I think you should have brought up Orochimaru in the forest of death for Obito and Kakashi. Kakashi being a prodigy would interest Orochimaru. You could have maybe said that Obito awakens his sharingan within this fight, despite still losing to a Sannin, and then have the exams proceed as they do.

This was team 7s most deadly and debilitating challenge that nerfed them for the rest of the exams. It was shown in Itachi Shinden that his public age was faked, and he actually got promoted to ANBU captain at 11, and joined the ANBU at 12. So the timeline works.

@@ezequielinsaurralde5058 Itachi died at 21 (databook 4), but he’s stated to be 17 in part 1 (databook 1), so this means that he must have been toward the end of 17 (17 and 10 months or something), in order for the time skip to line up. Since we know he died at 21, that would mean he’s 5 years older than Sasuke, who was 16 at the time. This makes perfect sense for the timeline. As far as Oro, Kisame states that Oro left the Akatsuki 10 years prior (part 2), but it’s unclear if Kisame would know when exactly that took place, since he joined late.
It is unknown if Team Minato is Team 7. It might have been Team 6. Kakashi is twelve during Kakashi Gaiden. Team Dosu would not come after Team Minato if Orochimaru was not after them, and if he was after them, that encounter would need to be detailed. Kakashi is only shown opening the Inner Gates once after Naruto Gaiden. Unknown when he picked that up. It is stated by Kakashi to Itachi that his earlier promotions are not as impressive due to war time, so it does not seem to just be in relation to leadership ability, to some degree it might be overall (though Kakashi is also modest by nature). Obito being compared to a post-war benchmark, therein, is arguably not really fair (he may be on that level regardless, but just saying he is due to his rank is potentially dubious). Obito would have been killed early on in Naruto Gaiden if Kakashi and Minato did not bail him out. He might have just been carried by his teammates for some time, or otherwise got lucky (not saying he is for certain, but a potential counter to be made). Walking on water is not a basic feat. It is noted even more experienced shinobi struggle with it from time to time. In relation to Naruto being weakened against Kiba, it is stated he became stronger (possibly stronger than ever, sans Kurama amplification) when he noted said he would become Hokage, in Rin no Sho. Take that as one will. Ino is actually stated to be the strongest genin kunoichi in Konoha in the First Fanbook, albeit, dubious if this would be sufficient to put her over Rin. Zabuza is not actually a jōnin, he is mused to likely have jōnin-level skills by Kakashi before he fights him, but that is itself wrong as he is likely closer to Kage-level, so Sasuke is freezing up against two ~Kage-level shinobi, rather than the baseline for jōnin. (His actual rank is only ever noted to be AnBu, it is not confirmed if he was ever jōnin: Itachi also never had that rank, for example). Gaara is stated to be far above chūnin off of his very suppressed performance in the Forest of Death. He then shows much more of his abilities in the preliminary elimination, and then gets stronger still after killing two Kusa-nin, and Neji is still in contention for potentially being the strongest genin during the final stage, so Neji might arguably be jōnin or above, consistent with him being noted to be the greatest genius in the/surpassing the entirety of the "strongest" clan in Konoha, the Hyūga (not that he is stronger than Hiashi, but the point stands). Genma noting Sasuke already at the level of chūnin might just be referring to the fact he would be promoted in terms of skill in the exams themselves, not actually capping his abilities at that level. Hayate is considered impressive by Baki who is one of the strongest jōnin in Sunagakure, arguably superior to the Iwa-nin Obito fought, so Hayate intercepting Neji (who was also somewhat distracted by trying to kill Hinata) does not inherently mean Neji is not jōnin-level himself, especially when Konoha standards for their military, post-war, is likely superior to war-time standards in other villages (and in general). Ergo, it is difficult to really conclude Kakashi is inherently faster than Neji, whom Lee needed at least the Reverse Lotus to overcome in relation to speed, which is much faster than his base weightless speed (and by proxy, Sasuke's/Kakashi's). Sasuke, whilst he matched weightless Lee's speed, seemed to hit much harder, since he was putting Gaara unto the ground much faster than Lee did, and is even stated to be Gaara's strongest oppnenet, despite the fact that Gaara was pummelbed by Lee up to the Fifth Gate, using the Reverse Lotus, so there seems to be a disparity betwixt Sasuke's strength and speed. It is unclear if Kakashi, even if he is at Sasuke's speed, could hit that physically hard, albeit, I suppose one could make certain assertions off of him beating Guy when he was six (even used seemingly chakra-enhanced strength in the anime interpretation), but him fighting Guy is also a plot hole (Guy was not even a genin by that point), so take it as one will. It is not clear if Kakashi could use the Inner Gates until after Naruto Gaiden, though. If Kakashi is not strong enough to force Gaara to want to preemptively use Shukaku, Gaara is likely going to substitute away from the Chidori like he did to Lee, which would then let him catch Kakashi with a blind-side counter. If he is strong enough, he might get caught by the sand ball's spikes, depending on his disparity with Sasuke. Albeit, if he does manage to pierce it, it would be his victory since Gaara would take too long to transform and would be disqualified before then (since he passes out). It is dubious if any jutsu in Kakashi's arsenal could pierce the absolute defense if not the Chidori. The Rasengan does not really do piercing damage, and it is not Kakashi's forte to begin with. Sasuke tried Fire Release against Gaara's transformed sand and it failed outright. That Kakashi created the Chidori does not mean he is better at using it, compared to an Uchiha. Sasuke is noted in the First Fanbook to have abilities far surpassing a genin during the Bell Test by Kakashi. Then, Rin no Sho states he is already beyond a genin via his performance against Shiore in the Forest of Death, so his follow-up month of training arguably puts him into a nigh-jōnin bracket, consistent with him being Gaara's strongest foe, with Gaara already arguably being in that tier as well. Also vaguely stated to have skills far beyond his years in his description of the Takigakure novelization from around the same time, for what that is worth.
Interesting that one of the best arguments for Gaiden Kakashi pre Sharingan being Jonin level is Minato himself literally saying so. Anybody irl who disagrees is disagreeing with a top tier prodigy

