for so long that we caved and bought a few buns. Joe's rice rolls were good - these buns were better.
I’m Glad this platform of munchies is gonna bring more and new customers to their place.
They seem so nice, you can't help but want success for them.
what an incredible story of hustling, friendship and culture through food!
Hustling? Lol you are deranged brotha.
So much of hardship, a mother staying in a different country making sacrifices so that her kid has a better opportunities. They started a business doing what they knew from their family made back home. The indomitable human spirit. So much to learn from everyday people trying to make ends meet and live a little better.
OMG this brought me to tears. So wholesome, I wish I lived close to go and support!!! Please if you do, go and meet these genuine ass ladies!!! FOOD IS LOVE
Thank you Munchies for authentic Chinese food! We are from the same province (Shandong) , so happy to see people love the street food from our home!
When queen mother said "I DON'T WANT TO DISAPPOINT CUSTOMERS BY TAKING A DAY OFF" I saw my old days as a chef. I lived by that philosophy but never knew others felt like me. I love both of these Queens.
There is so much pride and joy behind her voice that you can't help but wish them success!
This place is great! I've been here many times and always enjoyed it.
What’s the address!!!! PLEASE!!!!
@@lesshawng3 136-21 Roosevelt Ave , Flushing, NY 11354
People have no idea the work that goes into this kind of business. These ladies are so dedicated to their craft.
What a great pair! Humble, honest, and hardworking. They deserve more than the greedy rich guys that take advantage of people whilst sitting on their ass.
I JUST ate there because I watched this video past night. The shaobing are REALLY good
Yo, my girl and i just came back from this place and it was totes worth it going from the bronx to flushing for these.
The bread is soft, toasty, a bit flaky and a bit salty. And the fillings are phenomenally complex and savory. I def recommend the spicy tofu, cumin lamb and pork onion mushroom varieties.
Make the trip. Its cash only so bring some bills with you, but def worth it.
I hope for everything that could possibly make the world just that these two owners find some staff good enough to help them open a brick and mortar and allow them to take days off. Wonderful people they are.
Would be great, but sadly, the quality may go down. Years ago, there was a dumpling spot inside a TCM herb store by Roosevelt and Prince. Dumplings, pickled cabbage and homemade chili oil were all amazing. Shop was run by a couple; as they grew they moved to a new location and hired help. Thats when the dumpling quality went downhill
@@c0unt3rStrik3s0urc3 It’s about a standard. Maintain that standard by making sure your staff are adherents to it. That’s how every great restaurant works.
@@maniswolftoman As a chef its hard to give away your recipes especially if you want an even bigger establishment. Can you see all the old restos in the US mostly owned and still operated by the Family members to keep the recipes in the family. Coz one wrong employee you lose your recipe and it gets passed or sold to others who have better start up capital then you get blindsided and you lose.
@@siarthur No. Not really. Actually it’s probably the fear to teach technique that holds back many establishments from expansion. Recipes are at best a rough guideline that explain an idea or technique, but as you know as a chef, they do not account for being shorted in your produce order, what to do when the listed ingredient can only be substituted for something similar but lacking in the specific flavor profile listed, what to do when a popular item cannot be made due to a failure in the supply chain, etc.
Chefs deal in the ability to solve problems, while cooks worry about having problems. I’ve never worked for a good chef that was scared to write down a recipe for one of their staff.
This is the kind of food that should be available everywhere. Truly inspiring!
I used to live in Flushing, but I haven’t been back since even before the pandemic. This video makes me wanna take the 7 train trek back and try their food!!!
Hard working Americans. Country built of immigrants seeking to make a better life for themselves.
"Chinese"
@@chenjoseph735 German British French Italians, the only true Americans are native indians.
@@kksan bro I'm a native with native blood and I hate when non natives say that dumb shit. Even we came here across the land bridge. We have clear defined lines with nations all over the world. I would dare any of you to step on the reservation where you don't belong and aren't wanted and see what happens.
They make it look so easy, but you can tell how many hardships they've gone through. Really inspiring.
Love their real friendship!
"What boss? Just workers." 👍
THIS is the American dream.
THIS is the american dream. I f’n love this!!!!
If I lived nearby I would probably buy like 4 or 5 every day! LOL! It's great how every culture has a kind of meat-filled bread, the original meal-to-go. Shaobing, kolache, burrito, calzone, etc... As long as it's made with passion and love, people will buy it!
Thats some real NY shit. Im going later
Look at me...You can c I love food. She is adorable..
I respect their hustle.....At the beginning It's okay to not to know the language properly in the the country you work ,but not even trying to and learn, that's next level....
Love how they cater the Shaobings to people of all regions! ~
Great coverage on this. Looking forward to paying a visit later today!
I absolutely LOVE stories like this ❤️❤️❤️
Great story! How wonderful they found each other and became such great friends and partners! I do love that they call their customers "friends". Now...if only they were in my neighborhood...in Minnesota!
So proud to see actually the ordinary food from my hometown brings more joyful to the people in the world!
Amazing story I love shaobing!
Looks absolutely delicious!
Those look amazing!
LMAOO I just had some shaobing from here . This food here is really good!
I was in Qingdao a couple years back for a study abroad program. Great people, great food, great memories. I haven't been to Flushing since the pandemic started, but it's a couple hour drive so I gotta go again and check out this place. Keep it real Munchies!
What wonderful people; I wish them success and happiness in this endeavor. You can tell they love what they do and are willing to work hard to make their customers happy. Shaobing are so delicious but are a little complicated to make in a home kitchen. I’d much rather have someone else make them for me. I just hope the ladies make some vegetarian varieties.
According to their menu board, they have at least two veggie varieties: cabbage and bean curd, and spicy tofu! The "strange bacon" variety could plausibly be vegetarian too I guess? Too bad I live way up in Toronto! I wonder if there are any shaobing places here...
@@K1ddkanuck Cool! Thank you for translating the menus for me. I’ll have to try to find them next time I visit the city. Have a great day.
I love love this. I want to try these for sure. Especially from these beautiful and innovative ladies❤
"You are not suitable for ordinary people's food."
Damn, that person should have given a 5 star review after that burn.
I cant wait to go. Love flushing and chinese cuisine
Hard work plus passion in what you do equals Success!
Great food, great story. Love it!
Yukun Shaobing, across the street from Queens New World Mall -- people say it's delish, I'll try it

