It's just like, in India, we travel one state to other which is really far just by trains and for that we need advance tickets as the no of people travelling there is much more due to which we generally don't get tickets.
That late eating is just in big cities where ppl working till late and wake up late as well.. otherwise dinner is usually before 8pm. It would be delayed if dad is late or both dad and mum are late otherwise it’s usually before 8pm. Eat before 8pm, go to bed by 10:30pm and wake up around 4-5:30am. I personally eat it around 7:30pm
You can change your self it’s so easy! Remember I’m white too and lived in India for a long time. You just had to tell your mind that where you are is and must enjoy the people and the meal. All will come easy. Just tell your mind not to think and to just do.
Please don't eat late in the night. In Indian villages you won't find any eatouts open after 9PM - its just the cities because of the working shift and other stuff. Even many Indians realize its not a healthy lifestyle - it becomes belly fat easily so please follow your natural time cycle.
I am an Indian living in Amsterdam now. Came here for studying my masters. I just CANNOT GET USED TO THE COLD and the RAIN! pls save me!!! Although I will be in India in the end of Feb😍😍😍
Yeah there is a time window of 1hr for booking tickets and the available tickets gets sold out pretty quickly for majority of trains . One has to be quick to fill out all the enteries and make payment.
I love your "living in India" vlogs just as much as your travelling vlogs - I seriously am learning more about India than I would ever know otherwise. Here in the USA we don't have much of an Indian minority/culture so it is fascinating to learn about a place that I have never known very much about. Thank you.
There are a lot of Indians in Silicon Valley/Boston/New York. They also celebrate Indian festivals where they invite people from all backgrounds if you show interest. They are very welcoming people.
6-7 PM is the right time for dinner. After sun set the metabolism slows down drastically. In small towns, little cities, well infact except metros, people still have their dinner at 6-7 PM, which is the right thing to do.
Hi Ivana, iam a bangalorean living in Vienna, Austria, have seen your videos, was happy for you that you are able to adjust to the Indian way of life. And you are lucky here its snowing with temp of -10 here. so enjoy anyway Bangalore is famous for its pleasant weather.
I've passed the Hajmola-test :D But even from the Netherlands to Germany there are cultural differences. Eating late? Yes, 6 PM is late. We usually eat between 12 - 1 PM! I had always that trouble with my ex, she was Dutch and working in Venlo, I'm German and working in Germany. I start work at 6.30 AM. Of course I am hungry at 12. So it happened very often, that I ate two hot meals a day, which was not good for my body, either. About trains: Yes, you can buy a ticket always and anywhere in Germany, but you are a fool to do so. The "Deutsche Bahn" has bizarre system of special offers. You will not even find all of them on their website. So you should buy a ticket in advance, at the clerk at the station. Or better ignore the train and take the bus or come by car...
5 things being as an Indian I cannot get used to In Netherlands 1) having dinner around 6pm with my dutch colleagues 2) Being on time on all meetings 3) Reaching work at 7 or 7.30 and leave at 3.30 or 4 4) Dropjes 5) The weather ofcourse ( the dutch hate it too) always complaining 6) Going everywhere on bikes like everywhere everyday...its too cold to bike here But i just love living here. Love my dutch friends. Its so international in Amsterdam. Hopefully you are having a good time in india too. Lots of love ❤️
I'm from India living in US for 15 years now. - Agree with u regarding late dinners. 7pm is ideal dinner time, but lot of companies in India follow western time so ppl get off work late and have dinner late. I think Spain also has the same culture of eating late. - Rushing Indians - totally agree, us Indians can get very pushy -- Hajmola - you're either in or out :D its an acquired taste
Ivana, you go straight to any Railway Station and buy a train ticket to anywhere in India. What you talked about is only for berth/seat RESERVATION SYSTEM. But you can buy tickets for any route any time you want.
but u can book a tatkal ticket at 11am just a day before the day of travelling ..its so easy and u cook book it online..u just need to create an irctc account for that and if u want to know how it is done check youtube..
