    Great job on the video! I just rebuilt the forks on a 2005 zrx 1200r last night. And this video helped big time. Thank you

    Just did mine, man it was a beast ,took all day , but never gave up. Didn't even use any specialty tools!! The inner part was the worst, threw a wrench and a screw driver down the tube to lock the inner nut, second fork tube was a breeze. Thanks man was contemplating doing this job myself.

    Very well presented.. I'm thinking about using the fork caps from a zxr1100 on my sprint st to allow the separate adjustment of damping and preload..
    Either that or just use emulators without cartridge.
    I liked your light heated jokes and humility. Very down to earth to watch. I am rebuilding my forks for the first time.
    I'm thinking that it's.. bush not bushing so you're correct. I converted my 955 sprint to a 1050 cc sprint

    I have a 78 KZ1000 someone put a ZRX1100 front end on. When I changed the tires I was wondering why the brake disk had oil all over it ... Fork seals.! I'm so glad you made this video, thank you thank you!

    Yes release the the cap first and perhaps listen the bottom too before fully retracting the axle.

    Great video! Just noticed if I'm not mistaken that you may have put the spring back in up side down. When you dismantled the fork the tightly wound spring was at the top. Cheers Paddy

      Hi Paddy, you're right I did put the spring the other way around then it was before but maybe the person that put it together before me did it wrong... haha. I'm kidding, I actually always put the progressive part of the spring up. To be honest it doesn't make a big difference as the progressive part will get compressed first anyway. On those springs I'm calling the progressive part the side I put up when rebuilding the forks, the other side which is really compressed is pretty much useless.... 😊

    Use some straps to fix the bike on the bench. Helps when working and is cheaper than a ne tank or so... :)

    Excellent video thanks.......followed it for the strip down and it all went perfectly! The springs in my ZRX1100 were linear type and NOT the progressive type though, so I'm wondering if yours were non-factory or mine are non-factory?
    I got some after market springs "K-Tech" springs in the UK, which are also liner type and they are about 20mm shorter than the linear springs I removed.....any thoughts please?
    Finally, do you know what length the spacer is in the standard fork so that I can check that?

    • @brucesmotorcycleshop3729
      @brucesmotorcycleshop3729  4 года назад

      Hi and thanks for the comment, K-Tech springs are pretty good and I personally prefer linear springs over progressive. I can not really tell you if my springs were stock or not unfortunately... If your new springs are shorter it doesn't really matter as long as they have the right diameter and enough travel! The ZRX1100 has 125mm fork travel so all you have to do is to measure the distance in between the spring coils and multiply it by the number of gaps and that will give you the maximum travel of that spring. Now you have to make sure that it will be enough so if you for example decide to have 10mm spring preload on 0 (when your preload adjuster is all the way back) and you know that your preload adjuster can add up to 15mm when it's all the way in (also as an example, you have to check it on your topcap...) you'll then need to have a spring that have at least 125(fork travel) + 10(ground preload) + 15(adjuster) = 150mm travel! If it has less than that your spring will bottom out before your hydro stop in the cartridge system and it will feel way more brutal and it could lead into a crash. About the length of the preload tube I can also not tell you but its easy to measure if you can compare it to what was in there before. Hope that this could help you 😉

      @@brucesmotorcycleshop3729 Hello again and Happy New Year to you! I'm back from vacation now....unfortunately 🙁 .... and I've measured the K-Tech springs. Gap between each coil is 9mm and there's about 24.5 gaps, so there's plenty there to cover the 150mm you mentioned that I will need, so I'll probably start the fork rebuild next weekend using the new K-Tech springs.👍😊

    Habe da mal eine Frage zum Gaszug. Muss zwangsweise die Vergaserbatterie ausgebaut werden um neue Geber und Nehmer für den Gaszug zu montieren? oder gibt es da Tricks? LG

      @brucesmotorcycleshop3729  4 года назад

      Hallo Andy, Gaszug tauschen geht normalerweise auch ohne die Vergaserbatterie raus zu machen aber ist wahrscheinlich knapp. Tank muss auf jeden Fall runter. :-) ich hoffe dass ich dir helfen konnte .

      @@brucesmotorcycleshop3729 hallo, vielen Dank für die Antwort. Den Tank hab ich schon ab. Muss nur mal gucken wie ich an den vergaser ran komme. Kann man oben am Rahmen die zwei Teile für die Zündung abbauen und die irgendwo bei Seite drücken solange man am vergaser arbeitet? Dann könnte man von oben auf den vergaser zu greifen?LG

    Nice video! Too bad, I did not have it when I had to change the oil seal. I was really struggling with the screw at ruclips.net/video/PgEhSrMaDrA/видео.html#t=444 (7 min 24 s) and couldn't manage that the inner was turning. Ended up by destroying the oil seal without putting out the tube and just replaced it then... Did the job, but better no one knows it, haha.
    Waiting for upcoming vids, but the end was shocking ;-)
    Oh, and will we see the bike in a short video, when you ride it???

    • @brucesmotorcycleshop3729
      @brucesmotorcycleshop3729  5 лет назад

      Haha well if you got it right in the end it's all good! Yeah I though whatever I have to put that video in at the end... no shame everyone do shit at some stage :-)
      Don't think that I'll make a ridding video as the bike isn't registered and I'm trying to sell it now. I did a test drive already and it's all good. Could to a super quick video to show it finished tho... will see 😉
