  • To celebrate it's 65th Birthday, HMR held a Gala Day on 5th June 2913.
10 Locos, 7 drivers, 3 guards and a host of hard working helpers entertained Hastings and many visitors that day.
Hope you enjoy this video of some of the day's events.
Filmed by 'M', (with added bits from Mark, Dan Harrison and Sinead)
Music parodies arranged and performed by Mark Alexander.(with thanks and apologies to the original composers!)

Nice to see FireFly back in Hastings. I drove her during 76, 77 & 78. Brought back so many memories of such a grand era. Thanks.

As a student and very young teacher I drove the brand new Meteor when new in about 1970-71 when there was a shortlived 10 and a quarter gauge line on the embankment above the war memorial in Alexandra Park. It had a Petter diesel engine if I recall correctly. I had also spent some happy summers driving the Royal Scot and Hampton Court steam locos on the seafront line. Drove Firefly a few times also, but it was mainly the favourite loco of the late Jim Hughes who was the founder and talented model engineer owner of the line. Would be great to see all three locos back together for the 70th anniversary!

Nice video, looks like a really enjoyable event. Nice touch to put your own music (and lyrics) to it. The laid back guy in the Inter City at 06:50 seemed to be enjoying himself ! :-)

Was a great fun day... and probably my favorite moment WAS being 'laid back' whilst having a ride in Jerry Lee (the Intercity train!) I wasn't however quite as laid back whilst recording the music for this video, especially whilst *coughs* singing my slightly amended vocals to a classic song. (Sorry Mr Rea)

    Thanks Windypics (and Mollsmyne)
The laid back guy on the Intercity is Mark, who did the musical arrangements.
Jerry Lee is the train he likes driving best, so the fact that it had no engine in it due to overhaul, wasn't going to stop him taking part in the headers!
We have fun at HMR. Glad you enjoyed the video.

I'm impressed with your time-travel abilities, but are you sure that all of this was filmed in 2913 and not, say, in 2013?
