HMR Alexandra Park Fun Day with Herbie
The title says it all. A bit of fun in the park with music from local Folk group The Committee Band.
Hastings Miniature Railway, Alexandra Park hosts a special Fun Day for FMR's visiting engine Herbie after his re-build.
It was cold and windy, but it didn't deter the drivers!
An extra bit of fun towards the end when a couple of the railway children definitely went faster than the trains!
Sorry it's not HQ video as per usual..... blame battery failure!

To celebrate it's 65th Birthday, HMR held a Gala Day on 5th June 2913. 10 Locos, 7 drivers, 3 guards and a host of hard working helpers entertained Hastings and many visitors that day. Hope you enjoy this video of some of the day's events. Filmed by 'M', (with added bits from Mark, Dan Harrison and Sinead) Music parodies arranged and performed by Mark Alexander.(with thanks and apologies to the...

This video shows Hasty and Rhuddlan Castle arriving at the new miniature railway at Hatfield House on 26th March 2013, following the closure of Knebworth Park Railway last year. After being unloaded, each had test drives around the brand new track, before Dan Radcliffe (HMR Owner and builder of Hasty) treated the workers to the 1st passenger ride. Music is the fantastic "South American Getaway"...

What gauge Is this railway
Ooh, now that's a creative idea for a steam outline loco.
Awesome! 👌👌👌👍👍👍🍻🍻🥂🥂🍾
Why does it have a proper firebox
to make look like a real steam train.
Perhaps the gradient on his home railway in Hastings is not so steep ! Saw this burbling back and forth this summer down here. At one time I'm sure some joker put "Swallow" type InterCity emblems on him !
A delightful video with well-chosen music.
Smart driver. Good video.
Nice to see FireFly back in Hastings. I drove her during 76, 77 & 78. Brought back so many memories of such a grand era. Thanks.
As a student and very young teacher I drove the brand new Meteor when new in about 1970-71 when there was a shortlived 10 and a quarter gauge line on the embankment above the war memorial in Alexandra Park. It had a Petter diesel engine if I recall correctly. I had also spent some happy summers driving the Royal Scot and Hampton Court steam locos on the seafront line. Drove Firefly a few times also, but it was mainly the favourite loco of the late Jim Hughes who was the founder and talented model engineer owner of the line. Would be great to see all three locos back together for the 70th anniversary!
What did happen to it ???
I'm impressed with your time-travel abilities, but are you sure that all of this was filmed in 2913 and not, say, in 2013?
Excellent video, you guys do have some fun, nice meeting you last weekend, will come down again.Keep an eye out for my video soon.I have liked and subscribed.Regards Chris.
Was a great fun day... and probably my favorite moment WAS being 'laid back' whilst having a ride in Jerry Lee (the Intercity train!) I wasn't however quite as laid back whilst recording the music for this video, especially whilst *coughs* singing my slightly amended vocals to a classic song. (Sorry Mr Rea)
Thanks Windypics (and Mollsmyne) The laid back guy on the Intercity is Mark, who did the musical arrangements. Jerry Lee is the train he likes driving best, so the fact that it had no engine in it due to overhaul, wasn't going to stop him taking part in the headers! We have fun at HMR. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Very enjoyable video. You guys really know how to enjoy yourselves. That's what its all about. Looks like an excellent Railway. Here's to the next 65 years.
Nice video, looks like a really enjoyable event. Nice touch to put your own music (and lyrics) to it. The laid back guy in the Inter City at 06:50 seemed to be enjoying himself ! :-)
I well remember uncle jim when i visited hastings back in the early 80's. great video.
I kinda miss going to Hastings. Since Ive moved half way across the world, its been hard getting there xD My grandparents live in Pett, so I go back every few years though.
