What a great hiking day! Cold start; Clear skies. Ran into the Codgers and Hazel by sheer lucky timing. Caught a special boat run into VVR, again great timing. And you showed us around VVR, i can see why you like it there. Looks like your birthday stay was good timing, too.

This trail segment is really gorgeous. I think what makes this set of videos so beautiful is that you're moving shorter distances and shooting more video, so we get to see more of the area, the close-ups, and you hiking through showing is the trail grade and distance scale. I've watched your videos for many years and these are the best graphically.

Another option for the cut down water bottle (dipping in small H2O sources). Grab a Caprisun juice pouch (the ones in the foil pouch) and cut the top off just above the straw hole. Use for the same dipping. It holds approx 9oz and folds up to a tiny little piece and weighs (.13oz).

❤😊, caught up! In 2014 the boat was not running that far up the lake because it was almost dry... I hiked down on bear ridge trail and out on the trail that followed the west side of the mostly dry lake. It is really neat that you got to hike south bound. Thank you again for taking us along on your journey.

❤🙏🥾👍😊, absolutely stunning. I was really depressed by the lack of LNT practices on this section of Trail in 2014 when I was on the PCT for over 4 months. It was the biggest deciding factor in my future hiking plans. For me, thru hiking the National Scenic Trails, is too much impact over too short of time for the health of the trails. I love to follow others adventures, but I just can't add my impact to the over use. I found I prefer to backpack in better season and with less crowded conditions. Being retired, I do not have to do the trails in one go. Thank you again for taking us along on your journey.

I'm behind, because of my own adventure and then, dealing with health issues of a family member, but I must say, the comment section gives a wealth of great information. You absolutely did the right thing for you and your friend. Body chemistry and hydration can really make a difference on any backpacking trip, but at elevation it's definitely critical. I am glad to see you got to do the JMT anyway. I am looking forward to your videos and catching up on your epic summer adventures. ❤🙏😊

One thing to remember if you have your food outside of the bear canister during the day you absolutely have to have your backpack within your control the entire time the food is not in the canister. Oh yes beacon jerky...Thank you for taking the time to create this video.

I was wondering where and when you’d cross paths with the codgers. I knew you were traveling the same basic path. What a nice surprise to see your old friends from last year. VVR is a great place to get off trail and get some chores done and load up on town food. Thanks for sharing your adventures in the sierras

Thank you for another informative video. You have your gear really dialed in. After years of trying to use UL Backpacks, I went to Osprey female specific backpacks and likely will not purchase another UL Backpack. They just don't work for my verticality challenged female body. I figure because my clothes are lighter and my quilt is shorter I carry less weight in those items and likely have near the same base weight. When my current Sawyer water filter is done, the Befree will likely replace it. Thank you again for showing us your gear, it really helps me reevaluate what I backpack with and why.

Love this...great camera placement, especially in shots where you walk by....I've done some backpa king in younger years.... you stopping to set camera, then going back to hike by, then retreive camera.......sheesh...takes energy I would need for trail...so thanks 😊
