Not gonna lie, I was searching for this yesterday 😂 I’m trying to get into Ophthalmology this year and really needed some perspective about it. And also great work on these 73Qs. Really loved the whole series.❤
Thank you for this series!! It’s really provided me (and I’m sure so many others) with unique, raw perspectives on medical specialties that are tough to find elsewhere. Can’t wait to revisit these videos when I start the match process next year! Best of luck to you, Dr. ND!!!!
This turned out way better than my idea of answering each question as a different character. Would have been a bit much. Well done and thanks for visiting Oregon!
I'm a first year ophthalmology resident and this was the hardest year of my life taking primary call! Your videos give me hope for a brighter future. I can't wait to be a second year in less than 3 months. I love you Dr. GF!
If you run out of specialties, check out emerging disease. Lot of room for jokes there. I had an instructor from this specialty and he had the best stories.
22:05 I have homonymous hemianopia. I’m in my 20s. If I need to go somewhere, I have to have someone drive me there since I can’t drive. It’s tough because I don’t have the independence. But I have accepted it and adapted to it.
Omg the legend himself has finally arrived! Thank you for inspiring all of us medical students and residents with your funny sketches DR Glaucomaflecken 😊
I can’t believe you got Glaucomflecken!!! What a crowning achievement in your 73 Questions Series. I’ll miss them. Thank you so much Andy! Best of luck in your residency 🙏🏾
Dr. G's answer to "If you could change one thing about the medical field right now, what would it be?" is probably the best answer to this question ever. Affordable and accessible care is the most important thing we need right now and my generation is working on changing that. Like he said, it's easy to keep your head and and just simply do your job, but more healthcare workers are speaking up about it in hopes for change. /thread.
As a current medical scribe myself, it’s so nice to hear how much he appreciates his. Jonathan is also so iconic lmao. Also, just story is just so inspiring. What an amazing end to such an awesome series!
Your answer about how patients have high expectations is so spot on and I feel is relevant to all specialties in medicine. I’m an emergency physician and patient expectations just over the past 5 years have been so insane man. Everyone wants fixed now, wants answers now, and will be livid if you do not get them what they want.
Its a consequence of the abundance of availability. Everything is at everyones fingertips. All of our patience is reduced, so our patients become.... less.. patient. Watch that asian dudes standup on this. "Prime now. Never leave your house. One pen bleghhhhh want it now with some napkins in another box fly it across and ship now!!" Guess what - we all did it to ourselves buddy.
I've been waiting for this collab!! 😍 Thanks Andy and Dr. Glaucomflecken for this 73 questions! One of the most honest, down to earth interviews ever. Love the special appearance by Tabitha and I would simply pass away if I had to do IM and rounds 😂
Wow! I just discovered your series! . I’m an 80 year old woman. My husband has lots of health issues. About 4 years ago he had a very bad stomach bleed, almost lost him. The resident at that time kept me informed about his condition and tests. I remember him calling me at four in the morning to come down as he was in critical condition. The doctors eventually found the bleed and closed it. I the resident was at the end of his rotation. I thought he’d be great as an internist with his good bedside manner but turned out he was going into opthamology! Many of your videos remind me of some of the doctors we encountered during his many hospital stays( particularly the “hospitalist” one. I know you don’t particularly think out healthcare system is good, but from what we experienced as seniors couldn’t have been better.! Thanks so much for your funny videos and didn’t realize you yourself was acting in them.❤️❤️❤️
What a thoughtful, calm, likeable person Will is! I already suspected that from his videos as dr. glaucomflecken, but this definitely confirms it. Greetings from a CRNA from Zurich, Switzerland!
Cataract surgery is wonderful. I struggled with astigmatism all my life but cataract surgery really helped. Wonderful to just wear reading glasses for closeup work and sunglasses for driving. This 80 year old woman cheers opthamalogists. Only thing I have now is dry eyes.
Loved this series. Perfect end cap. I would've loved seeing more youtube personalities, like Doctor Mike and Dr. K. Best wishes to you in residency and your future endeavors.
What a stellar interview. Dr. Flanary’s responses to the last few questions were so personal and inspiring 🥲 Thank you for this Andy and I wish you all the best on your future endeavors!
I love his answer about post exam euphoria. When I was in veterinary school after every exam I would get a breakfast burrito and walk around campus and it was great. I am now a boarded veterinary anesthesiologist 😊
Dr Flannery....Many thanks. When I was on a submarine, I thought I had a perfed globe on one of the sailors.....I appreciated the opth when we pulled in and ran him to the hospital after 0100....
An excellent close to the series, thank you so much Andy for taking us through these different journeys with these providers and showing us a new way of story-telling, and uplifting these real humans behind their titles!
As a rare disease patient with a HUUUUUGE history of ON causing ptosis of my left eye, I adore you and I’m so glad I stumbled across your channel when looking at neuro content lol! I had two blephs performed on my left eye, and also having both of my eyes scraped of webs that developed from viral pink eye due to immunodeficiency, so BLESS YOU. The eyes are definitely fascinating! Would love to know your perspective on neuro-opthos lol, I feel like they’re their own special breed!
Love this guy. I have a request for your channel and apologize if you’ve already done this. Could you include some more doctor vs nurse interactions and Doc vs other people who work in the hospital such as clerical staff, nutrition and kitchen.
I totally resonate with Dr G's reason for choosing ophthalmology! My attraction towards the operating room but not willing to stand for hours doing those surgeries! and I must say I love ophthalmology! and love Dr Glaucomflecken! and the need to see all consultations in the clinic and doing everything to not have to go to the hospital wards! I swear every time I go to the wards on my own I get lost at least once lol. always have to have an intern or junior with me to show me the way out haha
Favorite part of medical school was ALWAYS after exams. Those were some wildest, drink the night away on the party bus, puke your guts out from 2am bar BBQ chicken, fall asleep in the sunrise shower, days that we experienced in our lives.
Ha! This guy is great. Was a hemodialysis nurse for years. Love nephrology and cardiology turf wars. Worked in big medical centers. These stereotypess are spot on
I got Visian ICL to correct severe shortsightedness in Canada at a cataract clinic. They used optical ultrasound to get the math right. Life changing surgery.
The way my jaw dropped when I read the title- Thank you so much Andy for everything you've done. All the videos in this series will continue to be used by future premeds (which I am) and medical students alike. As I hopefully continue my path to applying/getting into medical school myself, I know I will be bingeing ALL your videos haha. Congrats on matching btw ❤
I'm only a med-tech, but the first facility I worked at was an ALF w/ 40-45 residents and whether a caregiver or a med-tech each shift the head nurse expected us to give a full shift report to the on-coming shift including "walking rounds" on every single resident 😂😂 a given shift report for the med-techs could easily take over an hour just on the narcotic counts and med report, change of conditions, etc
Hi, Can you do a video about ocular migraine and how it differs from a normal migraine which feels like someone is twisting a knife in your eye, please?
Signing off from the 73Q series. Mamba out ✌️🫡🎤
Incredible work. To be enjoyed for years to come 🫡🫡
No better way to sign off than with the great Dr. Flanary aka Glaucomflecken!
Dr. G cmon legendary
Not gonna lie, I was searching for this yesterday 😂

