McCartney was definitely very fond of this song, as this one from this moment on became a staple of his soundcheck sets before shows, even to this day.
He also jammed on it previously during the Get Back sessions with The Beatles

Would’ve been great to see him take this band and these songs to the stage like he did at The Cavern for Run Devil Run.

Flowers in the Dirt was a collaboration with Elvis Costello--they wrote about a dozen songs together but not all of them are on this album--some were released on other McCartney albums or Costello albums.

He does this song with a story intro on his soundcheck before his concert.

You will love Flowers, he toured with this - his 1st for almost 10 years. In fact he is on a run from here with one exception.

Traditional song about being sent to prison, many people have done their take on this song. On this one, Paul plays bass and overdubbed acoustic guitar solo.
Paul would also do this for Unplugged and that version being released on the Biker Like An Icon CD Single

I probably know this best by Johnny Rivers. It was a top 20 song in 1965 but got a lot of re-peat plays on the radio. It was also used for the Wolfman Jack hosted show The Midnight Special, that ran from 1972 - 1981. A lot of great performances on that show. You name a performer who was big through that period, and they performed live on the show. (Well, no solo Beatles, unfortunately.)

This "traditional" song, played either as Blues, or Country, by Leadbelly, Johnny Cash, C.C.R. etc. One of the aspects of this song, if a man was in prison, and a railroad was near the prison, if the light from the engine shined into your jail cell, you might be released early,....or, you do the "Shawshank Redemption" method.

I'm looking forward to your next album reaction. Though I liked your reaction to this album it simply is not my favorite music.

Fun but not special I agree Credence did it much better. One of the forgettble tracks on this album. He also played it during th Unplugged sessions and that was rather lackluster too. Some songs uit some artists more than another and for me McCartney;s take on this classic is very beige.
I can't wait for you guys to start Flowers in the Dirt and hear what your thoughts are. It's been a great trip so far.
