- In this video from November of 1992, we see the new R110A's leaving the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn after being on display along with its' IND sister cars, the R110B. The cars are seen being towed by diesel locomotives to 207th Yard, even though they were capable of operating under their own power. When they were in service, they operated on the '2' Seventh Ave. line. These cars were the prototypes for the present-day R142/A subway cars. THE CONSIST: Seen here are cars 8006-8007-8008-8009-8010. The other unit of five cars were numbered 8001-8002-8003-8004-8005.
I love how they made an old station become the transit museum of NY!! Classic!! :)
You mean the Court st station. At 99 Schermerhorn St!
Nice video!! Wow look at how shiny and new those Republic diesels were. They just came out then. Diesels 906, and 907 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
That is so cool, u should have taped them towing the 110b
These cars had transverse seats much like the cars on the current "D." I like that.
Very cool, now those 110's are just flower pots.
Greetings from 2021 the R211 is now finally here
WOw! This is how trains look in the mouthy and years was born (nov23,92)
very nice catch
Great vid!
I really wish these trains were in service!!
XxLiLGiJoE17xX it can't.
@@arielgonzalez5296 he said he wishes so theres no point saying it can't
Actually the R110A/B were testing trains. The MTA wanted to test technology before buying the R142/a R143 R160 and R188.
EASTERN NETWORK duh thats why they are called "Prototype" R110A/B
you know they should keep the r110a for the 6 1 3 lines
Glenn Bullock Why?
Not anymore dude they use pump trains
Its too late now they use it as pump trains
[insert footage of the R110A that caught on fire]
The r110a is a prototype. Those subway cars weren't meant to last long. Just like the r110b.
Why don't it drive itself!!!!
NYCT Enthusiast I think 1994 is the year the 110A got the boot if I’m wrong they were lazy
@josemartinez223 Thank you!
R.I.P R110A And R110B
I remember Riding a R110 from West 4th street to Far Rockaway on the "A" train line.
At the time everyone loved them but looking back I will always hate the design that makes all the new trains red L.E.D. on the front, killing the color scheme subway system essentially.
mtanyc i rembember i was in a r110A 2 train to time square it was cool
I'm watching this video after me seeing the R110a A cars get transferred to South ferry terminal to get converted into pump cars
I think the R110A's had braking issues.
I would love to know what route does it take to transfer those cars to the 2 line from the transit museum
Easy, goes to hoyt st (next stop) than reverses up the A line to 207th st, where there is a connection to the 1 line, back down to Manhattan and comes back up the 2 line from there. Alternatively he could from hoyt shoot up the F/D to Concorse yard where they have a connection to the 4 line and head to 138th I believe and reverse to the 2/5 from there. Several interconnections between the A and B division lines...
@@wukichra you call that easy omg wow
@@dianebrown4955 technically it's only two changes of direction hoyt and coming into grand Concourse inter division moves occur all the time.
Robert Wukich It is still way too complex. Luckily with my new Nassau-8th Avenue plan revisions, the World Trade Center E train platforms will no longer be used in service (E rerouted to Brooklyn). This means that the museum can relocate there, and also have a direct deadhead to the 207th Street Yards and the IRT Division.
But where are those trains now?
deep in east river ;C
They are being used as pump cars for the MTA
Why pump trains keep the r110a in the transit museum.but it's too late now.
rafael asuncionXD they are pump trains but the r110b they are in a yard not in service
r142/a born on 2000 r188 born on 2011
bye bye R110B
R110A*
Before open gangway cars arrive the mta should test the open gangway with the r200a and r200b.
Alex The mta and r179,r211 fan, weather fan The mockup for the open gangway was presented in 2017, and was met with positive reception.
An2nio Productions That joke is getting too old.
An2nio Productions With open gangways, you won’t even hear the crying baby.
Plus it’s safer and also allows for increased capacity on some of the busier lines.
An2nio Productions Bad smells will NOT affect all the cars under the open gangway option. It will affect one and a half to two cars at most.
In addition to that, the homeless problem is not as bad as people claim. Yes there’s a homeless person on the trains every once-in-while, but it’s not a MAJOR deal, nor is it big enough to not pursue open gangway cars, which are used by other cities with similar problems New York is facing.
An2nio Productions That won’t happen. Homelessness is not a big problem.
But I believe there is a compromise for the open gangways. I believe that we can implement the open gangways, but each end will have what I call “fire” doors that are set to the locked position by default. They will be controlled by only one means: train crew controls. The handles will be invisible in the open position. This way we can have open gangways plus the 10% increase in capacity every New Yorker is yearning for, while allowing for the train crews to close off cars if AND ONLY IF they need to (ex. All doors malfunction in the second car. Crew is alerted, Road Car inspector comes in and assesses the situation. If the doors can’t be repaired on the spot, then the RCI tells the crew to presses some buttons on the console to enable the fire doors to the second car to close. Everyone is directed onto the rest of the train and the train gets on its merry way to the end of the line and to the yard. Once the issue is fixed, the crews activate the fire doors to return back to open position).
Honestly, one homeless issue should not mean that we shouldn’t use open gangways for increase in capacity. Everyone in New York wants open gangways. They received positive praise when they had a mock-up of the open gangways in 2017. Did you even give any feedback about them at the mockups?
Why R110A's withdrawn from service?
It went in flames and the brakes were shit same for the 10B so they got the boot by late 2002 the 10b is at the MTA emergency train facility and the FDNY Academy and the 10A are ether pump trains or used for parts at 239th
who did the voice of the 110s and the early R142s?
R110A and R110B: I have no clue :/
R142 OG 5 line: Melissa Klenier
The R110a and R110Bs are probably TTS
TTS was around in the 1990s?
@@patrykplayz7
@@JasonTrain2010 Yes it was
I want them to come back! the trains had no problems except brakeing they can fix that right?
No they had more problems to lead to retirement
They had a lot of train fires
They weren't meant to last long anyway
nobody everybody dies when the rip apart and fly onto the platform
when was this
1992
They look similar to the R142As
Coco Key rules Hostinger drools that’s because they are
Too bad you didn't hold the camera still or at least swing it less. I was getting vertigo.
R110A is stripped of parts rotting away at 239 yard
which car numbers? 8005-8010?
Ok
mmmm its a tough choice but i'd say r110a
its an R188 at front but its white
Mihai codrin Vitovschi Also A R142
Burned Noodle also a r142a
and bye bye R110A
Why 😡
Because one explosion happened and they canceled those two models
Am i I the only one who thinks the old IND train looks exactly like R62 and R142 looks like a R110
And the old BMT trains look like the new BMT train it's stupid for the mta or St. Louis company got rid of the old ones just for look alike
