I really really love these videos where you go back and evaluate your previous predictions, and I hope you never stop doing them. I also think this was the perfect amount of elapsed time between the Oscars and your retrospective video, because there was just enough that I had forgotten about that was fun to remember.

I feel like folks don’t really see that Power of the Dog just wasn’t as loved. It was admired for its craft and direction but that’s not the same as saying it was loved. That’s definitely a factor that paved the way for CODA to win.
Its the Green book/Roma thing, sometimes the crowdpleaser always goes over the more quiet technical one, as the Rank choice voting of Best Picture promotes likability rather what was "the best"
This is just dumb. It got 12 nominations and won BAFTA Best Film for a reason. It was definitely loved by a big amount of voters. And that doesn’t mean people can’t love CODA at the same time. You can love more than one film.

With the cinematography nominations next year, if everything everywhere is able to hold on to the end of the year and squeeze into picture, it’s hard to believe that anyone watching that wouldn’t nominate it for cinematography.
For me the interesting thing is that you could not predict CODA, Drive My Car and Penelope Cruz many, many months after you had already seen them. And for CODA you had more or less good reasons, but for Drive My Car and Penelope Cruz was because Cole did not liked them, it is hard to put your personal opinion apart.

Lady Gaga was not a snub!!! I never had her in my top 5 because it was not a good performance at all!! Gaga tried what Chastain did which was be a phenomenal actress. She has a very long way to go to be on any of these women’s levels.
Gaga was nominated everywhere and won NYFCC. For her to have this amount of industry and critics support in only her second movie shows that she’s a force to be reckon with. Let’s not forget she was nominated for ASIB and was in the conversation to win that year.

Cause again, she is not on the level of any of her peers and I’m not saying she can never be a good actress, but she has a very long way to go. Cause I watched house of Gucci, and I’m sry but no one, including her, were good in that movie. Yes she was nominated everywhere else and she may have won one but, I think it’s a case of fandom not wanting to accept truth that this role was just not good. But again, it’s all subjective.

I am proud to have called Jessica Chastain winning the moment I saw the film even when Kristen Stewart was getting all the hype.
