I think another reason why the “NO!” scene is so badass is due to that fact that apes are so similar to humans. The biggest thing that separates us from them is speech so seeing an ape shout “NO!” kinda breaks the barrier of us from them so it’s super shocking and surreal.
@@hihowareya4004I mean they already can be taught to have full conversations just not to speak. There’s evidence that some Gorillas and Chimpanzee that were taught sign, and to recognize words by picture can 100 percent understand a great big chunk of what their human caretakers say to them. I think that this is super cool. ( it would be cool if they had the vocal structure to form words in any human language though I agree).
I always admired how Caesar never wanted to kill the humans in this trilogy, rather just break free from their rule. I never saw it as him being weak, but as Caesar actually being the bigger individual. Caesar was a great leader because he kept his eye on the actual goal, which was for his kind to be free from human rule. He only killed when it was absolutely necessary and he always did his best to not make things personal. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes when Caesar and the other apes rencountered the humans he even tried to make peace with them rather than go to war, because he knew how devastating war could be for both the humans and the apes. A wise leader always searches for peace if it is possible rather than solve problems through violence. Caesar didn’t force the apes to hate the human race, he didn’t ask them to kill every single one of them (like Koba), he just thought about what was best for his kind. Caesar knew in order to be a higher species you must be better than the ones who abused you. I saw the trailer for the 4th movie and I’m so hyped for it! Tho it seems some apes have learned nothing from the humans and are beginning to act just like they did after becoming the dominant species. Hopefully this knew character (who I believe is named Noa) will take after him and follow in his footsteps.
In this movie he still has a soft spot for humans, as he thinks of his dad that took care of him, he realizes there's good and evil men, knows who means well and who doesn't, it's awesome to see the development through the movies
36:22 did you forget that James Franco was talking to Cesar and Cesar understood every word he said so that means he knows English and American Sign Language. He just didn’t have the book vocals yet.

I had my first racist incidents in the 1st and 2nd grade. I was in a school where all the other black kids was in special education. I was told I drank vanilla milk because I was “trying to be white” and was bullied every day. It came to a head when I wrote a note to one of the boys in my class telling asking if he liked me. When he didn’t answer I asked him to his face. He said he didn’t. I asked him why. After thinking about it he said, “because I look like a monkey”. When I got angry and cursed me one of the kids out, my mouth was washed out with soap. A couple of years later when I tried to talk about it I was told, the school wasn’t racist, it was predominantly white”. I never mentioned it again for 15 years later. As I was talking about it with a coworker water started dripping on my face. I thought it was the air conditioner but it wasn’t. Then I thought maybe it was a leak in the ceiling. There wasn’t. I was crying as I was talking and completely unaware of it. Hearing you talk about being sensitive about the talk of apes, made me realize I am too for the same reason. Speaking up takes some of the sting out of being dehumanized. Thanks for sharing.

Only a quick and curious date; the name of the ape protagonist of the new ones (Caesar) is the same name that the son of the side character monkeys from the first one and the protagonist from the fourth one has, so I have to give them that point of cinema. It is as well explained in the new ones how the world ended up like in the first one, even if they don't mention the virus thing and give all of the credit to nuclear wars, but it is still very self explainatory when you see the humans acting like monkeys in the first one, wich is referenced on the third one of the new trilogy.

Movie idea Jurassic park
There was supposed to be a 4th movie coming out. But don't get too excited because remember. The Planet Of The Apes franchise including the failed 2001 remake are now all own by Disney.
I'd be insulted too. the person might not have consciously meant it as an insult, but Black people have been regarded as subhuman soooo, not funny. ANYway.... this movie is great. Glad you're reacting to this series. Looking forward to more.