Get to Trivandrum airport and go from there to Varkala. If coming to Kochi first then get to Varkala by train All u need is a sleeper class train ticket which u can buy from the station just before your journey. There won’t be seats assigned to you but you can sit anywhere which is vacant. Normally trains from Kochi to Trivandrum are not crowded in Sleeper class. This is how I always travel to Varkala
1. Dinner time- I always suffer at parties because of my dinner time which is 8.30 pm. But my other friends have it at 11 or 11.30. I sit there holding my stomach and starving while others are having fun. But I just dont get something, dont you fell hungry if you have your dinner at 6. Because I fell hungry even after eating at 8.30 and have to wake up at midnight to have something. 2. You probably know this but still plez dont choose a random place for learning hindi. Plez choose a inst.to learn it. Cuz in random places (like the one you had to faced) they just take the money and teach badly. 3. Let me tell you something. You are crazy. 4. Train trouble- Even after living in this country for 21 years I am not used it then how will you? 5. Hajmola- Why will anyone ever suggest or buy the yellow one. We used to use that as a punishment in the board games at school. Yes it is that bad. We just LOVED the purple one. If you havent yet then listen to the bong(bengalies are called bong)and try it atleast once. Its tangy and yummy. Peace out ✌!!
Ivana !! You can easily get tickets in India. There is a quota for foreigners in indian trains. Ask someone in the station about it. By the way , you can get great buses ( Volvo multi axel) from Bengaluru to Varkala. Check out the flights from Bengaluru to TVM.

There are two kinds of trains in India. If you are traveling long distance, then you will need to buy the ticket in advance. Then there local trains in some states and for that you can buy a ticket on the spot. And India has some really long distance overnight trains running thousands of kilometers.
Irony is some corporates in India provide flexible working hours, maybe because of the IST(Indian Standard Time). Hi Ivana, I'm living in the Netherlands for more than 2.5 years now and I just cannot get used to the weather. It is good to be freaking - 17 degrees tomorrow and the Dutch are gearing up to skate in the canals.
You can eat your dinner before 8 PM Ivana. It's totally upto you. In small towns & cities, people eat their dinner during this time only. But it's all upto our eating & life style habits. Even we don't like rushing things but then, it happens & we get used to it. It's also not important to book train tickets months before always. You can book train tickets IRCTC website or app , but you should book tickets before 3 months, otherwise it's difficult to get in first class compartments
In rural areas in india ppl eat at 6 to 7 pm. In urban areas we stop work 5 pm. Rest of the time spend on us till late hours. This is our style of living. Don't judge us.
You can buy Tatkal tickets for trains. Pay a little extra and you can get the tatkal ticket 24 hours in advance. Mind you, tickets get sold very fast online. BTW, I have dinner befor 7 PM.
I would suggest , your brother may buy railway ticket before leaving his country. He would get it cheaper and can also get reservation on " express trains but not on mail and /or super fast trains . In case you need to buy within India , there is special quota for foreigners , however, payment could be in foreign currency . Check website for the latest. Summer is vacation time so be quick !
TRAVEL VLOG IV, i have many mumbaiker friends. One of my best friend is a punjabi. He eats at 8 o clock. I dont think so any family on daily basis eat at that time. Ok, fine since i have never been to Mumbai. I accept. Btw i would love if u visit hyd.
@seeEmm non of my friends or family know it either, so im concluding its not a kerala thing. and i dont think i have seen them in stores either. soooo..... anyway wat is it ? a digestive drink, why is it soo great??
How you be a cool In each video Yes I see it 1 year latter but how you manage stress , tiredness I vless God give you happyness forever You are perfect women empowerment example And i have small vocabulary so forget if i don't explained well But your vlog impress me I satrting to watch video because i love to watch what world think about us How we more improve ourself And big reason is your view is very different and perfectly pointed I never travelled much more But after these kind of vlog help me to known very much Sister ❤️🇮🇳🙏
Lights(Background),Lighting(Foreground) is awesome!! Nice Camera position plus angle!! 😍😍 Btw, Ivana u look good with this Hair Style. Combed,Pressed,Neat, that narrow "Road" in between your hair... Everything is perfect in this video..Including your topic of discussion for today!! In India, Everyone is in hurry..But no one is on time!!😂
Ivana, you're probably not reading this, but I will ask you to give the Anardana (Pomegranate) version of Hajmola a try. It comes in a red bottle, is sweeter, and not too yellow-bottle-Hajmola-ish. I'm not being too optimistic about this (which isn't very Indian!) but I think you might like it!
