I had people tell me that I needed to knock $1,500 off of a sorrel mare that I was selling simply because she was sorrel. They also didn't like the fact that she was 15.3 hands. All of that information was in the ad before they ever called me. This video is so accurate!

I always do to ask about aids (bits, spurs, crops, etc), preferred feed, stall/pasture schedule, his current riding schedule, etc. nothing wrong with asking!
@@DrakonEmpire those are all valid questions very worth asking. but people don’t ask those, they just say “tell me more” without telling you what they want you to tell them lol. it’s strange

Do people really not read the adds carefully? When I was looking for my first horse I read and re-read all the adds of the horses I was considering until I had them basically memorized. I was really excited

Lol! I read and reread the ads of all of the beautiful horses I will never own.
As someone who has had to unfortunately sell a horse before, I can confirm that yes! So many people do not thoroughly and carefully read the ads before contacting the seller. I learned very quickly that I needed to show as much as I could through video because the vast majority of the time they wouldn’t read the ad. Half of the people that called me even with showing things in video form, in short clips, still had not watched enough of the video footage to have their questions answered.
You would not believe the number of people that inquired about the level of training that my horse had, when it was specifically stated in my ad. Or, they would ask about whether or not the horse would be suitable for their child’s first horse when it was specifically stated that this was a very high spirited mare and would not be suitable for a beginning rider.
I am in the market right now and I fell in love with this red roan gelding that is 16.3 hand for 2000 dollars he is utd just got hooves teeth and no vices.

@@laurenbrown5658 oh I definitely do! I cry pretty much everytime! I try to only keep each horse for a month, however depending on situation ofc that can change. But I get super attracted super quickly and usually cry for a couple days🤍

Oh definitely buying a horse takes MONTHS yes it is extremely stressful it took me a full year to find my heart horse I start with her June 1❤️

Thanks for introducing us to Britta. I just subscribed to her channel. It seems relatively new, but her editing is outstanding and I love what I’ve seen so far of her mustang journey. I’ve learned a lot this past year about mustangs thanks to your channel and some others that I discovered thru watching your content with Zurreal. It’s wonderful to see responsible, caring people doing right by these horses.

Tip: some people sell their filly’s/colts for sometimes less you get a better deal sometimes for 2,000 or more or even less since their foals! That’s what my parents did with most of my horses!🤟🏻🤟🏻
That's true. Mostly young and green horses are much cheaper than already ridden ones. I bought both of my ponies at a pretty young age and I got them for a very good price. One of them even is a purebred Welsh A and was registered in the foalbook, when he was still with his dutch breeder. Now he lives in Germany and has all the time he needs to grow up, even though he's already 3 years old.

Omgosh, I can relate! I just put an arabian gelding up for sell, and either people aren't really interested, and just wanting to 'try out for when they are serious' or they don't accept the conditions 😂 I'm even offering more training if his new owners pay for it!!! 😣😂
I can sympathize with what you’re going through. I lost track of how many people came to try my mare, and showed up with a small vehicle and no trailer, and they didn’t have cash in hand but told me that they wanted to try the mare first and then if they liked her then they would go to the bank and go get the cash and get somebody to bring a trailer out to come get her. Spoiler, no one who ever did not bring cash and came in a little car ever came back to buy the mare.
The person who finally bought my horse, came with cash in hand, and brought a trailer with them when they came to try her.
@@OzarkRose When I bought my first pony we had a call with the previous owners, because the ad only had the most basic information (breed, size, age and gender) in it. So we had a pretty long call and agreed on taking him right with us, when we come see him. Said and done. With my second pony it was a little different because he was not that far away from us. So we went there, had a look at him, engaged with him (he was still a yearling, so nothing to try out really) and then went home again. We had a pretty long talk about if he was going to be ours or not, slept over it and when we decided yes, we called his owners and told them, that we would like to buy him. They offered us to bring him to his new home, since we didn't had a trailer at that time and they did. The day they brought him everything was ready for him and there was only the money and passport exchange left. Sometimes I wish that they could see how much he developed over the last two years and what a nice little pony he ist today.
The prices tho! Ummm I was looking at a 6yo thoroughbred mare for 14k until I found out she had many big “superficial” scars and an underrun heel. Yeah that’s a no. 14k for a never shown, and barely sound 6yo mare.
The trouble is, is that most of the time when you’re dealing with somebody that is listing a horse at a specific price, they are expecting to sell that horse at many thousands of dollars less than the asking. For example, I was told to price a horse that I had at $4000, and when the horse eventually sold, it sold for 2500. So just because the seller has the animal priced at 14,000 does not necessarily mean that that is the price that horse will sell for.
Most people when they price a horse to sell, price it with the expectation that there’s going to be some haggling that will occur.
Also, don’t be surprised if down the line the specific horse that you stated had all of those problems does not end up with its price significantly reduced because if it has all of those problems, they will not hardly manage to get the horse sold unless it’s being sold potentially as a broodmare, and even then, they won’t sell her for 14,000 as a broodmare.
You would be surprised at the number of people that I have known that have bought a barely sound mare because of the fact that she was really nicely bred, because they intended to use her as a breeding animal.

