Masked Dedede will always be my Favorite Boss in all of Kirby. Heck he's the first boss I ever lost to in Super Star Ultra because my smol brain kept flying to the top of the *Electric Cage* he sets for this beautiful deathmatch

Having Dedede tilt the arena into the lava with his weight like that one mini boss from Twilight princess was an amazing idea for a harder extra fight. I seriously didn’t see it coming and it adds another layer to this already intense fight.
I always thought more about the second Bowser fight in Mario 64 lol, but yeah, it gets especially tricky when half of the arena sinks into lava and the other half has lava puddles from previous attacks.
Dedede's theme is a battle with a familiar face (either possessed or not). Masked Dedede's theme is a battle against that same friend, but now he's out for your damn blood.
Honestly, seeing the king actually try to fight the first time he became masked was wild, and it still is. No goofiness, no smugness, just a pure badass.
Reasons why Dedede is not such a bad guy: He begged Kirby not to fight Nightmare by clinging onto his stubby leg. 2. He helped fight Queen Sectiona by throwing him a Miracle Fruit 3. He saved one of the Waddle Dees in “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” and sacrificed him self by fighting off the Beast Pack. Any more reasons in the comments.
In SSBB: 1.) after being woken up by Ness and Luigi, he thanked em and the 3 decided to contribute to freeing the other fighters, 2.) Even tho he had let go of his greedy self, Dedede gets kicked by a Cocky Wario, challenging him to face him as previously Dedede sent his Waddle Dees to distract and confront wario, and took his floating cart that held a Trophenized Ness and Peach, adding Luigi to his collection, but was helped back up by Ness and Luigi, all three letting him know that (idk why they showed their palms to warrior, causing him to drop his jaw). (This cutscene happens when you free Wario from his trophy form) 3.) He took on Bowser after freeing him from the trophy, and after the second time he freed a cocky and pride-wounded bowser, he smacked him letting him know that he’ll beat his ass again but it ain’t worth it and also that his “Master” (Master Hand) has been defeated, thus giving him an option follow a pointless treacherous leader or help the gang free the others so that they can crack a second chance at fighting the bigger threat (Tabuu) 4.) He was excited to see Kirby in the Subspace Emissary after Kirby found Trophenized GanonDarf before Bowser proceeded to take out his aggression on Ganon for Backstabbing him after all the work he did for him, and Dedede proceeded to drag Kirby along gently.
He's only been the antiganist out of ill will once. All other times he's been fighting for a good cause (e.g. defending the star rod to not awaken nightmare) or been possessed/brainwashed (e.g. every other game)
In kirbys adventure, he helped kirby fight nightmare by inhaling kirby and the star rod, then spitting him towards nightmare, equipping him with the star rod and let him fight nightmare.
I've had the headcanon that at the point of him getting controlled in KatFL, he was always that strong, it's just that the mind control was making him go all out. Even the elemental attacks are easily explainable as he's always had them IE lightning powers in Kirby Pinball and that the hammer attack's charge attack sets it on fire.
That forgotten lands gameplay was pretty smooth with that strong utilization of dodging to slow time and spit the stars. good one. Felt better than watching someone just sit there with the gigant blade or repeatedly freeze him with ice power. :V although still wish a lotta bosses had more HP or the upper end of copy powers dealt a bit less damage so you'd atleast on an upper average fight get through a single rotation of all their skills before they die. >_>'
Well with my experience the ultimate tournament Z makes it not really possible to go through the whole thing with just ice becuase Phantom Meta Knight just has too much health to take down and attacks so much that it's hard to manage to even freeze him at all so it's best to just grab the sword and go from there.
How the Hell do you manage to defeat bosses before their skills repeat? Unless its those Attack Boosts and Copy Ability upgrades..... Edit: All Hammers. Works like every Kirby game lol.

Forgo dedede is my favorite version they’ve done of dedede so far At first it’s just a typical dedede getting controlled until he LIFTS A GIANT PILLAR AND TRIES TO SMASH YOU WITH IT! Then after you beat him, he pulls a King K. Rool and gets back up and captures Elfilin and rides off. Then you fight him again and he’s dual wielding hammers and wearing a tribal hog mask. COOL! Then after you beat him down again, HE DROPS THE HAMMERS AND STARTS CHARGING AT YOU ON ALL FOURS LIKE A DEMON OUT OF HELL!!! And for the best part, after you snap him out of it, he’s genuinely happy to see Kirby again. Then the beast pack starts barreling in as a huge horde and D3 sacrifices himself to buy Kirby and the waddle dees time to escape in the elevator, knowing fully that he might not make it. I love King Dedede so much man 🥹
It’s nice that you included Battle royale, Blowout Blast, Kirby Fighters 2, and even Super Smash Bros. While all those games are not canon since they’re spinoffs, they’re all still pretty good.

Masked Dedede in Triple Deluxe is interesting because even though he has his jet hammer, hes doing regular dedede choreography and moves. Its not until the second phase where he mimics his masked moves with the battle ax, even using magic to mimic the missiles