Next time I go out I know where to go. Love living in Queens and NYC.
I love to see these videos on hard working immigrants!! Reminds me of my parents. keep supporting them, they need it
Looks so good, nice and crispy outside and a nice tasty inside... what more do you need on a rainy day! Besides a coffee or tea
i went there 2 times and tried the pork one and the lamb one and both were delicious! im going back there i love their shaobing!
Looks delicious 😋
Respect and best of wishes. Visiting soon!
Mouthwatering shaobing 😋😋😋
These look so good, if I lived nearby I'd go back all the time to try all 17 varieties.

Definitely gotta hit this up before a Mets game this summer

So so so hungry for these stuffed pockets of deliciousness.... but I'm only full of coffee...sad.
Inspiring. Gonna try to make me some shaobing to get a sense for this.
Hard working ladies 👍
this vid got me looking for the nearest spot that makes shaobing now. and i literally just ate
Going here next week
I will take all of them please !!!
I now have a reason to visit new York
Living the dream 👌🏻
Yup I already knew about the wonderful hidden eating places in Flushing through Strictly Dumpling's Mikey Chen! I think he also featured this place a few months ago. I love authemtic Chinese street food. Yum!
That's it. I'm moving to QUEENS.
real food
This looks so yum! I hope we can have this here in Sydney, Australia... 😭
good people
I wish I could catch a flight to NY right now to go try these
Use honesty to win the market = longevity
Shandong (East of Long White Mountains). Friendly but direct peoples.
直爽率真的性格,希望她们越来越好!
One day I hope i can vist their place.
Chinese immigrants understand sacrifice, hard work and community. It’s pretty amazing the progress they make in a dog eat dog city like new york while I’m not even speaking the native language. Thumbs up for sure.
Good.luck!
Omfg that looks so delicious, my grandmother is also from Shangdong
Another reason to go to NYC
They need to raise their prices, so much care and love goes into their craft they should at least make a little more.
加油!🤩
A man who never eat pork bun is never a whole man
how about muslims?
wow
Can y’all do an episode on Dönner Kebab?
Let me get a #15. yes, Strange Bacon. Thanks
how can they only charge 3-5 bucks, thats crazy cheap
天哪 在美国真的可以吃很地道的烧饼!
They could freeze some baked ones and then sell them over the internet for shipping, but they would need to expand and have a commissary for that, someone else to take care of that side of the business.
💯💯💯
They should charge more. I mean, I get why they don't. But they could.
People who have been there already write reviews if you can. I do it with all mom and pop restaurants I have been to