I try and start that rp and EVERYONE that used to join was so impatient. And they were ALLLLLL attention seekers and impatient people. Like, i’d state in the add: *Needs humans only!* and what do ya know? Everyone that joins is like: CAN I JOIN AND BE A HORSEEEE??????? AND THEN THE PEOPLE THAT JOINED THE RP BEFORE HAND WOULD SAY YES 😭. And one time i got so stressed i abadoned the role. I just wanted to have fun :(
But luckily, when i switched servers to chocolate cupcake, everyone was so nice the first time i roleplayed there c:

Oh someone I know who helps out on a freinds property, looked at my boy and asked if he was for sale. Told her was not for a child and anyway he is not for sale.
But then informed me that her 6 year old daughter broke in her own pony!! And she would have no problem riding my Arabian. It's fair dunkum, needless to say she didn't work for long at my freinds property.

"I just saw your ad on Facebook" yet... FB does not allow the sale of animals on it's marketplace.... but yes selling a horse is exactly like this. No one READS the info and they ask the same questions they barter the price before meeting the horse, they expect other gear to be thrown in, and horse delivered for no extra,
Oh, trust me even though they don’t allow the sales of horses or other live animals on Facebook, it still happens. Usually in the form of a “halter”.
For example here is a example of the type of ad you would see on Facebook:
“For sale:
13.2 hand halter, in the color brown. Halter does not have a whole lot of training, and is not suitable for a young child to handle.
Halter is two years old. Pre-owned by two different owners. Halter sells as is.
P.m. for more information on halter. Alternatively call or text (phone number here)

I love this video!! Also I have a question and I thought that the RUclips comment section would be a good place to ask. So a little background information I am a 12 year old crazy horse girl I have been riding for 8 years this year and am in the market for my first horse. I fell in love with this horse but my parents and I are a little skeptic on this horses temperment, this horses temperment is a 5 out of 10. So my question is what would be a good temperment for a 12 year old intermediate rider?
P.S Please be honest I really need help.
I know I'm close to 7 months late, though I thought I would put this here in case you still needed it, or if anyone else was honest. For your first horse, I'd say you'd want to find a horse with a temperament of 0-3, just so you can gain confidence with your own horse and learn things without having to deal with anything your horse might do.

i might be buying 2 horses (witch would be my first horses) likes 2 years max max probably middle of next year or early next year does any does anyone have tips (also love your vids ) ok so I'm probably going to be moving next summer and sense we are planning to build a barn we might get get a horse around fall, winter or early spring
double check, triple check, and quadruple check EVERYTHING. vet bills, ancestors, etc. Also dont keep it all online. Make sure you have a chance to groom the horse, pet it, watch someone else ride it, and ride it yourself. Come see it on different days separate from eachother so you know its personality. And, if it seems shady, dont do it!
Yes don't believe everything on the ad, especially when it comes to age. And if it's all tacked up and ready when you get there be a bit suspicious. My mum and I turned up a bit early to see a cob that was supposed to be 'safe' and saw two people struggling to get a saddle on it!