Hi ivana I remember your that viedeo where you r crying and want to live in india for much more longer ................. .........And here you r staying in india may be one of your dreams come true at some point .........HAPPY TO SEE YOU.
wow..!! Iv.... this is so fascinating watching a person like you who is originally not from India however still living in India and getting used to the life style .....
Maybe you can check sites like confirmtkt.com which basically uses probabilistic approach to check if your tickets have higher chance to get booked for a particular day.
Only in Jails prisoners are fed at 6pm.For train tickets try tatkal or trains with flexifare facility like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto and Humsufer trains although you will have to pay more.
Ik woon in Nederlands en ik ben uit India. Mijn vraag is heel simpel, waarom de trein tickets in Nederlands duurder zijn dan andere land in europa bij voorbeeld Duitsland? Bedankt....
I will never get used to the cold in the U.K.! :( It is freezing right now and no amount of warm clothes are helping me feel better! I know what you mean now Ivana, I am so desperate for Mumbai's heat right now. :(
I watch your videos from last one week and smiled maximum times because of you really enjoying Indian culture and here madness and loyalty and you are first foreigner which English I understand. So all the best and keep going
ohh..you don't like Hajmola?? then I would suggest you to have the Hajmola (Imli) and Hajmola (Anar) flavors which are basically tamarind and pomegranate flavored tablets
THERE IS ALWAYS A OPTION OF TATKAL TICKET-u can get it a day before the departure of a particular 🚆! but it cost little bit more in comparison to general one's!
Ivana you can claim foreigner quota or can try Tatkal Quota for train reservation. Just google Tatkal Quota to get all the details. I am a very frequent train traveller and I always use tatkal Quota.
Ivana try IRCTC app for booking tickets and try to avoid train journey during Diwali Holi and other big festivals because during that time it would be tough to get a ticket for traveling in train
Hey Ivana. You are going to Varkala? It's amazing. You can go by flight to Thiruvananathapuram and it's 1 hour from there. Flight rates are cheaper to Thiruvananathapuram. Varkala is soooooo good. It's laid back and chilled out place.
I hope that you got acquainted with our country, India, but you have gone only to the big cities. But I personally would request you to come to our town of Shegaon in the state of Maharashtra, then only you will properly understand the culture here. And place is of pilgrimage, also one subsect of devotion can be observed by you. Hope you like the suggestion.
Ivana..u r right about train tickets....getting a reservation,especially during the festive season,is just like winning a WAR !! :O
Hahhaha so so so true!!!
Hmmmm exactly this happens everytime
Not for the Foreigners.
It's just like, in India, we travel one state to other which is really far just by trains and for that we need advance tickets as the no of people travelling there is much more due to which we generally don't get tickets.

There is foreigner quota in Indian railway to Cater your issue
Pranav Pratik I know but you can only buy those at the station and sometimes they're sold out
Yeah, it is better to consult a travel agent in order to book a confirmed ticket.
Pranav Pratik
better to use the online portal of irctc. agents could scam em.
Over population is a myth for majority Indian , who got used to the congested life of India .
Ivana, according to my understanding there is foreign tourist quota in Indian trains...please contact a nearby travel agent or call 139
kshitij712 correct bro!..👍👏
I know but they're sometimes sold out :-(

the only problem is that Indian railways doesnt work on IST, so you gotta rush when you gotta rush...
It's eating habits between 9 to 12 overnight only happens in cities in India but other place like rural areas eating early in evening.
If u need an instant train tickets..gi for TATKAL service..all u need to di is to book it 24 hours prior to train timing..
Ivana !! You can easily get tickets in India. There is a quota for foreigners in indian trains. Ask someone in the station about it. By the way , you can get great buses ( Volvo multi axel) from Bengaluru to Varkala. Check out the flights from Bengaluru to TVM.
As an indian i agreed with your all points
If you buy train ticket then you actually reserve your own seat.
So if you are gonna travel in emergency then you can buy ticket on spot for the train but due that you will have to travel in general compartment which is horrible for long distance.
But in almost every train there is a ladies compartment in which you can travel safely.
But I will not recommend you to travel without reservations for more than 4hr and especially in night time.
In general compartment don't use the washroom. It is absolutely horrible and these compartments are also really full.
So it is really good to travel with reservations.
I also don't like buying tickets months in advance but because of so much demand it have to be like this.
Anyway, there is a different kind of ticket i.e. TATKAL in which you can book train ticket 1 day in advance by paying extra charge.

