    New owner of this lens. Purchased before seeing the video. It isn’t as big as DLSR lenses. Perhaps if compared with compact options associated with rangefinders. Appreciate your opinions and your images are amazing. The focus ring is dampened and and feels as good as the Summilux. There are subtleties between the 2 but on digital sensors apart from the coolness in images made by the Zeiss they are both indistinguishable. And every now and then the Zeiss makes better images than the Summilux. I love this lens. Surprisingly there are so few quality reviews about this lens.

    This is one of the most underrated products on the planet! Oh yeah, and it’s photographic equipment:) Jokes aside, this lens is truly the perfect tool for any hard core 35mm fast aperture M-shooter. It’s by far the best one I’ve ever used (others include Lux, Voigt, Typoch). This lens is a champion.

    Nice review. May i kindly ask how do you do the scanning? All the photos look stunning to me

      The photos in this video were scanned by the excellent Carmencita Film Lab out of Valencia, Spain! I think the scans were done by their Fuji SP3000. Glad you enjoyed the photos, thanks for watching! :)

      @@dr.ralphklose7667 At most I did some light post processing (bringing down highlights, playing with contrast a touch), otherwise they are exactly as they came from the lab, glad you enjoyed them :)

    Great photos man. Thinking about getting an sl2 soon and trying to work out what M mount lens to use for it. This video might have sold me

      Go for it! I tried it one the sl2 when it was just coming out in Spain, the SOOC iq is insane. The larger body of the SL also means it actually balances pretty darn well. Glad you enjoyed the vid

    Vignetting is fine by me, I often add it in post. The Distagon is the best M mount lens I've ever used, so sharp and contrasty, and with beautiful rendering.

    I just got mine today and its a lovely size. It just depends whats your used to. I have an SL2-s with a 24-90 SL and before that I had a canon R5 with the 28-70 f2 👀😂😂😂

      Thinking of selling my Nikon Z7/Z6 bodies for the SL2s. How is the Zeiss m 35/1.4 working in the SL2s?

    I run the distagon 35/2 on the GFX50r. Absolutely gorgeous.

    Micro contrast determines how we perceive sharpness. Not necessarily how much detail there is in the image. It also helps to give images depth. Zeiss is known for doing well in this regard. I would buy them over the Leica lenses just because they are in many regards as good as these but I much more like the color rendition of Leica lenses (on a Leica body). Nothing comes close…

    I hear the 35lux is actually a hair more contrasty. Im surprised this is more contrasty than the cron. I have one coming in the mail so I dont know yet, I couldnt find a silver cron for the right price until recently.

    • @elderinmoi1571
      @elderinmoi1571 2 года назад

      The Zeiss is more contrasty than any Leica 35mm lens if this is what you want. For me it is borderline too much contrast. Yes - that is possible and also not desirable.

    nice review. the hood seems excessively priced - because it uses the same bayonet mounting as Voigtlander, it is possible to get a Voigtlander one less expensively. I did that for my Zeiss C Biogon and saved some $$$...

    Thanks for this.. 👌
    What about distortion?

    • @DrewWaddell
      @DrewWaddell  Год назад

      If I remember correctly there is a little bit of distortion, not really enough to be perceptible in 99.9 percent of situations, but it is complex, meaning that it may require a bit more effort to fix. But I think it’s imperceptible unless you only take pictures of grid paper so I wouldn’t worry about it
