When I was a lab technician, Dr Fisher was the only attending who will help us to stain slides and help us read when we’re swamped. He was the only one who will clean up the microscope after reading slides and teach students to do so and respect our work. We miss and love him so much! We hope he is enjoying his retirement!
Dr. Fisher tried to learn everyone's name in our class of 200 medical students, same as he did every year. What an amazing teacher of medicine.
I love this 😍😍😍
Such a great teacher 🥺🥰
When is 73 questions coming with Dr Glaucomflecken
That would a nice one for sure he cracks me a lot
Oh i want this badly
THIS. But make sure to ask the non-fake account!
YESSS
Is a consensus we all want this🤝
Really enjoyed listening to him. His demeanor commands so much authority, and yet he is so respectful in his answers. I guess that's the confidence of a doctor with nearly 45 years of experience.
He was one of my favorite interviewees yet. I really loved the way he tells stories and his easy, relaxed, confident nature that only comes with time and experience and just can't be faked.
50 years at this point. Why would you not include residency
You can tell he is an old school doctor, the best of their kind. Reminds me of my pediatrician who practiced late into his 70s. Must protect him!! hahah
As a graduate of MCG in 1990, I remember Dr. Fischer very well. He was an exceptional mentor & clinician. So grateful for him in inspiring me to go into internal medicine. Thank you for interviewing him.
this man is adorable please protect him at all costs
seeing the comments about the positive impact he left on students is awesome...
"what changed your mind from pediatrics....? "
... "Parents!!" its ok u can say it.
watching him desperately try to find a diplomatic response is a mood.
This doctor is very personable. You can tell he has enormous compassion, wisdom and integrity. I really enjoyed hearing him all the way till the end. Would love to hear back from this doctor in another video!
This is one of my favorites. He took his time and answered thoroughly. His generation is not in a hurry, and I love it!
Is it just me? I LIKE this man. His vast experience, poise and composure is amazing. He is comfortable talking about his beliefs. I could listen to him talk all day everyday.
Always grateful for a doctor who's willing to slow down his work flow to engage students and can tell that he is passionate about teaching!! His students are lucky to have him :)
Dr. Fischer is the best! I graduated from Medical College of Georgia in 2018 and he was one of the best lecturers ever. Also he performed some pretty awesome Irish folk songs at a bar in augusta!
John’s first year at MCG, now AUMC, was when I was a freshman medical student in 1977. We adored him, a tremendous lecturer and educator. I had the privilege and pleasure of working with him over the years as an intern, resident, fellow faculty member then ending up doing my ID fellowship from ‘86 till ‘88. I was fortunate to work with a number of great ID clinicians, MaryJo Carter, Peter Rissing, Bill Chew, Brian Cato, Malkanthie DeSilva and Cheryl Newman. I have never regretted my choice of speciality. The flea’s flea as we were known. I love this.
So many great memories
I can't stop smiling throughout the whole interview.
is it hard? compared to other specialities
@@smithereensloccomotives678 I rotated for two weeks during medical school with an ID physician, and I felt it was a little harder than general medicine. Most of your problems are ones other doctors couldn’t figure out. But they also had more time to investigate each patient which kinda balances it out.
So glad I stumbled on this. I had Dr. Fisher as my ID attending as a senior medical student in 1984. He was a great teacher. Glad to know he's doing well and still sharing his wisdom with students.
Dr. Fisher is the GOAT. That is all.
I love our elders, they’re so sweet 🥲💖
An Infectious disease doctor and Pulmonologist saved my life. Thank you doctors. BTW gap year isn't a term a lovely gentleman of his age would use. I was definitely a puzzle and a mystery. The ID would come to my hospital room, stare at me with his head shaking and ask if I knew what made me so sick, I did not. I had a "rare and unusual fungal blood infection" according to my doctor. It took a broncoscopi and 10 days of cultering it while trying to keep me alive long enough for the answer.
7:40 "What is wrong with Mr Jones? ".... My mind screamed DOC SCHMIDT!!!!!!
I just love this man..when he said he loves doing this because This is God’s work. That touched me.. I teared up a little
This physician is adorable and so smart. Impressive.
A proper old school Doctor, commands respect. We should appreciate doctors like these as we have so much to learn from them.
One of my favorite interviews 🤍 so humbling, so relaxed, so pure, so real, and so motivating
Thank you Andy
I love that he’s not shy about talking about what specialities are lucrative that’s incredibly interesting to me
“You might not live as long anyway” 😂
He’s awesome ♥️
A blessed 🙌 man. He is a hero for all the work and progress he has achieved during the HIV battle. A joy to listen to and such an inspiration. You love ❤ people. We love you too.
Could you do a 73 questions with a hematology/oncology doctor?
Yes!!! I agree! I have recently been receiving care from one for the blood disorder iron deficiency anemia and that would be a great video
Yes that would be great!
Dr. Fisher!! My favorite guy 🥺
Dr. Fisher is a remarkable human being! He is an inspiration for so many of us in medicine! I am grateful I was able to learn from him in medical school.
I’m a second year IM resident with a huge love for all things ID. This was a fantastic video. Thank you! Was really excited about the disseminated strongy case as I just came across a similar case on the ID service a few months ago! It’s a fascinating, but devastating disease.
Wow, what an amazing and humble teacher. Thanks for the awesome content!
