Temp sensor is above the right radiator. I shifted mine slightly so that it is now in the air duct in the fairing and temps seem to be spot on now.

Great review Tony. I bought a new ATAS ES 2024 manual last year. I also had test rides on the tiger 900, tiger 1200 and the GS first but it was the Africa twin that had a soul the others just couldn’t match. Best looking too. One of the best bikes I’ve ever owned and ticks all the boxes for me.

I have the bike and you are 100% correct about the power. Huge torque that makes it feel powerful. All my previous bikes were sports bikes, and my last bike was zx14. I was a little worried about the 100 hp before I bought the bike, but after I rode it all, my worries went off

A very comprehensive overview, I loved my AT DCT, I got on with the DCT 30 seconds into my first test ride, and as you said it has been refined year on year. You look very smart in your Klim suit, love the colour.

Hi Tony, thanks for the review. I have become a big fan of your channel. I’m fortunate enough to own 2018 Honda GW Tour DCT that I really enjoy. Especially when riding with my wife. My other motorcycle is 2022 Aprilia Tuareg 660 I’m sure it is not as comfortable as the Honda AT on tarmac, but is great adventure bike for American BDR I’ve taken it on. Keep up the great work.

Nice review, always better to get an owners point of view rather than a blogger or dealer. I really fancy one of these I currently have a varadero 1000 so weight and power about the same but just a newer bike as mine is now tired with over 60,000 miles on the clock so this has been very helpful

Great video Tony fully agree with what you find good/bad
Heat soak into the thermometer make it read massively over if park up in summer.
I do wish the cruise activated at 20 rather than 30MPH…..
And the S1 setting for the DCT should be the standard drive mode

Of all the big bikes i think its the best.
Its balanced in all the right areas.
Never ridden one but loved my RD07A. Albeit a very different hike. (1999)
A 500cc version is very much needed. The nx500 is a good bike but it's a lazy effort, when you consider Honda's pedigree.
Good job we aren't all the same. Enjoy the new version.
    Ride safe 👍

I live in Central Florida where heat and humidity are common. I was one of those that couldn’t tolerate the heat that blew right on my knees any time the temperature was over 82 degrees. I’ve ridden my whole life and don’t mind a bike being warm…like standing next to an oven warm. However blowing constantly on my legs and knees like a hair dryer was a deal breaker for me. I agree it’s only “some” that complain about this. Perhaps it’s a combination of my 6’2” frame and living in Central Florida but none of the other bikes I’ve owned blew like a hair dryer on my legs. My bike was a 2024 standard DCT. I also was one of the unfortunate ones who’s bike’s front tire/wheel would really shake when off the throttle. My dealer balanced the wheel and that made it worse. I changed the tire and it was still there. I was so disappointed because I’d wanted an Africa Twin for years.
The bike I had before it was a 2024 Transalp. I won’t lie I REALLY miss the Transalp! It felt 100lbs lighter, NEVER blew heat on my legs and was NEVER hot. The worst thing about the Transalp is the tubed tires!

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  8 дней назад +1

Fair enough, whilst we get hot days here in the UK, we'll never experience the sort of humidity that you guys will. A few people have mentioned the shake, and I've never experienced it. I hope its not something that blights the 2025 model

    • @Hookmeister
      @Hookmeister 8 дней назад +1

@@richardturenne4843, gotcha. I admit giving up after making the first attempt to balance the wheel at the first oil change, and then having the dealer replace the tire at my expense. The dealer reported the issue to Honda. Per the dealer Honda approved the claim and is sending them/me a free replacement tire. It’s been about three months since I was told that. Pretty sad experience for a brand new bike.

i'm sure people would say that Africa Twin has less power than 1300GS or doesn't have all the bells and whistles that GS has...but when it comes to reliability and price ....Africa twin beats the GS by a long shot....at the end of the day, as a buyer, we all want our dollars go far and Africa twin checks all the boxes. It is the best ADV.

I own a 2021 atas. 39000kms and majority off-road on BDR s or forest services roads etc, it performs great on both and off road. Only mechanical issue has been the rubber oil pressure grommet on the lower front side of the engine case that began leaking/seeping, had my mechanic take it apart, clean it and totally reseal it and it’s been fine since. This bike makes me smile every time I ride it.

Unfortunately I did not have 2024 ATAS-money when fall came and I got a deal on a used Vstrom 1050XT. Has everything I need and while I’d have loved CarPlay I just got a Carpuride-thing that’s hopefully do. Well see how prices work out on these the next few years, if they go down to managable I’ll take mine in manual.

That 10/1 compression ratio makes the engine less powerful for sure but it will run fine on low octane fuel (risks of engine knock) and an Austrian RUclipsr has passed 400 000km on a 1000cc version. Spec’d out the same they will be about the same price, a bit less for the Honda but by the time you out the center stand, crash bars, quick shifter, etc, the Honda really adds up. Agree with both the positive and negative points you raised but would like to reiterate for a big bike if you want to get a wiggle on she can certainly pick her skit up and motor along, it’s like riding a big enduro bike which is remarkable for a beast this size. Finally it is one of those bikes that after 3 years of ownership still makes you look back at it when you walk away. As always keep up the good work, look forward to hearing about the new bike. • @mancavemoto

I guess that depends on what you want. The AT has more power (torque more noticeable than HP) and is of course bigger and heavier. The adjustable screen, cruise control, heated grips, tubeless tyres etc are all worthwhile. For me the DCT makes a big difference too. But I do enjoy the Transalp and a friend joined me on a trip to germany (links at the end) and we rode together fine. ruclips.net/video/-Uref32S5vw/видео.html

Good question, and I have too. It comes down largely to how well the bike is looked after. I used some clear protection tape on that front spar and it’s worked well. You just have to keep an eye out for any stone chips and deal with them straight away.

19inch fron wheel is exactly the reason why I wouldn't buy atas again. mine is 2022, ATAS manual with 59k km. in debut I had oil consumption-huge! 500-750ml every 1400-1600km! now 10W40 and is 82% better

Would you be willing to make a video on how to setup the apple car play? I have a 2024 and I’ve given up trying to get it to work. I’ve spent hours trying to figure out how to connect it. It seems as though there aren’t any good videos that can help on RUclips.

Why did you removed the Crashbars and the skid plate from SW M.? Best regards

Im trading in for this exact model so this review was well timed. Can i ask what handlebar mount youre using for your insta 360 please? Im looking for an alternative to having my camera on my helmet. Thanks.

I just picked up my AT in November I'm loving it so far. My only criticism is the mirrors have vibration issues making them rather blurry at about 30mph and the self cancelling indicators are a waste of time they almost never work as intended. Everything else has worked perfectly.

My 17 AT has manual signals, the way I like it.

@richardvalitalo3670 so does mine because the self canceling is unreliable. It's a good idea because people generally forget to turn them off, hell I've been guilty of that myself, but they just don't work.

How's fit & finish on yours Tony? Seen a couple of newish Africa Twins with corrosion/scabbiness in the downpipe area directly behind the front wheel 🤔

It’s been OK, the down tube of the chassis takes a beating from debris off off the front wheel. Bit if you keep an eye on it, it’s fine

I could do without the "excitement" of a KTM thanks. Prefer to know my Jap bike will get me there, and back home again.

Yes, of course. The reliability is boring. Much more fun with a KTM. So many sudden Adventures.😂

I've a 22 model basic adventure no fancy suspension or dct ( I put a quick shifter on) which is excellent, the new more road focused bike with a 19" front wheel is tempting. I'll hang on see what you think and go for a fully loaded on next time.