Eye ball boss 😊
If you run out of specialties, check out emerging disease. Lot of room for jokes there. I had an instructor from this specialty and he had the best stories.

Find a better medical series, and a better ending to a medical series on RUclips. I’ll wait. 10/10 Andy. You are GOATed

I’m recently losing my sight..normal pressure glaucoma and ARMD and cataracts. My ophthalmologist has saved me. He’s my hero.
Worlds are colliding this is wild haha! I really thought for the last interview NDMD was going to answer the 73 questions. Amazing work!
What a finale for the series!
Been waiting years for this one!!!

It’s not helping that healthcare is SO expensive per visit.
Thank you for taking the time to devote to this series! You couldnt have ended with a better guest! Great video!
I've been waiting for this collab!! 😍 Thanks Andy and Dr. Glaucomflecken for this 73 questions! One of the most honest, down to earth interviews ever. Love the special appearance by Tabitha and I would simply pass away if I had to do IM and rounds 😂
Thank you Dr G. for being so open and honest. Your patients are lucky to have such a smart and caring physician.
I’m going to miss these 73Q series but I know how busy your schedule is. Also congratulations on your Match Andy. Will always support your channel! 😊

Great video Andy! Thanks for asking good questions. As a pre-medical student, this series is a blessing!

So happy you asked about Jonathon. We needed to know
53:35 man that made me choke up. What a great guy
Finally! Thanks for having one of us ophthalmologists on this series!! and of course, our favorite, Dr. Glaucomflecken.
What a stellar interview. Dr. Flanary’s responses to the last few questions were so personal and inspiring 🥲 Thank you for this Andy and I wish you all the best on your future endeavors!

The best finale! Thanks for your commitment to the series ❤
omg 1h of unscripted dr. G, a dream come true!! ❤ thank you 🎉🙏
did Jonathan do this for him??
I just started a job at an ophthalmologist who specializes in retinas. It’s stuck a wild specialty for sure. And so impactful.
Dr Flannery....Many thanks. When I was on a submarine, I thought I had a perfed globe on one of the sailors.....I appreciated the opth when we pulled in and ran him to the hospital after 0100....
Sit down and get comfy! Also, now I understand your resiliency. You survived living in Lubbock.
My favourite!! Just the motivation (and a break)I needed in the ocean of PG preparation!! (I am from India)
If I would’ve gone to medical school, I definitely would’ve chosen ophthalmology! Great interview!
An excellent finale series episode! 🏆 👁️ 👁️
i am soooo excited, thank you for for doing 73 questions with him! been waiting for the opthomologist video 🤩🤩🤩

Thank you so much for this video. America does not have nearly enough doctors and people need to be aware of the field. Such a good resource.
What? I thought there'd be no more 73 questions! Looking forward to this. Thanks, Andy.

Yes!!! I was looking through the 73Q and was sad there would be no Ophtho video because the series is finishing… but COME ON!!!
73 questions will be missed dr...all of the physicians were an inspiration and blessing for the world ND,MD
thanks for all the work, have you been thinking about passing the baton to someone so this could be continued?
Would love to but no one in particular at the moment in mind
