Blender 3.3 NEW FEATURE makes Stylized Hair EASY - Geometry Nodes
In today's video we're going to learning a new feature, technique, in Blender 3D. This is a new feature in Blender 3.3 using geometry nodes and the new particle hair curve system, we can sculpt our hair using geometry nodes. We will create stylized hair great for 3D cartoon and anime characters. Hope you enjoy.

Great and simple tutorial for something that seemed so intimidating at first! ❤
I wish we saw the final result of that hair shape groomed into a hairstyle
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have spent the past 72 hours trying to create/control the thickness in the hair system.
I never seen it such an easy way to make hair. Thank you! Awesome!
THIS is PERFECT!!! A great way to make your hair shapes in the system, and then convert them to a mesh with actual geometry! Thank you, thank you, a thousand times, thank you!
So neat! Gonna try this out later today on my creature sculpt for some chunky shaggy stylized fur!
One thing they left out is the deflector option that prevents you brushing hairs below the surface of the object, hope they add that back in
yeah exactly, I think in some cases I'll just stick to the particle system workflow
Hi. I'm sure you've updated to at least 3.5 by now. You will find a deflector/non collision button in hair system's Sculpt Mode. Look over to the right and you will see a Symmetry option with X,Y,Z...but immediately to the right of that is a button that looks like a broken square. Click on it to activate collision avoidance. :) (Sorry if I didn't explain this in the best of terms. :)
@@saintelmo5590 Wow could they make it less obvious? Thanks for the helpful info.
@@sheldonmclean78 My pleasure....and I agree. :)
Great tutorial., how does one add color/texture to the hair though?
Pretty clear, cover what i needed! Thanks ;-)
Thank you for this tutorial !!!
thanks for the free month! just what I needed :)
Thanks for this great tutorial! ♥ I did not find a way to convert this hair to an exportable mesh for unreal sadly..
Found the solution: ruclips.net/video/9_FwznG7uLA/видео.html
make sure you put the uv map on the object before you create the curves or it wont work
Febens Lordeus Thank you!
As always, a great tutorial. thank you! I'm like who does he sound like... finally dawned on me, you sound like Adam Scott lol
Ok, I get how to create the hair, I wish there was some help on grooming 'cause when I comb it it just gets inside the base mesh
nice! great sharing.
This guides great, I've used it 4x so far ha
Great video! First time I'm working with geometry nodes, is there a way to convert the stylized hair into a mesh?
Awesome 😎
Super helpful tutorial! I followed along with it and now can't figure out how to apply a material to the hair. Any tips?
Oops nevermind, figured it out :)
@@IsaacCartoons Would you kindly guide me to the solution? 🙈
@@Turnroot Just put a set material node right before the output node :)
Thanks friend! So simple If you know what to do 😅
Amazing! But how can I convert this to a mesh?
I wish I knew too! Ive got models that look cool but are utterly stuck in Blender until they allow us to convert it into meshes.

Would you do a stylized wall paint tutorial?(Color Wash, Strié, Rag Rolling, Sponging) Maybe procedural and add them to your crafty pack?
Couldnt add any texture :C why????
Thanks for the tut. Is there a way to globally change the segment count of added curves? ( I know you can subdivide preview, I'm talking about the base segment count)
Awesome. How did you come upon the spline parameter node?
Furrpect 👌
here is my question. how can i turn the hair into a mesh once i finish it?
Found the solution: ruclips.net/video/9_FwznG7uLA/видео.html
is it possible to convert to particle system and retain the shape of the curves ? i mean the teardrop shape into particle system
This was super helpful! Is there a way to convert the hair to exportable poly geo? I've tried but it won't let me apply the geometry nodes modifier. Again, thanks!
Yeah but you don't apply the geo nodes modifier. Instead, Select your hair, Then Object Menu > Convert > Convert to Mesh.

@@ThinkingPolygons Awesome! Thank you! :D
Dont understand that last stage how to grab the curve system and bring up the search bar ? I don't know the commands for this
is it possibile to convert all in a mesh?
Yes, see this: ruclips.net/video/9_FwznG7uLA/видео.html
buen video xd nodos son el futuro xd
how do I convert this into a mesh?
hey I do have a small issue though... I can't make them hair dynamic...
How is you character model soo sharp at edges? I would like to watcha time lapse of its sculpting if possible.
How to animate like a wind or turbulence?
Thanks for the great tutorial! Question: Where do i change the colour of the hair? Ive tried applying it like a normal shader but cant get the colour to show, please help, im on 3.3.5
Can you make a tutorial on how to make a 2d eye rig that can move around on the model eyeball?
Is there a hair dynamics in the new blender hair system? TIA!
how do i change the color of it?
is it possible to use this to make anemone corals?
how to make plane strands instead of those spike ones?
Change the curve profile input to whatever shape you want
I'm really stuck, new Hair Curves, I can't join the curve to my object. rigging object hair curve is not attached to mesh
I want to import the 3D model with the new hair tool, but gltf looks like it doesn't support this thing yet, anybody knows how to make it work? new to blender don't know anything :D
how do you add partings? I have areas where I have added a clump node modifier, but it tries to pull hair together form either side of the parting, which is not what i want.
i could add a texture mask to gude the hair I guess, but would have to leave a blank area in the mask where I don't want the clump to take effect ?
I'm still struggling to figure out why my hairs are not working correctly. Even from the initial steps. I get as far as add hair and it creates a REALLY long hair (I can't even scroll to see the end of it). if I click again I get multiple of various sizes, angles and positions, even if it is set to only add one at a time. I'm getting so frustrated trying to figure this out.
Hey question, when I created the modifier with nodes, I couldn't the Sculpt tool to use different node networks I've created. When I input a hair in sculpt mode it's always the first one on the right. Even if I've made 10 underneath.
I dont exactly understand why, but when I plug my spline parameter factor into radius I get a very odd shape. Almost like flattens the hair out like uv editing. If I plug length however into radius it looks the same, but then I have issues with the color ramp. I will play with it more, but curious if anyone has had the same issue
I actually managed to figure this out. The factor produced was to big a number and adding a math node, setting to multiply and using a value of 0.01 worked for me
Hmm... without being able to cut the hair and no dynamics I don't see the use of this yet :S
Is there any way to ad collision so that the hairs don't clip through the mesh?
I don't think there is yet, but I heard this type of stuff is in the works for geometry nodes. So hopefully soon.
@@SouthernShotty very cool video, and thanks for the reply!
Next)
jahat banget nggak sampe selesai jelasinnya :( , cara warnaiinnya gimana plisss :( . How to colour the hair using those curves? :(
Please make some basic videos on particles
They have made huge changes in that, removed the whole tab
In new software we are not able to do even the basics we were used to do
Please do some basics on that
No offense but please decrease the treble while editing ur videos pls..
