Welcome to the world of Indie games, I hope you enjoy all the other great indie games! About Palworld, as someone interested in gamedev, and a person that sees video games as an art, Palworld makes me want to vomit. I am sure the game is very fun, and it is probably one of the best survival games made, but I just can't look at it. There is no artistic vision. The models look so inconsitent with each other it is nuts, there is no central core, everything looks as if it was a prototype (a VERY good one at that) but with a ton of content. The game studio behind it copying HK and abandoning their previous game also doesn't set the best precendent but we will see ig. You could say that Palworld is the opposite of Phasmo, as the phasmo devs are 100% dumb for not allowing modded content especially that their updates are slow asf. The best example of this in this video is Lethal Company, which you can see by just how it feels and looks, that there is an artist, a human artist, wanting to make something very creative and still familiar. Obviously, Fun is the most important factor of games... but it doesn't mean they can't have a vision that is coherent. With so much praise of this game I would think it does something more, but no. Although it is so fun, the game just points to how many people have never tried Indie games and other smaller games because they aren't made with Pokemon or funny haha guns. I hope this is an understandable take, and I hope you have fun with whatever game you will be playing next! TLDR: I am happy people can enjoy Palworld, but I am also worried about people not seeing the difference between a game that is made by a corpo that meshes shit together (Palworld, Battlefield, Fortnite, every AAA game now) and a game made by a studio/person with a vision of the game (Lethal Company, Ultrakill, Revita, Balatro, Grim Dawn, Noita, DRG, Risk of Rain 2, CrossCode, Isaac, Hollow Knight, Spiritfarer, Outer Wilds, Terraria, EtG, Tiny Rogues, Archvale, Battlebit, Valheim, etc.).
No exactly, and that’s why I made sure to grill it a bit through because, out of the 3 games, Palworld definitely goes a bit to far into the morally bad area, even for my tastes in the model area but this video, at large, it through the lens of what most gamersTM care about and unfortunately they don’t give a fuck about palworlds bad side. (Yet, I have a feel it’s a house of cards tbh)
Not really though nintendo has delayed games left and right heck they themselves don't release Mario or Zelda frequently but in the span of 18 months we got 3 console pokemon games a port and 2 mobile games. The issue IS the pokemon company and Gamefreak. Blatant misleading ads broken unoptimized games and blame it on not understanding hd development cause they are new to it but instead of trying to learn how they are pushing HARD. Thankfully seems they finally are ready to slow down no proper gameplay ad for the new game yet and we didn't get a pokemon game this winter they just focused on the dlc they promised so hopefully it's turning around and this next game will be amazing.
As an aspiring game dev, seeing the success of games like battlebit and lethal company has been a massive inspiration. I have never been a fan of most AAA games, so seeing these indie games make millions of dollars is really a good sign for the industry.
I just found you from the fallout video (I’m sure I won’t be alone) and I instantly subscribed. I’ve seen nothing but negativity from gaming channels for years now and your videos are a breath of fresh air. Bad games deserve to be critiqued, and good games deserve to be praised without using that praise as backhanded insults to other companies all the time. Thanks for what you’re doing here man, and God bless!
@@KindofBradAtThis absolutely dude, keep it up! And btw, your one standard for commenters was very well founded, since that other monotreme was all I could think of when I started the fallout video lol
11:10 i like how this is selling points of some games but others are their downfall as soon as they make it always online (redfall, new Suicide squad game, some other game prolly, etc.)
I kind of touch on with starfield being coop cause gameplay wise, it’s still a fish bowl simulator, you can only put so much lipstick on a pig, but having a friend on even a alright game (ie Palworld) can send it over the edge! With most bad coop games, they’re still bad regardless. Even if they were single player experiences (like suicide squad basically is) it’s still garbage
damn you need more subs. if you hit a viral video people will Definitely stick around and subscribe if you keep this up. you are oddly entertaining sir
I fw this video heavily. I find that the amount of negativity around games, while often valid, is pretty destructive and I'm starting to feel like a lot of people are realizing that the ultimate way to deal with something they care about having more and more glaring flaws, is to give energy to the great parts of it and celebrate that in its own right. I fuck with that on a very high amount
Good video as always Brad. While I do enjoy other amazing monster taming games that are amazing (Yo-kai Watch, Coromon, Fossil Fighters, Dragon Quest Monsters, etc), Palworld just has a different feeling to it. I just wish Game Freak/Pokemon Company can do more quality assurance with their mainline games, especially when 1st party Nintendo games (Pikmin, Mario, Zelda, etc) completely washes Scarlet/Violet in both innovation and quality.
