Agree! Marriott and the whole band was so underrated. When this concert was recorded the Zeppelin adventure was over and Bonham gone. Same with Keith Moon. No one had such energy on stage as Marriott! Epic!
I saw Humble Pie live in Kansas City the night John Lennon was shot in 1980. What a bizarre night THAT was. Steve Marriott was extremely drunk and possibly coked up. The band only played 4 or 5 songs the whole set. Each song became a long and eventually boring jam. During all of this, Marriott tried to pick fights with audience members on at least three occasions. It was the most surreal, unusual, and sloppiest shit show of a live gig as I have ever seen. Steve was a rude and out of control fool at that point of his life.Walked out into the cool night when it was over and got into my friend's car, turned on the radio, and heard the Lennon news. I was instantly depressed and my friend, a massive Beatles fan, started bawling (rightfully so...). It was a Rock & Roll night I will never forget. Have been to thousands of concerts and club shows (still see lots of live music), but that night will always stand out...
@@tonyhendrix8075 my point was the combination of the two. Obviously Hendrix was a much better guitar player but didn't come close to the vocals of Marriott. I'd say Chris Squire from Yes above Jack. JPJ best organ? Come on now... Rick Wakeman / Keith Emerson easily right off the top of my head.

It had been nearly 40 years since I shot this show, and I hesitated to post it because of the poor video quality. It took over 100 hours to process and render this version - yeah, it was pretty grainy and poorly lit for those old tube-type cameras. But the audio was good and I knew it was a hell of a show, because I was shooting from the front row, center stage!
Tench must have been a Saint to have worked extensively with 3 known "difficult characters " like Marriott, Van Morrison & Jeff Beck + Freddie King......
steve was humble pie. on to victory was a great record, some great players came thru, anthony sooty jones on bass and bobby trench on lead here, jerry still on drums.

Kiss isn’t a pimple on the asses of ANY of the Pie members. This particular concert is in Marriot’s drug abuse years, sadly, plus he’s sick. Drugs are evil - what they do.
Paul Stanley had huge respect for Steve, this is his quote- “Steve Marriott was MIND BOGGLING. He was everything I aspired to be as a frontman after I saw him. Just riveting and electrifying. The one and only.”
@@boomer1954ful Humble Pie was formed in 1969 and they were tearing it up long before KISS. Paul Stanley definitely idolized Steve Marriott, as did many other great rock vocalists including Robert Plant. Steve was Jimmy Page’s first choice as lead singer for Zep. The Small Faces manager threatened to break Jimmy’s fingers if he pursued Steve. Steve was legendary, which made it sad to see his last years as they were. R.I.P. Steve 🙏

Steve Marriott wasn't just an absolutely amazing musician and singer, he was a force of nature! And all that talent was wrapped up in a small package. He'll always be one of my favorite musicians.
Drummer's playing a stainless Ludwig kit with concert toms, like mine!! Sweet!
Loved Humble Pie for years, man. The way they jammed and with Steve Marriott's intense soulful voice just blew me away. Thanks for the video! 😎👍
Thanks for listening
thats Bobby Tench too!
Thank you!
Great band at THE best venue! Cain's is a national treasure!
Wow! I was there for this concert. Had no idea it was recorded.
@@RockVisionAWESOME JOB MY FRIEND!!!! M.O'B
I saw them on this tour sadly he died shortly after this tour back home. Spoke with him briefly at a pinball machine in the bar.
Naaa he died 11 years later
So underrated
I don’t need no Doctor !!!!! ✨🔥✨
AWESOME, JUST AWESOME TO FIND THIS!!!! M.O'B
ALL HUMBLE PIE ARE INTERESTED
Treasure trove , xx
Love Steve but this is where it went wrong drink drugs performing don't mix
Tench must have been a Saint to have worked extensively with 3 known "difficult characters " like Marriott, Van Morrison & Jeff Beck + Freddie King......
❤STEVE MARRIOT❤
steve was humble pie. on to victory was a great record, some great players came thru, anthony sooty jones on bass and bobby trench on lead here, jerry still on drums.

"Pick a Bale of Cotton" es una canción popular y de trabajo tradicional estadounidense grabada por primera vez por los reclusos de Texas James "Iron Head" Baker (1933) [1] y Mose "Clear Rock" Platt (1939) [2] y luego popularizada por Vientre de plomo (Huddie William Ledbetter).

✌
Back then cains only held 1200 people
Can some one mack a list of the songs please Yes, I don't know why people keep saying Humble Pie was a underrated banner. That's all I remember people talking about when I was in junior high in high school back in the late 70s and early 80s. I just don't get it.
They don't show the large picture s of all the country singers, Bob wills etc. Etc.
I'm a huge fan but this concert was a train wreck.
I will always respect his talent but somehow watching this performance is so sad that its painful.
steve just couldnt figure ir out... shame he had talent but pissed it away
Harldy
Get mad but Bobby was Steve's equal guitar and vocal wise combined maybe not charisma wise
Un idolo quemado.Hoy dirian falta de profesionalidad.
Thats a very bad example…they were better during the Clempson phase but…………
This is what you get when you try to sound like Kiss.
Wizzle These guys were well past their prime to be sure, but KISS? 😣
Kiss isn’t a pimple on the asses of ANY of the Pie members.
This particular concert is in Marriot’s drug abuse years, sadly, plus he’s sick. Drugs are evil - what they do.
Paul Stanley had huge respect for Steve, this is his quote-
“Steve Marriott was MIND BOGGLING.
R.I.P. Steve 🙏
@@vanshipman I heard about that story.
British music managers seemed to be a bunch of crooks and bullies.
Led Zep had Peter Grant one of the same kind.
Today they are more like stock broker yuppies.
