The biggest problem is the ludicrous amount of coverage this story has had, giving Lineker's ivory tower opinions a level of credence they are completely unworthy and deserving of.
Mr Jordan's analogy regarding the verbal insulting of a police officer, was stupid. The concept of being arrested for saying words is a direct contraction of freedom of speech. How is it free speech if the consequence of your saying them is the removal of your freedom?
This 'freedom of speech, but not freedom from consequence' is a self-serving caveat people often try to impose in order to undermine free speech, designed in order to retain their imagined right to shut down things they wish not to hear.
The price of genuine freedom of speech, is that people are allowed to insult you as much as they like, and it is a price you would be foolish not to pay.

People interested in what the show would look like, maybe coupled with the show being considerably shorter.

Bit of a peacemeal argument there obviously going to go up because of the outcry and I'm sure they'll triple next week when he's back and everyone will watch is opening monologue and then the wets will tune out and go back to twitter and the ardent football fans will sit back and watch.
Truth is you sack Gary and you may aswell wrap the show highlights are now instaneous on RUclips via sky and bt the days of sitting in front of the TV watching all the soaps are slowly fading with streaming services ruling the roost

The case here is very clear and straightforward. The rich and morally empty trying to control anyone that has an iota of moral capacity and human capital toward those that are suffering around the globe. Good for you Gerry Lineker👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

How about we just cancel the BBC license fee? I don't pay it anyways, but it's ridiculous that I keep getting letters sent to me threatening to have someone come over. The BBC should be a subscription service for people to pay for if they wish. The reason they don't do it is because not enough people care about the BBC and wouldn't pay a dime.

Gary Lineker won. The BBC took a major L and so did all the people that tried to go down the hate speech route. He didn't tell one lie. And I'm not even a fan of his.

Clearly not mate, he's just managed to annoy the entire BBC, the government, the entire written press, and a big chunk of angry bald geezers over the age of 50 🤣
All by saying something slightly critical of govt. policy on Twitter..... Maybe look in the mirror and ask yourself who the well trained puppy is, Paul.