Gaara is well above chuunin level too, he was destroying Kimimaro who would have no diffed Kakashi (destroyed the sound 4 in base, and the sound 4 beat 2 jonin. Gaara would solo the sound 4 as well). He's easily above low jonins too, even Baki who's a legitimate jonin (killing Hayate) was terrified of Gaara. 3. Kakashi can't do anything to a Gaara sand tsunami, that's an easy win con 4. Chidori simply doesn't work vs Gaara without Sharingan 5. Neji has multiple jonin level techniques, and defeated a high chuunin level character in kidomaru v2 6. Without chidori, Kakashi has no way of beating Gaara. 5th gate lee couldn't put him down through his sand armor. Elemental release attacks are easily addressed with the sand, and physical or sword based attacks are addressed with his sand armor

Singe we know they met in or before the academy, and Kakashi graduated at 5, he can be no older than 10 there. There’s only one piece of information that puts Obito and Kakashi at the same age, and that comes in their databook 4 ages. However, since we get at least 10 pieces of information that show the contrary, the databook 4 age for Obito is simply an error.

The closest thing we get to that is a panel that says “about 20 years ago”, and it shows Team Minato. If it were exactly 20 years prior, Kakashi would be 11, but “about” gives us a range. This means we can safely use the 9-10 year old range for Kakashi, since it’s not contradicted by that at all. The only contradictory piece of information we have is Obito’s adult age. Everything else lines up with him being ≈ 9-10 years old during Kannabi Bridge.

The top end of Chunin would be around where the S4 are individually, since they all scale below fatigued special jonin. So it’s definitely a wide range, which makes sense because Shikamaru is nowhere near weightless Lee, but he’s Chunin tier.

