Thanks, Marmalade. The scenery continues to be gorgeous. My hat is off to you for being able to walk so steadily across that log over the rushing stream! Think I would have to scoot over it…slowly…while sitting down! 😵‍💫

lol thanks yeah I’m not great with heights but that log was pretty wide and very stable. A little after that in the video it was so much so if you noticed I got up on top of that log then stopped filming haha. Had to be carefully over it

Thanks Valerie I appreciate it. It was an awesome trail… gorgeous but demanding which always makes it worth it and gives you the feeling you’ve earned it.

Thanks for the video. Felt for you clinbing in the heat even though not much of that part was shown, understandably. Loved seeing the Kern River & views of the peaks.

Yeah it was very difficult to film very much up that crazy hot steep climb. I realized while editing it that I didn’t film that much on the way up but was just trying to get it done at that point lol. Thanks as always for watching and the positivity

That's a tough climb up from Junction Meadow! Especially in the heat. Another great video Mike!

Thanks guys it was tough but mostly because it was in the heat of the afternoon and not much breeze… had to hike from shade spot to shade spot lol

Thanks for sharing your appetite pattern/issues - I have the same challenges on-trail - two shake-style foods that are working well for me is Greenbelly Mud Mix for breakfast (so far, I’ve only had the strawberry flavor and add a little instant coffee) and RecPak for dinner (I like the chocolate flavor). Both have very muted flavors, go down real easy, and have a good array of nutrition. During the day, I’ll go through two drink mixes (Gatorade Endurance and Cranksports e-Fuel). My solid food is usually mini nut/fig bars, mini beef sticks, assorted nuts, Fritos, and a few other items - some days I consume none of those items and other days, I’ll occasionally graze during longer stops. I usually bring a ProBar or two just as backup food.

Thanks for those suggestions I’ll check them out. I’m about to get on the John Muir Trail, so I won’t have enough time to buy and try them out until after. Probars are so dense I find them hard to get through but usually can force them down…. Thanks for watching!

You must be my twin! I never eat and it's so bad for me. I got sciatica and haven't hiked in 5 weeks. Finally start physical therapy. I'm so bummed. I wanted to do mountains. You rock marmalade. Happy hiking. good luck on JMT! I've done part of it. Beautiful but hard.

Awww thanks so much and yeah I’m always like this when I get on trail for any length of time. It’s so weird. Sorry to hear about your health issues but battle and get past it! Life always throws us those kinds of curve balls but you’ll power through it and be in those mountains before you know it. Thank you for the positivity and for watching!

I also have a hard time eating while backpacking, everything tastes so dry 😜 I like the Snickerdoodle Complete Cookies, they taste like a real cookie and don't have that weird aftertaste that the other flavors have. And ohmigoodness, you going across that log AND holding the camera, and then going across the other log twice to get the shot! My biomechanics expert sister says to just keep your eye on where you want to go and keep walking, but the rushing water is so distracting.

Oh those Pro Bars. Too dense for me. Gave up after 2.

I brought probars & bobo bars and they’re both so hard to get down I agree. Getting ready to get on the JMT and going to finish off the rest of my probars & bobo bars and mostly doing pop tarts. I know I can down those lol
