Nice haul the craftsman grinder is really cool and that large plate caught my eye to try on mine . the tap and dies I just brought a box of assorted taps all vintage and USA and we all know the cost of just one quality tap or die . I was telling a lady today at Lowes I'm tool and hardware nut, I have zero room for any more but I'll find room
You always find the coolest tool sets. Sorry I haven’t been keeping up on your vids lately, things have been super busy. Hope you and your family had a great Christmas Tom. Have a great weekend and take care🎄
You got some really nice items. Congratulations. It seems during the last few months, estate sales have dried up by me, unless you want to travel. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
23:00 Yup that lard oil was notorious for turning early 1900s wooden tap and die boxes moldy messes. But man these tap and dies are super clean no rust at all. I really dig the Craftsman lamp attachment, just like the points of articulation. Also the Dayton 1" is belt sander is a sweet find too!
Outstanding haul Tom. Maybe your best yet. That belt sander is sweet. I have a HF cheapo that fills my needs but I’d love to have one like that. And the vintage Craftsman stuff is great too. I’m sure that guy was peeved. I’m glad you beat him to it this time!
I just bought one of those little giant tap handles, 50cm long. Actually giant. Fun fact, Greenfield used to have a subsidiary in the Netherlands sadly you can actually find greenfield little giant tap and dies that say made in Holland! Same goes for Nicholson files. Great video Tom!
The Craftsman die set came in a plastic case that was very susceptible to breaking down and crumbling that's why those parts were in a cardboard Box I've been trying to keep my plastic Case for mine together but it's a lost cause. Also the ratchet is a Thorsen I have a couple of them one of which came with a Thorsen kit number 1438 RBS. RED BOX SPECIAL. The company was sold a couple of times. Parts of the company were sold off which included the Oakland facility and the rest of the company had moved to Illinois that was when the Elgin watch company bought them. Eventually most of their tools were sourced from Asia and I think you will notice that you'll see a lot of cheaper Asian tools that have a very similar look. Great find. edited grammar and corrections
Great scores! Love the 42 and the tap and dies sets! Wish I lived closer I'd try to beat ya out of one of the 42 Sanders ya got.👍 but I'll find one!! Enjoyed!
Bench Grinders are always handy to have, there's so many accessories and having multiple grinders set up ready to go is the way to go...........Alloy Artifacts has some info on Thorsen, says around 1962 they started adding "MFD USA", maybe that's a Pre-62 set. Apparently that open gear ratchet design goes back to the 30s.
Looks like another great score. I really like the tap & die sets but I have some of those large sets so I'd have to say this time that I'm a little envious of that sander. I'm still looking for one. Great stuff as always. You have a good eye for stuff.
Wow Tom what an amazing haul! You sure find a lot of great stuff. (Feels great to beat those “pros” every once in a while). Those tap and die sets are sweet. I’m a sucker for anything in a wooden box. The belt sander is super nice. I’ve got one of the cheaper 1x42” and love mine. Oh and I agree you can’t have too many of those Craftsman bench grinders lol. I’ve been looking for a chuck for a wood lathe I got. I wonder if that one would work? I’ll check your EBay. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!! P. S. I forgot to say “good thing you bundled the Blundells” 😬 And that Thorsen set is incredible. Never seen one. 👍🏼
I sure enjoy your videos. Being a new subscriber, do you find much at garage sales or is it mostly estate sales. Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan Ps. The place I got my mini lathe, ( little machine shop ) sells nice canvas covers for $20 if I remember correctly.
Greg I go to both but more estate sales. Based on your recommendation I checked for that canvas cover it’s currently on back order. Thanks for the heads up!
Irwin still makes their taps and dies in the USA.They used to make them for Matco and Snap On.Cut off Matco in 2016 and Snap On this year.Cut off Snap On due to when Snap On came out with their locking pliers made by Malco.Irwin did not like it and told Snap On they were done making the taps and dies, easy outs for them
Hey TG, been looking for a bench grinder, not sure whether to go with a new made in China or try to find an old Craftsman. All the Craftsman I've seen are either on FB Marketplace or Offer Up and are also foreign made. You wouldn't be selling that baby would you??? Anyway let me know what you recommend and appreciate the help!!
We Are All Friends, Until They Open The Door At Estate Sales!!!! Great Video!!! Happy Hunting!!!!
Indeed! Well said

Haha he was peeved but loosened up a bit towards the end. Lol
What a steal! That belt grinder is awesome. Dayton motor says pro quality. Is the duty cycle on the motor 100%?
Love the belt sander

That would makes sense, appreciate you looking that up!

Thanks Jim, the belt sander has been great!
MERY CHRISTMAS YOUNG JEDI!!!
I’m jealous.💪👍🇺🇸
I like the 1/3 HP Craftsman grinder; 42" Dayton 1/3 HP belt sander + additional belts. I have a similar set of Blundell needle files.
Hi Michael, appreciate you watching and commenting.

Wow had no idea, great info Walter.
@@TomGunnTools Malco bought the tool plant from lrwin after lrwin closed it down.
Nice haul. I would be interested in the Xcelite stuff. How can make a secure connection?
Sorry, sent them to someone I owed a favor.
check your little box of taps & dies for the sets

Wow!!! I’ll take those excelite ratcheting and non-ratcheting screwdrivers off of you. Just let me know what you’d like for them.
Hope you enjoy them