Team Dosu would not come after Team Minato if Orochimaru was not after them, and if he was after them, that encounter would need to be detailed.
Kakashi is only shown opening the Inner Gates once after Naruto Gaiden. Unknown when he picked that up.
It is stated by Kakashi to Itachi that his earlier promotions are not as impressive due to war time, so it does not seem to just be in relation to leadership ability, to some degree it might be overall (though Kakashi is also modest by nature). Obito being compared to a post-war benchmark, therein, is arguably not really fair (he may be on that level regardless, but just saying he is due to his rank is potentially dubious).
Obito would have been killed early on in Naruto Gaiden if Kakashi and Minato did not bail him out. He might have just been carried by his teammates for some time, or otherwise got lucky (not saying he is for certain, but a potential counter to be made).
Walking on water is not a basic feat. It is noted even more experienced shinobi struggle with it from time to time.
In relation to Naruto being weakened against Kiba, it is stated he became stronger (possibly stronger than ever, sans Kurama amplification) when he noted said he would become Hokage, in Rin no Sho. Take that as one will.
Ino is actually stated to be the strongest genin kunoichi in Konoha in the First Fanbook, albeit, dubious if this would be sufficient to put her over Rin.
Zabuza is not actually a jōnin, he is mused to likely have jōnin-level skills by Kakashi before he fights him, but that is itself wrong as he is likely closer to Kage-level, so Sasuke is freezing up against two ~Kage-level shinobi, rather than the baseline for jōnin. (His actual rank is only ever noted to be AnBu, it is not confirmed if he was ever jōnin: Itachi also never had that rank, for example).
Gaara is stated to be far above chūnin off of his very suppressed performance in the Forest of Death. He then shows much more of his abilities in the preliminary elimination, and then gets stronger still after killing two Kusa-nin, and Neji is still in contention for potentially being the strongest genin during the final stage, so Neji might arguably be jōnin or above, consistent with him being noted to be the greatest genius in the/surpassing the entirety of the "strongest" clan in Konoha, the Hyūga (not that he is stronger than Hiashi, but the point stands). Genma noting Sasuke already at the level of chūnin might just be referring to the fact he would be promoted in terms of skill in the exams themselves, not actually capping his abilities at that level.
Hayate is considered impressive by Baki who is one of the strongest jōnin in Sunagakure, arguably superior to the Iwa-nin Obito fought, so Hayate intercepting Neji (who was also somewhat distracted by trying to kill Hinata) does not inherently mean Neji is not jōnin-level himself, especially when Konoha standards for their military, post-war, is likely superior to war-time standards in other villages (and in general). Ergo, it is difficult to really conclude Kakashi is inherently faster than Neji, whom Lee needed at least the Reverse Lotus to overcome in relation to speed, which is much faster than his base weightless speed (and by proxy, Sasuke's/Kakashi's).
Sasuke, whilst he matched weightless Lee's speed, seemed to hit much harder, since he was putting Gaara unto the ground much faster than Lee did, and is even stated to be Gaara's strongest oppnenet, despite the fact that Gaara was pummelbed by Lee up to the Fifth Gate, using the Reverse Lotus, so there seems to be a disparity betwixt Sasuke's strength and speed. It is unclear if Kakashi, even if he is at Sasuke's speed, could hit that physically hard, albeit, I suppose one could make certain assertions off of him beating Guy when he was six (even used seemingly chakra-enhanced strength in the anime interpretation), but him fighting Guy is also a plot hole (Guy was not even a genin by that point), so take it as one will. It is not clear if Kakashi could use the Inner Gates until after Naruto Gaiden, though.
If Kakashi is not strong enough to force Gaara to want to preemptively use Shukaku, Gaara is likely going to substitute away from the Chidori like he did to Lee, which would then let him catch Kakashi with a blind-side counter. If he is strong enough, he might get caught by the sand ball's spikes, depending on his disparity with Sasuke. Albeit, if he does manage to pierce it, it would be his victory since Gaara would take too long to transform and would be disqualified before then (since he passes out).
It is dubious if any jutsu in Kakashi's arsenal could pierce the absolute defense if not the Chidori. The Rasengan does not really do piercing damage, and it is not Kakashi's forte to begin with. Sasuke tried Fire Release against Gaara's transformed sand and it failed outright.
That Kakashi created the Chidori does not mean he is better at using it, compared to an Uchiha.
Sasuke is noted in the First Fanbook to have abilities far surpassing a genin during the Bell Test by Kakashi. Then, Rin no Sho states he is already beyond a genin via his performance against Shiore in the Forest of Death, so his follow-up month of training arguably puts him into a nigh-jōnin bracket, consistent with him being Gaara's strongest foe, with Gaara already arguably being in that tier as well. Also vaguely stated to have skills far beyond his years in his description of the Takigakure novelization from around the same time, for what that is worth.
Interesting that one of the best arguments for Gaiden Kakashi pre Sharingan being Jonin level is Minato himself literally saying so. Anybody irl who disagrees is disagreeing with a top tier prodigy

1. Kakashi didn't create the chidori because he couldn't apply lightning release to the rasengan. He learned the rasengan with his Sharingan
2. Gaara is well above chuunin level too, he was destroying Kimimaro who would have no diffed Kakashi (destroyed the sound 4 in base, and the sound 4 beat 2 jonin. Gaara would solo the sound 4 as well). He's easily above low jonins too, even Baki who's a legitimate jonin (killing Hayate) was terrified of Gaara.

There’s only one piece of information that puts Obito and Kakashi at the same age, and that comes in their databook 4 ages. However, since we get at least 10 pieces of information that show the contrary, the databook 4 age for Obito is simply an error.

This means we can safely use the 9-10 year old range for Kakashi, since it’s not contradicted by that at all. The only contradictory piece of information we have is Obito’s adult age. Everything else lines up with him being ≈ 9-10 years old during Kannabi Bridge.

Also, Sasuke reacts to and briefly outmaneuvers the demon brothers, who are Chunin. The top end of Chunin would be around where the S4 are individually, since they all scale below fatigued special jonin. So it’s definitely a wide range, which makes sense because Shikamaru is nowhere near weightless Lee, but he’s Chunin tier.

I disagree with the gaara vs Kakashi weightless Lee was not enough for him to out speed Gaara by that much and Gaara didn’t even take damage 😂😂😂 he literally stood right back up after the fight 😭😭 so we really don’t know how powerful he was even in the Chunin exams he was tweaked out nd Sasuke barely touched him he then drops the sand ball nd literally is just fine tweaks out his mind harder tho nd leaves the stadium where he proceeds to body sasuke 😭😭😭 why are we downplaying Gaara here he was his same level of strength the entire time while the other characters were building up to get near his level