Whats the game being shown at 13:03? At first I thought infamous. Then I saw the UI. Im thinking it's Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt. Correct me if Im wrong pls
So three responses to this amazingly made video, just came across the channel due to the Marvel Rivals video and I loving what I'm seeing: 1. I might be in the minority, but whenever a game is announced as co-op I'm immediately put off. Maybe it's because we've been burn so much by "live service" in recent years that I rejoice when I hear a game is single player only. But it could be because the people I used to play games with have just pushed me away from them in recent years. But that leads to... 2. Many communities for these new games are extremely self-destructive and toxic. Player bases surge and the community that forms pushes everyone away. All the arguing over Palworld that you mention is a great example. Why would I want to play or talk about a game that just starts arguments or criticism, or the main talking point is "You know it copies Pokémon right?" Helldivers 2 did the same, where they completely shamed and tore away any good will of the game because you had to make an new account for it that takes seconds to do. Why would I want to play a game and join the community that's toxic like that? Marvel Rivals seems super fun, but I know in a couple weeks, metas will become a thing and the community will force you to either join in or be shamed for not following what you are "meant" to do or be learning still. The fun that you mention is erased by the community the game grows. That's partly why I like single player games. The conversations are much healthier and you can talk about what you liked, a cool thing you did in it, or your experience with it. Which leads to: 3. Games are an art form. It's a medium of art. A lot of these games that you are discussing, while artistic in their own right, are being discussed as products rather than art. I think videogames as an art form are still in its infancy, but hearing people say "Just listen to what people want" only creates good products, not good art. A lot of these games come across as "fads" or "flashes in the pan" because they are products you use rather than art you experience. Games like "Return of the Obra Dinn", "Sifu" and a lot of the Playstation Studio games (especially those created by ND or SM) stick with me longer and will be talked about for the rest of time more than any match I had on BattleBit or something. Either way, loved the video and keep up the great work!
But wait, Hades, Cupehead, and Stardew Valley weren't AAA... right? Also, no matter how much people ask for it, im not sure proximity chat is ever good with the current state of gamers lol
Gamefreak doesn't really suck (as far as I know) it's just the insane pressure and deadlines put upon them by Nintendo, so I know everyone knows this, but Nintendo sucks.
I think the pokemon situation is a lot more nuanced than most people give it credit for! When you consider that each game has to ALSO line up with the release of a new anime, every single plushie, and piece of merchandise, Gamefreak is basically given a "get this done on this date or we lose millions each day its late" type of due date. Does that excuse the games being shit? No, but they don't need to be good anymore. The games are selling like crazy to begin with AND they make more in merch than anything else. The games are just ads at this point
I love the finals and palworld. They're both in my daily rotation and I can't get enough of them. Pokemon has been on a downward trend. The last one I enjoyed was soul silver but I tried sun and I kept falling asleep on it. I reached level 13 and never played it again. The formula does nothing for me anymore and the hand holding is insulting. I get it's also for kids but it feels like it's made for babies that never played a game before.
It’s the type of game you get when you force a developer to make something they don’t want to make The heads of rocksteady and creators of Arkham games left in Suicide Squad’s development and you know who replaced em? The director for The Division! 💀
Okay so I've heard a lot of people say it doesn't matter, Nintendo's a multi billion dollar company, we're not lawyers, but the issue isn't that they did something illegal. The issue is that they did something creatively bankrupt, regardless of the legality
I only care about theft, or AI. I don't mind creative bankruptcy, since a lot of games are iterative. Sometimes that iteration is just adding peanut butter to chocolate.

Indie Devs outselling AAA titles is the epitome of “Tony Stark was able to build this in a cave”
I hope people start realizing that the cave is the reason! The extra money and resources being a lot of problems that they should theoretically solve
