Plenty of people have sung better renditions of this. The aria itself was meant to be sung by the type of tenor who Pavarotti is not, a dramatic tenor. Pavarotti also couldn’t and wouldn’t act his way out of a wet cardboard box.
@@jaime4022 Pavarotti is the Epitome of Operatic Singers! Not to mention he made THIS song famous and brought into Pop culture! Do some research ya knob!
@@infizex Greetings. I sang in choirs for many years: Bach, Beethoven, Verdi, etc. It is true that of these gentlemen, Pavarotti was vocally the best at that aria, but Domingo was a better actor and better at dramatic voice roles (Othello), Carreras was better at romantic, more delicate roles than the huge ones the other two usually did, and was a good actor. Regarding other tenors doing this aria better, look for Franco Corelli. His voice was crystalline, and more precise than Pavarotti's. Also a better actor. In the extremely hard profession of opera singing, there are no perfect artists; but there are the ones in which the sum of their perfection largely surpasses the sum of their imperfections. ✌
The way Pavarotti pats Carreras on the head shows their brotherly affection, one more remarkable basis of this collaboration. The Three Tenors became an iconic phenomenon, but we forget that at its inception it was unheard of that three divos would share a stage. They broke new ground, opening operatic singing to new listeners, showing that world class artistic excellence and camaraderie, beauty and fun, can exist on the same stage together.
Crying over their voices, no matter how many times I watch this video. The last note is amazing... I can't explain the way I feel everytime I heard it.

I just laid my dad to rest and he would play this louder than I played Black Sabbath. Now I am doing the same to honor his memory. A classis song sung by classic men in memory of a outstanding father.
I love that Pavarotti was so giving. Sometimes that sort of talent wants to suck the air out of the room but instead he always seemed to genuinely delight in sharing the stage not just with other brilliant tenors but with all sorts of musicians. He's sorely missed.
I understand how folks love Pavarotti, but I go for Domingo's broad musical talents and for Carreras' pure, sweet sound, and especially for the magic they made together. They broke new ground in classical music performance, introduced millions to the music, and remain an unparalleled trio.
I could and often do listen to it daily. It is “church” for me. Absolutely splendid and arousing, especially the last word where all 3 give their ‘best’.

I had the amazing privilege to have had a mother who blared Luciano & Domingo thru our home as I was child , and took me to see Tosca at the Met when I was 7. Luciano’s always carried a bent nail as a good luck charm, my mother found a bent nail , had it covered in 14 caret gold and gave it to an usher , a few moments later Luciano asked to meet my mom . We went backstage and will never forget his enormous hands as he placed it on top of my head and called me princepessa. I didn’t understand how incredible that moment was until I became an adult . Sadly lost my mom almost 2yrs ago and played Nessun Dorma on a loop during her final days. The tears haven’t stopped flowing
