I think another reason why the “NO!” scene is so badass is due to that fact that apes are so similar to humans. The biggest thing that separates us from them is speech so seeing an ape shout “NO!” kinda breaks the barrier of us from them so it’s super shocking and surreal.

There’s evidence that some Gorillas and Chimpanzee that were taught sign, and to recognize words by picture can 100 percent understand a great big chunk of what their human caretakers say to them. I always admired how Caesar never wanted to kill the humans in this trilogy, rather just break free from their rule. I never saw it as him being weak, but as Caesar actually being the bigger individual. Caesar was a great leader because he kept his eye on the actual goal, which was for his kind to be free from human rule. He only killed when it was absolutely necessary and he always did his best to not make things personal. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes when Caesar and the other apes rencountered the humans he even tried to make peace with them rather than go to war, because he knew how devastating war could be for both the humans and the apes. A wise leader always searches for peace if it is possible rather than solve problems through violence. Caesar didn’t force the apes to hate the human race, he didn’t ask them to kill every single one of them (like Koba), he just thought about what was best for his kind. Caesar knew in order to be a higher species you must be better than the ones who abused you. I saw the trailer for the 4th movie and I’m so hyped for it! Tho it seems some apes have learned nothing from the humans and are beginning to act just like they did after becoming the dominant species. Hopefully this knew character (who I believe is named Noa) will take after him and follow in his footsteps.

I had my first racist incidents in the 1st and 2nd grade. I was in a school where all the other black kids was in special education. I was told I drank vanilla milk because I was “trying to be white” and was bullied every day. It came to a head when I wrote a note to one of the boys in my class telling asking if he liked me. When he didn’t answer I asked him to his face. He said he didn’t. I asked him why. After thinking about it he said, “because I look like a monkey”.
When I got angry and cursed me one of the kids out, my mouth was washed out with soap.
A couple of years later when I tried to talk about it I was told, the school wasn’t racist, it was predominantly white”.
I never mentioned it again for 15 years later. As I was talking about it with a coworker water started dripping on my face. I thought it was the air conditioner but it wasn’t. Then I thought maybe it was a leak in the ceiling. There wasn’t. I was crying as I was talking and completely unaware of it.
Hearing you talk about being sensitive about the talk of apes, made me realize I am too for the same reason. Speaking up takes some of the sting out of being dehumanized.
    Thanks for sharing.

07:00 animals that have been tested on can’t be released back into the wild for 2 reasons,
1 if any of the testing done on them can be passed on to other animals in the wild it could potentially cause the species to die
    2. If they’ve spent a large amount of their life in a testing lab they will not know how to survive in the wild,
Best they could hope for is to be reformed to a sanctuary

Buck and Luca obviously being gorillas, Maurice is an orangutan, Koba is a bonobo ape, which are genetically the most similar to humans, even more so than chimpanzees. (Which is ironic since bonobo's are typically much friendlier to humans given the genetic similarities, and Koba absolutely despises humanity, while chimps are typically more aggressive and Caesar actually likes humans and rather quite admires some humans.)

I don't actually see anyone commenting this properly, so I'll do it myself:
The trilogy of the actual movies of Planet of the Apes (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War of the Planet of the Apes) is a prequel to the series of the Planet of the Apes movies that followed the 1960 all the way up to the 2000: Planet of the Apes (1968), Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) and Planet of the Apes (2001) (the last one being a remake from the first one with a plot and a development completely diferent). All of them are very cringy to watch, since every ape role is played by a human disgised as a chimp acting as a chimp (especially in the Rebellion of the Planet of the Apes, just with the trailer you all will agree), but either way I won't spoil anything for any weirdo that actually wants to see all of them after this (seriously, don't do it, like their not actually bad, but it's still extremely unconfortable to watch them do the monkey). Only a quick and curious date; the name of the ape protagonist of the new ones (Caesar) is the same name that the son of the side character monkeys from the first one and the protagonist from the fourth one has, so I have to give them that point of cinema. It is as well explained in the new ones how the world ended up like in the first one, even if they don't mention the virus thing and give all of the credit to nuclear wars, but it is still very self explainatory when you see the humans acting like monkeys in the first one, wich is referenced on the third one of the new trilogy.

The only movie reboot/prequel series thats better than the original. The simian flu is one of those most brilliantly thought out virus to explain the state of the originals

It is a common misconception that we use only 10 percent of our brain. we use our brain to its full capacity and if all the neurons fired at the same time in the brain you would have stiffness or seizures followed by death.

Well, I've been watching you for a while and you've never reminded me of one of the APES (they're not monkeys, lol) in this franchise. I can also definitely see why that'd make you not want to watch, geez so rude. 😬 It is a really good trilogy though so I'm excited to watch! I just read that they're working on a new trilogy 300 years after these take place....can't wait for it. ❤

The city that the infected pilot was going to was New York City, a reference to the first Planet of the Apes movie’s location

There was supposed to be a 4th movie coming out. But don't get too excited because remember. The Planet Of The Apes franchise including the failed 2001 remake are now all own by Disney.

I'd be insulted too. the person might not have consciously meant it as an insult, but Black people have been regarded as subhuman soooo, not funny. ANYway.... this movie is great. Glad you're reacting to this series. Looking forward to more.