Loved this Interview so much! Andy you are doing a great job my friend ! All the best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I loved every minute of this interview!!!
This, by far, is my most favorite interview among others. I wish I could meet him in person. Thank you, Andy!
Absolutely fabulous!!! Definitely my favorite interview so far.
Dr Fischer, you are amazing! We all really appreciate what you have taught us many years after graduation.
Wow! These are the kinds of people I’d love to have coffee with. All these years of experience, just beautiful!
What a physician, super inspirational!
Such a great doctor , God bless him more and more
I dare say some of the psychiatrists I've seen could really learn from the history-taking and analytical skills of a good infectious disease doctor like this gentleman.
This man has such a calm and humble demeanor. He takes his time answering questions and doesn't needlessly fill silences. So much wisdom and confidence. Please be my surrogate grandfather.
Dr. Fisher is a wonderful person.
Amazing interview. What a humble man!
Can’t wait until you do 73 questions with hem/onc
This whole comment section is really sweet, sounds like he was a great dr when he was practising.
Loved every minute of this interview 💚
This is beautiful
I just love that age !
I wish all people we had to deal with are that peaceful ♥️
So far my favorite interview! Love him! Lol
Great interview, thanks for filming this.
Top class gentleman. Thank you for INTEGRITY. God put it all together with your faith. Blessed.
Great interview! Brilliant doctor!! I just wish you would have talked about resistant antibiotics (E Coli). His wealth of knowledge would have been so beneficial to us.
He seems like a lovely doctor ... And of course sharp as nails.
So coooool🤩 tysm for this! Idk if there’s an amount I wouldn’t pay to hang out with this guy & ask him questions all day🥹
What a wonderful human! Beautiful soul:) x
OMG LOVE THIS SERIES!!
Finally! Great interview!
This was an excellent interview!!
Awesome! So much experience.
Wisdom speaks... listen. Another great interview!
'when I turned 70 in 2013' WHAAAAAT! and he's still 'semi-working' in 2021 at the age of 78, I AM SHOOKTH
He must truly love his job! Something I aspire too be like!
Love your videos!!!. Hope you can do it one with an endocrinologist ❤
Refreshing and informative interview...
Real life doctor House is a total darling
I'd love a video of him walking us through a case. He seems like a wonderful physician and professor to learn from.
Absolute legend!
Amazing conversation
I absolutely love this
Great interview!
Amazing! Much respect!
Thank you for the inspiration, John Fisher
I love this video. He's not afraid to just speak and about his religious motivations too nonetheless. Nowadays, you can't even be authentic for the fear someone will get offended.
True.. Very True
💯❤
I would just die to see one of these with a speech language pathologist!!!!! Also PT, OT, and other non physician healthcare roles!!
Dr. Fischer seems like many of the physicians I work with. I would have liked to have known some additional questions from an ID doc tho. What would have been a dream case that he would have liked to have seen that he may not have had the opportunity to work on? Would he liked to have travelled to different countries to see a wider variety of infectious diseases? What was the worst permanent side effects he saw from an ID? What was the fastest recovery from a ID that he witnessed? what does he think about the therapeutics we have nowadays? Were there any surprises in medical technology - especially ID since the beginning of his career.
yeah, all excellent questions I would have loved to hear answers to
Love this guy!
Why was one of the questions not “where did you get that amazing sweater?”
Love this!!
73 Q with Endocrinologist please 🙏😍
That disseminated strongyloidiasis story blew my mind. Wow!
Did the Irish traveller survive ?
Sidenote: When you are interviewing someone remeber to be curious throughout, otherwise several questions remain dangling through.
This is awesome, engaging.
Hey nice videos. You should do one with a cardiologist
Aw, he's adorable. Could you do a psychiatrist next?
yes we need a psychiatrist. Me being a psych major i gotta know if that’s where I wanna end up or be a psychologist
pretty sure he did a psychiatry resident a few weeks ago
Man I the only one who thought this was Dr. Fauci without his glasses from the thumb nail?? lol
Wow semi-retired and working about 60 hours a week is crazy
I guess it does not feel like work if you love what you are doing like Dr. Fisher does. If I could be as happy as he is at his age with his career choice and the experiences that he has had, that would be a true blessing.
I wish I could do this with all my preceptors! So cool!
please do one with a RHEUMATOLOGIST
This is a cool speciality, it's all sciencey and investigative. Had I known medicine could be that way I probably would have gone into it.
Love this
Please do 73 questions with a hematologist!!!
could you do some other like non-MD ones in the healthcare field. Like Hospital Management or Psychologist. I think it would be interesting just tweak a few questions
Why does he look like an older version of doc Schmidt lol
Literally!! Before I clicked I thought this might be his dad because he said his dad was a doctor. They even have similar mannerisms
He even asked "what was wrong with mr Jones?" 😂 @7:40
He is the sweetest ((":
Very interesting interview.
Would love to see an episode with a psychiatrist or physiatrist. Keep up the great work!
He seem so kind
Could you please do a 73 questions with a psychiatrist? 🙏🏽
Wow he takes great care of himself
Could you do 73 q's with an oncologist? Thank you I love your videos!
Aye Im a current student at VCU!
I am stealing that go to question :D
Is anyone else on these "Ask 73 Questions" just to enjoy what good humanity can do?
