    Another great episode. Creepy for sure. Also weird I just watched the original 1979 movie last night on a whim and my favorite podcast talked about it very next day!! In the movie there was a terrible thunderstorm which drowned out the gunshots. Not sure if that was a possibility? Probably just a Hollywood twist but another angle if it were true

    Yeah I'll never be convinced that 8 members of the same family prefer the exact same sleeping position, or even that they coincidentally all ended up in that very position in a, what, 10, 15 minute time frame. No way.

      It was 6 family members not 8. And yes I agree with you about the positions of the deceased all being the same.

    Thank you for discussing this bizarre case..There was a paranormal team that was allowed to search the lake, and they found an old gun not far from the boathouse..Anyway when they called the police they came out and took the gun from them,and after 7 years they will not return it to the team after saying that they could have it back..Of course they think it was the one he tossed that no one was able to locate but who knows..All I know is that I had nightmares after reading this book probably because I was around 9 years old.. However,I do not believe in the haunting I believe it was a staged in order to sale books..

    Let’s just say if he shot Dad first, then Mom. Adults wake to noise much more often than children. In fact I have seen a study where they found many children don’t even wake to fire alarms. They even have fire alarms with a recording of their Mom’s voice, which is found to be the sound that wakes children out of a sound sleep best.
    So I am not shocked that kids slept through it.
    As to why the neighbors didn’t I don’t have any idea.

    I read the book and I still don't understand how after the first rounds went off in parent's room the kids didn't jump out of bed! I find that to be the most odd fact not the supposed haunting.

    Damn, all these years I was under the firm belief that no drugs of any kind found in the victims, which drives you nuts with the question WHY them didn't run, didn't even wake from the shotgun blast! I was one inch away from accepting the paranormal theory.

    I went to a dinner in 1990 and heard recordings of ghost voices held by the warrens with my best friend from high school. We went to the museum and I made my friend tough the Annabelle doll and Ed stopped him and blessed him. Then we went to the oldest cemetery in ct, it was fun!

      right, didn't think so, I'll have to look and see how close the neighbors are, although that may have changed.
      good case for you to choose, I guess I must have been a junior in high school when it happened, but I probably didn't read the details since I don't remember it. hhhmmm.
      what about covering the case of the woman who went missing during 9/11? I'll have to look up her name. I guess unfortunately not many details out there from before or after really. oh right, Sneha Anne Phillip. still an interesting case. seems to me like she was a runner.

    Was there any evidence of carbon monoxide in their lungs or in the home? For them to (possibly) not to wake up could he have somehow rigged the furnace to expel carbon monoxide , then aired out the house, closed the windows, shot them while they were all still unconscious, and then gone to report their murder at the bar? Does that fit into the timeline and/or the available evidence?

    • @User-nx7rs
      @User-nx7rs 6 месяцев назад

      Then why use the firearm when the carbon monoxide from the furnace would have already taken their lives?

    Maybe I've seen too many movies but is the potato silencer plausible? And I'm being serious lol Is it a real thing? Or even shooting through a pillow. And do we know for sure that the family was asleep when they were murdered? Is it possible he told them to lay face down because he didn't want to look at them during the executions? I'm not sure the position and state of the bodies would indicate 100% that they were actually asleep.

    Did you really just stereotype Italian Families. Unbelievable! When your brain makes you first say “ maybe some will be offended by this”. You probably should find a better way to say it. Plus your statement was unnecessary and irrelevant to the family dysfunction. It was your own personal connection. Shameful.
