I would pre fill the filter better on the engine. My 2000 1200s has almost 102,000 miles on it and I also use vr1 but sae 60 because I live in Florida 🍊🍊
You can prefill the filter, and the manual has it listed as a step, but seeing as our oiling system is such low pressure, unless you were to completely drain your system of all oil, residual oil in the lines/engine will fill the filter up very quickly. Also, as an aside, when you disassemble your motor and reassemble, you run the engine just about completely dry the first time to get oil flowing back through all the lines as part of the reassembly process. Since the engine is running at such low rpms and you are letting it idle until warm up every ride, it should not make a large impact on your engine as long as you don't rev your engine when you start it and let it warm up for a couple of minutes like normal. This was something my Buell mechanic and I talked about and he agreed.
hey bro its me again, did you know how to fix the TPS, when I turn on my motorciclye a red light its on, and did you know what this mean, or what damage can be affect the motorcicle if a run without fixed
omar flores are you referring to the red light at the bottom right of your dash? The low oil pressure light is red on my dash in that location. It should be on prior to starting your bike. After your bike is running, it should turn off within seconds. After an oil change, sometimes it can take a few more seconds for the pressure to build up in the line on the first startup. If you haven’t done so, please check your oil level and make sure you have at least 2.5 quarts of oil in the oil tank. If that light is still on, either your oil level is so low that you are not getting any pressure at the oil pump (sensor is located under the pump near the oil filter) or there may be something clogging your oil line near the sensor. I’ve had a little silicone block the oil bypass hole at the pump and cause the sensor to show low pressure when in fact it was fine. As for TPS reset, depending on the year of your bike it is done differently. On 08’ and up XB’s, it is done without having to use any external program. On bikes older than 2008 you can use ECMDroid to do a tps reset. There are tutorials on doing that online as well.
SCARGARDENS you can get an oil change gasket/o-ring kit from www.motoenthusiasts.com. eBay is another resource you can use and as a last resort you can go to Harley (expensive).
I would think removing the starter and replacing the gasket and making sure everything is torqued correctly would be the course of action. Are you absolutely sure it is at the starter gasket and not oil coming off your rocker boxes or base gasket pooling up near the starter?
Hey.. thanks for the video .. you can help me in something, I be fixing a Buell XB12XT 2009 and i wan to know if the fuel pump of NEW FUEL PUMP FOR SERIES XB9 XB12 2008-2009 P0130.5AA works in my XB12XT 2009
If it is a fuel pump for a 2008+ buell it should be a direct fit. However, newer fuel pump assemblies can use older pumps as well... the main difference physically is the strainer is different on older pumps. If you have any direct questions, you can contact Jacob at MotoEnthusiasts.com and he can help you out. He is my mechanic buddy.
Ok thanks ... i was cleaning the bike because it had been stopped for 3 years and i discovered that the pump is completely covered with dirt and it did not work at all and I need the base with all the parts ....
Andrew David Suárez Zamora Jacob also does fuel pump assembly rebuilds specifically dealing with your issue. Contact him and he will set you in the right direction... will cost much less than buying a brand new assembly.
How long after you ride do you check the oil level? After a ride to full operating temp, shut off then check? Or wait a few mins? My oil always seems to be very low. Well below the add line
You can idle the bike for a few minutes or go for a short ride to get the oil circulating through the engine fully. And check the oil right after you shut the engine off with the bike on the kickstand.
It’s a dry sump so go a little run, we call it operating temperature….. put a few miles in 4/5………pull over and check straight after shut off, vtwin Aprillias are exact same, dry sump procedure!
ok bro I just found it thanks, another question after I change the spark plugs appears a red spot on my board apparently it is the TPS you know how to fix it?
omar flores depends on the year of your bike. Pre 2008 Xb's have a different tps reset procedure than 2008+ Xb's. You can find step by step guides using google.
omar flores with your bike, you should use either a USB connector to the diagnostic port or Bluetooth adapter on the diagnostic port and a program like ECMSpy (paid) or ECMDroid(free android app) to reset the tps. I use ECMDroid with an android tablet to check diagnostics on my bike. With the 2008+ Xb's you do the tps reset without any apps.
