This is perfect. Covers everything, just the right length, great instructor. The tip at the end re the rollup / unroll switch was great - something only an expert would think to add. I tried unrolling my awning for the first time and it was like the Three Stooges. After watching this i did the rollup like a pro. Thank you!

Just a hint for people making how-to videos.... I like to watch the hands and the brackets, switches, all the little pieces you have to work to get it to operate. There are so many shots where he is saying something and his hands are entirely out of the shot. Just a thought. Great starter video, but I'm going to have to search for something more detailed to be sure I don't mess up the new awning on my RV.

This is the simplest and most straightforward video about this I've watched which makes it by far the best one!!! Thanks so much for posting this and not making it seem like shenanigans lol

Thank you. I looked all over for this. My extender arms are sticking and will not go out from the side of my trailer. I lubricanted the whole thing and will try again. Glad you showed taking the pole out and standing them. So much better without the angle in the way.

It would help if you would not put your hands over the mechanism you are describing. Maybe fast forward with the back and forth repetitve parts.

Also, not all mechanisms where the open/close part is are the same. Mine does not have the same lever or markings and I have no idea what to do with the long tool thingie.

How do you open it if you accidentally roll the tether up in it when closing???

Hi there, it is a bit more inconvenient, but you can grab the awning arms near the top and pull to unroll it. It helps to have two people to do this, one on each side. A ladder may also be helpful to you. Happy camping!

Can we pull the awning all the way down and leave it at a better angle to access and clean it?

Excellent video straight-to-the-point but where were those buttons you pushed on the top to release the slide arm when closing? I don't see any buttons on mine

Where do you find the hook? When I bought this from my seller, he had a hook, but, for the life of me I can’t find where it went.

Hi Todd, Our parts team had a few suggestions of things you could try. They are not technicians, and without seeing it, it is hard to diagnose exactly, but they are happy to share their years of experience in hopes of helping. 1) Sometimes you need to give the awning a little extra tug out to loosen the pressure on the lever so it will go back into the rollback position. 2) Or, the ratchet mechanism might be damaged and need to be replaced. 3) Make sure the nut on the rafter arm is loose. Otherwise it won’t collapse back in when trying to roll it up. Best of luck and happy camping!

Finished watching the closing part--sorry, I can't agree with other comments. The filming is horrible. The narrative is fine, but the video only shows a close up of the rails--not what you are talking about. I am as lost as ever. You say "realease the....", but again, the camera is not on the part you are taling about. You have lovely hands, but I want to see what you are descriging, not your hands.