You can get tickets 2-4 days before also..But during festive seasons or for long journeys in AC compartments, Booking tickets in advance is important for our own satisfaction.
U should book tatkal tickets for train....one day before.. charges little high but..99% chances will get confirm ticket...
Want to add one more info. For foreigners, there is a quota for train tickets. You can easily avail of those facilities.
If you want to buy tickets you have to login to IRCTC app your problem will shootout
Late eating habits only exists in cities only, in villages people finish their dinners by 8pm at most.
Running in USA is much much faster than in India as I have grown there and cannot get used to here in the states
If you like India, & plan on staying, then stay !
It's good to get a resident Visa . It's good for 5yrs.
It's temporary, but renewable.
You should try different flover of hazmola. I initially did not liked it but later somehow I used to it.
no one eats dinner at 12 am 😒. Ok may be bachelors
vamsi mohan Have you ever met Punjabis and Mumbaikers? 😁

@@IvanaPerkovicOfficial Am somewhere where eat at 5:30 pm
Even I like to have food before 7pm but my wife won't prepare early (My mother too).
India city life no fixed time for dinner but when u go to village or hometown than time for dinner is 7 to 8 pm
If you book on time, the budget airlines sometimes end up being cheaper than the Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains!
north side summer time 40c + heat.. south side 30c+ 38c
Try tatkal facility for trains
Indians take life as a journey not as a mission......
Wat is hajmola?? Is it a north indian thing??? I live in kerala. I dont think i have heard about it
if you dont know what hajmola is and you are indian then you must be living under a rock!
@seeEmm non of my friends or family know it either, so im concluding its not a kerala thing. and i dont think i have seen them in stores either. soooo..... anyway wat is it ? a digestive drink, why is it soo great??

Je moet de Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Matheran Hill Railway(dichtbij Mumbai), Kalka-Shimla railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway en de Kangra Valley railway proberen.
Mr Akshay how many regional languages u have learnt? Double standards from u guys have made regional languages take a back seat.......
hajmola is available in many flavours u must try other than normal flavour
Can you please explain the name of
Your channel.... Just curious
I will never get used to the cold in the U.K.! :( It is freezing right now and no amount of warm clothes are helping me feel better! I know what you mean now Ivana, I am so desperate for Mumbai's heat right now. :(
there are also Hajmola candy, try those first and then after some times go for the core Hajmola...
no one eats dinner at 12 am. i think perhaps you might be considering it as a second "dinner" instead or a snack.
Yay!! I was waiting for your brother in your vlogs. Now we'll get to see him again.
Hajmola is a candy isn't it???
Lol I booked my train ticket for Jaipur for like 2 months before the travel date.. And guess what it's still waiting. I hope it get confirmed soon.
Hajmola anardan u should try
Dinner at 6 PM 😳😳😳😳
Ya, it is ther with some very cool hill areas...
haha 12 am is a bit exaggerated. Early is 8 pm, normal 9 pm and late 10pm and onwards
Do you intend to get a drivers license?
You can buy 'tatkal' tickets, like one day before :)
And there is less chance to get it
There's one more thing u should know about the timing of trains in India.
Ivana you can claim foreigner quota or can try Tatkal Quota for train reservation. Just google Tatkal Quota to get all the details.
I am a very frequent train traveller and I always use tatkal Quota.
U should travel chandigarh
12am same here 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗......y get citizenship ... it will just give you a bit tax deduction
Nice observations !! sister.
Lolz you love heat, then you should visit Vidarbha in Maharashtra 47°C normal summer temp.🤘😀
Wrong, Kerala was perfect time for your food timings,it's only in Bangalore, we have in between 8-9 dinner
Ivana try IRCTC app for booking tickets and try to avoid train journey during Diwali Holi and other big festivals because during that time it would be tough to get a ticket for traveling in train
Yes, some hajmola flavours are bad, I like the IMLI flavour. Although, I don't know they still sell those staff or not.
ivana you are right and u noticed right things ..its need to improve by Indian people thanks for this video ..love from mumbai
You should ask to your roommate how to book train tickets in tatkal (immediate) means a day before your journey
When I lived In India, I used to book tickets 3 months in advance because IT IS JUST TOO MUCH LOL
beautiful lighted background!!😙...btw how much did those side tables cost????...i want to buy them 😙😙😍
