That badass exhaust note, leave it to GM to really tune their exhausts! Legendary car too, it beat a Lambo Countach and some 80's Ferrari's back in its day, a 4.9 0-60 time then was unheard of, still impressive by todays standards and that was over 30+ years ago, I will have one someday...
I was wondering why the hell I heard gears being shifted...and no turbo whine....dumb video game. That said, great graphics since I didn't realize it was a game for several seconds.
Paynekillah Had the video description been accurate, I wouldn't have bothered clicking. I found it a bit hard to believe a GNX would have ever made it to the TG test track.
Definitely did not sound like a GNX, or Grand National thats for sure. There would have been a lot more white smoke off those rear tires, you cannot duplicate a turbo 3.8 . In a class by itself.
This game almost had the sound of the car just right. The only thing these games never get right about the turbo Buick’s in general is the way they shift. They always sound like its a manual transmission.
The GNX was a commemorative edition farmed out to Mclaren for upgrades: turbo, intercooler, wheels, tires, suspension, interior, gauges, transmission recalibration. They made 547 with 546 going to customers and 1 for the GM's museum. The demure Buick Regals of the same year could be ordered with a Grand National engine and they were used by the FBI.
Clicked on the video thinking, I never saw TG do any episodes on the GNX? lol. The game's engine sounds like the generic car sounds from BeamNG which is about the same as the 90s NFS games.
I think it's something like 300bhp/420lbf, but yes, GM did significantly underrate the '87 GNX for obvious reasons (ie because they didn't want it competing with the Corvette).
Lol the whole time I was watching this I was like.. This looks like a video game (the physics of the car, the reflections, the way it goes around corners, the background), and then read the comments haha..
TopGearSpeed Video games are fine but misleading titles are absolute rubbish. Why have a dishonest post when you would otherwise feel good about telling the truth? Take care.
not bad for a 25 year old box that was built for the 1/4 mile. i just feel really bad for whoever owns that GNX! one day i will be one of the lucky 547
this is def a video game I love the fact that people thought this shit was real. just goes to show you far video games have come manits real crazy I rember I thought cruising usa looked good lol
Tricked the hell out of me the 1st few seconds lmao.

Paynekillah you not realize that was a video game?
Do you have myopia?

Got me too
I was listening for that funky sound too.
Holy shit, watched almost the whole video before I realized it was a damn game.

Homeboy has mad skills. 👍🏾.

I agree I have a 1987 Turbo T.. But the one thing I will say is this sound is a lot closer then gran turismo got the sound!
Great car! Good luck!
Name of game?
@@MR_GAMER_911Looks a lot like Gran Turismo. Can't tell which game specifically though
It was somewhat realistic, but without the turbo whine it is lacking big time with the sound.
WTF!! I didn't realize it was a game until I read your comment lol!
i realized this was a game once the car made those dramatic turns, a real gnx cant make those turns even with after market suspension
Those power figures are false btw. This car makes 300 horsepower and like 450 lb ft of torque
I think it's something like 300bhp/420lbf, but yes, GM did significantly underrate the '87 GNX for obvious reasons (ie because they didn't want it competing with the Corvette).
was this car tuned on ze nordschilfe ?
Lol the whole time I was watching this I was like.. This looks like a video game (the physics of the car, the reflections, the way it goes around corners, the background), and then read the comments haha..
Those graphics are insane. The sound of the Buick is ridiculous
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
The Stig would never take a corner like that. @1:32.
Great driving
0:17 did not expect that entering speed.
Stig Should be listening Eazy-E track while driving this beast

The fact the some people think this isn't a computer simulation is LOL
Pretty good graphics
not bad for a 25 year old box that was built for the 1/4 mile. i just feel really bad for whoever owns that GNX! one day i will be one of the lucky 547
So much better without the America haters
come check out my 86 grand national walk around and my other cars and toys that I have owned and played with
Sounds nothing like a Turbo Buick. I have an 86 Grand National, people ask me how come it is not loud like other muscle cars.
this is def a video game I love the fact that people thought this shit was real. just goes to show you far video games have come manits real crazy I rember I thought cruising usa looked good lol
That would be sweet!
ze nordschlife was built for this car in mind
Some people don't realize that this is from a video game.
what I understand, buick was to make this for the secret service agents... ???
yeah but a really accurate one
I've been fooled
All of that tech in graphics and they still can’t get the correct sound for the Buick turbo V6.
this is a video game clip not a real GNX :"D
looks good but the sound gave it away..
wtf! i thought this was a real car. look good thoe
So this is a video game?
haha me too i was trying to figure out why it sounded so weird
I realized it was not real at 1:27 😂
Looked real until i heard the engine during the launch. Didn't sound like a nash engine. Good video though.
2015... look it up :)
Look like a video game
Took me 10 seconds to understand
Thought this was real for second
Lol 😆 who added the sound. This is not what they sound like. I'm on my 6th one right now.
