- join me as I take on the Intimidating TBR Book Tag - I was tagged by @BooklessPete however I am unsure who actually started this tag! If anyone knows, please tell me so I can update this description. As always, thanks for watching - Please like, subscribe, thumb's up and comment.
I do have one update to the above: I was also tagged by @davidnovakreadspoetry on this tag!
The Prompts:
1) What book have you been unable to finish?
What book have you yet to read because...
2) ...you just haven't had the time?
3) ...it's a sequel?
4) ...it's brand new?
5) ...you read a book by the same author and didn't enjoy it?
6) …you're just not in the mood for it?
7) ...it's humongous?
8) ...because it was a cover buy that turned out to have poor reviews?
9) What is the most intimidating book in your TBR pile?
If you watched this, then you are tagged! Take it on! It's a good way to examine what's left on your shelf each month after the readings done!
Books mentioned:
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
The Emperor of all Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien (at large)
The Two Towers by JRR Tolkien
The Return of the King by JRR Tolkien
The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton
How To Read a Book by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren
The Stand by Stephen King
You Like It Darker by Stephen King
House of Dark Shadows by Robert Liparulo
Watcher in the Woods by Robert Liparulo
The Gatekeeper by Robert Liparulo
The Troop by Nick Cutter
If you have read any of the above, please comment below - let me know what you thought!
Channel mentioned: @bookstalgic (thanks for the "heads up" about "The Troop", but I think I will "rehome" that one and look for another horror story to read for an overnight segment in October) Anyone have any suggestions? Let me know in the comments below.
Many thanks to the viewer who gifted me the Barnes and Noble Gift Card! I'm going today to pick up "You Like It Darker" by Stephen King! Very excited!
Wonderful sharing ❤❤❤
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting
Great job! I'm glad you seem to have gotten your diagnosis early and are doing well.
It's a miracle they found it when they did! A routine screening and an astute Radiologist saved my life!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il that's so wonderful to hear! ♥️♥️♥️
My only April read was The Stand. Gave myself 30 days to finish it. Got behind a bit, but was able to finish it in a decent amount of time. It moves quicker than I thought it would.
That's what I was thinking - just make it THE TBR for the month! If I like it as much as everyone else seems to, it will definitely go quickly!
Ann Patchett A State of Wonder was excellent
Thanks for the recommendation! I kind of feel like I owe Ann Patchett a second look after the "Bel Canto" debacle! LOL! I just wasn't in the mood for it - but I really do think I'll end up finishing it at some point.
Hey! Sorry to hear about your diagnosis! Hope it was caught early enough to beat easily! This is such a fun tag with so many possibilities! I love the Hobbit, hopefully you find Fellowship soon so you can read em all again!
Yes, the cancer is Stage 1. It doesn't stand a chance!😉
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il yay! Kick it’s butt!!!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il YES. I'm SO happy to hear this. You'll have to pace yourself on your TBR because you have many, many wonderful years ahead of you! 🥰
Haha I can’t wait for October! 😅 And impulse buy, I don’t know her… who is she? I would never! I’m considering myself tagged, this was great!
Sending good thoughts to you and Donna! This video made me chuckle a lot 😊🌸
LOL! Who knows? Thank you! It was kind of fun!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il It was a lot of fun! 😊 Pat is right though, skip all the books that don't make you feel good! Don't listen to me and my nonsense! 💜
I've had things like that happen (about LOTR) I can't remember right off the top of my head but it seems to happen frequently. Kind of like a reverse of my "Black Hole". I've read The Stand when it was first released in paperback. It didn't take me long to finish it because it was so good. I still admire how you handle "tagging" people. Pretty original. Thank you -James
Really enjoyed this tag. I answered the questions for myself as you went along and certainly could relate. Recently tried to thin out my TBR shelf by reading the first chapter of each book. Out of 60+ books I unhauled THREE! :0) Also, with 4 young adult grandkids, I am totally into YA books. I'm interested in the Liparulo series since one of our favorite movies when my own kids were young adults was Watcher in the Woods. Wonder if the book and movie are related. Best wishes to you!
LOL! Yes, I saw that video - I sometimes PICK OUT a book based on the first sentence, but never unhaul based on the first chapter. Seems like a good way to go.
Hi Reney. Great responses to these prompts. I have to say that before you even held up Bel Canto, I started to laugh. I thought, "She's going to show Bel Canto." I think you should just give yourself a break. It's not the right time for you to read that book. Come back to it some other time. Be kind to yourself. Oh, and definitely drop the book with the animal torture. You definitely do not need that--now or ever. Terrific job with the tag, though.
You are absolutely right! Bel Canto is off the TBR...The Troop is going back to the Goodwill! Whew! I feel better now!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il There you go! Self care! With a little help from your friends!
@@BookChatWithPat8668 You're a good friend Pat!
@@ellenmadebookclub we all look out for one another, don’t we? ❤️
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Absolutely! Except for me: "Can't wait for October!" Felt kinda dumb when I saw your take on it! 🤦♀ But I hope and think Reney knows I mean well!
I love that you actually felt bad for a book because you keep putting it down. 😂 I love that we give them (books) personalities.
Great Thumbnail... Couldn't wait to see what you had to say about it. It's massive but as I've said before... it's my all time favorite book... For what that's worth. Lol I enjoyed this tag. Holding you accountable for this Oct read... 😂
I WILL do the overnight October read - but it won't be The Troop. Not overly excited about the animal abuse! I think I can find something more suited to my taste!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il Yeah I heard there was a really disturbing stuff in that book. Thank you and I already talked about that as well. Really no need. Who wants to read about that? Not me anyway. 😂 Enjoy the rest of your day.
The Stand is so good! I listened to it on audio. Do you ever listen to books?
I do, yes. In fact, I've listened to a couple of King's books.
Hello, my name is Christina and I'm new to your chancel and the books I'm reading are. The Escape Room by Megan Coldin, Good Luck with That by Kristan Higgins, The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks, The Rumor by Elin Hilderbrand, the truth about forever Sarah Dessen
Hello! Thanks for watching! I've read some Sparks and, I think - 1 Hilderbrand. But none of the others you mentioned. Let me know if any are exceptionally good, and I'll keep them in mind!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il The escape room was good the book was better than the movie. I gave this book 5 stars. Good luck with that was ok. I gave this book 3.5 stars. The truth about forever was good. I gave this book 4.5 stars.
The Emperor of the Maladies sounds really interesting book and I definitely want to give that one a try. Wow, I didn't realize The Stand was so long! I hope you find a really good horror (fun horror) book for your overnight. I'm glad you decided to skip over The Troop! Honestly, those animals scenes still haunt me a little and I don't think I'll ever try one of his books again, even though the underlying story was really good. I thought the book "What Moves the Dead" by T. Kingfisher was a really fun horror book! It's pretty short and it's a retelling of Edgar Allen Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. It's nice and creepy in a fun way. If I think of any other good ones before then, I'll let you know! Great tag and I'm still sending you wellness and healing vibes. I truly believe in the power of positive thought and how it can change cell structure within our bodies. Hope you have a great weekend!
Yes! T. Kingfisher has recently come to my attention and I agree that something along those lines would be more to my tastes. And yes again, to positive thoughts. I have my moments of darkness, of course, but then I "hit the reset button" and move on! I definitely feel the love from everyone and I appreciate how supportive this Booktube community has been! Thank you, Farrah for sending your best vibes my way!
I don’t understand why anyone would thing The Stand is intimidating. I read it in high school.
